Effectiveness and time-course adaptation of resistance training vs. plyometric training in prepubertal soccer players

Purpose:This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and time course for improvements in explosive actions through resistance training(RT)*** training(PT)in prepubertal soccer ***:Thirty-four male subjects were assigned to:a control group(n=11);an RT group(5 regular soccer training sessions per week,n=12);a PT group(3 soccer training sessions and 2 RT sessions per week,n=11).The outcome measures included tests for the assessment of muscle strength(e.g.,1 repetition maximum half-squat test),jump ability(e.g.,countermovement jump,squat jump,standing long jump,and multiple 5 bounds test),linear speed(e.g.,20m sprint test),and change of direction(e.g.,Illinois change of direction test).Results:The RTG showed an improvement in the half-squat(△=13.2%;d=1.3,p<0.001)and countermovement jump(△=9.4%;d=2.4,p<0.001)at Week 4,whereas improvements in the 20-m sprint(△=4.2%;d=1.1,p<0.01);change of direction(CoD)(△=3.8%;d=2.1,p<0.01);multiple 5 bounds(△=5.1%;d=1.5,p<0.05);standing long jump(△=7.2%;d=1.2,p<0.01);squat jump(△=19.6%;d=1.5,p<0.01);were evident at Week *** PTG showed improvements in CoD(△=2.1%;d=1.3,p<0.05);standing long jump(△=9.3%;d=1.1,p<0.01);countermovement jump(△=16.1%;d=1.2,p<0.01);and squat jump(△=16.7%;d=1.4,p<0.01);at Week 8 whereas improvements in the 20-m sprint(△=4.1%;d=1.3,p<0.01);and multiple 5 bounds(△=7.4%;d=2.4,p<0.001);were evident only after *** RT and PT groups showed improvements in all sprint,CoD,and jump tests(p<0.05)and in half-squat performance,for which improvement was only shown within the RTG(p<0.001).Conclusion:RT and PT conducted in combination with regular soccer training are safe and feasible interventions for prepubertal soccer *** addition,these interventions were shown to be effective training tools to improve explosive actions with different time courses of improvements,which manifested earlier in the RTG than in the *** outcomes may help coaches and fitness trainers set out clear and concise

A comparative analysis among computational intelligence techniques for dissolved oxygen prediction in Delaware River

Most of the water quality models previously developed and used in dissolved oxygen （DO） prediction are complex. Moreover, reliable data available to develop/calibrate new DO models is scarce. Therefore, there is a need to study and develop models that can handle easily measurable parameters of a particular site, even with short length. In recent decades, computational intelligence techniques, as effective approaches for predicting complicated and significant indicator of the state of aquatic ecosystems such as DO, have created a great change in predictions. In this study, three different AI methods comprising：（1） two types of artificial neural networks （ANN） namely multi linear perceptron （MLP） and radial based function （RBF）; （2） an advancement of genetic programming namely linear genetic programming （LGP）; and （3） a support vector machine （SVM） technique were used for DO prediction in Delaware River located at Trenton, USA. For evaluating the performance of the proposed models, root mean square error （RMSE）, Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient （NS）, mean absolute relative error （MARE） and, correlation coeffi- cient statistics （R） were used to choose the best predictive model. The comparison of estimation accu- racies of various intelligence models illustrated that the SVM was able to develop the most accurate model in DO estimation in comparison to other models. Also, it was found that the LGP model performs better than the both ANNs models. For example, the determination coefficient was 0.99 for the best SVM model, while it was 0.96, 0.91 and 0.81 for the best LGP, MLP and RBF models, respectively. In general, the results indicated that an SVM model could be employed satisfactorily in DO estimation.

Multigene genetic programming for sediment transport modeling in sewers for conditions of non-deposition with a bed deposit

It is known that construction of large sewers based on consideration of flow with non-deposition without a bed deposit is not economical. Sewer design based on consideration of flow with nondeposition with a bed deposit reduces channel bed slope and construction cost in which the presence of a small depth of sediment deposition on the bed increases the sediment transport capacity of the *** paper suggests a new Pareto-optimal model developed by the multigene genetic programming(MGGP) technique to estimate particle Froude number(Frp) in large sewers with conditions of sediment deposition on the bed. To this end, four data sets including wide ranges of sediment size and concentration, deposit thickness, and pipe size are used. On the basis of different statistical performance indices, the efficiency of the proposed Pareto-optimal MGGP model is compared to those of the best MGGP model developed in the current study as well as the conventional regression models available in the literature. The results indicate the higher efficiency of the MGGP-based models for Frp estimation in the case of no additional deposition onto a bed with a sediment deposit. Inasmuch as the Pareto-optimal MGGP model utilizes a lower number of input parameters to yield comparatively higher performance than the conventional regression models, it can be used as a parsimonious model for self-cleansing design of large sewers in practice.

SPECTRAL AND CHEMICAL MONITORING OF CYCLO-ADDITION REACTION OF CO_2 WITH POLY(MMA-co-GMA) COPOLYMERS

This paper deals with the monitoring cyclo-addition of CO2 to methyl methacrylate （MMA）-glycidyl methacrylate （GMA） copolymers using spectral （IH-NMR and FTIR） and chemical （elemental analysis and titration） methods. Thus, poly（MMA-co-GMA）, was first prepared via solution polymerization. The copolymer was then treated with CO2 gas flow in the presence of cetyltrimethyl ammoniumbromide as a catalyst. In terms of the carbonation reaction time, the terpolymer poly（MMA-eo-GMA-co-2-oxo-l,3-dioxolane-4-yl-methyl methacrylate） was prepared in various yield of CO2 fixation （〉 90%）. The peak intensity changes in the 1H-NMR and FTIR spectra provided excellent demonstrative techniques to monitor the carbonation reaction progression. In a comparative analytical viewpoint, the NMR and elemental analysis were recognized to be the most accurate ways to follow the cyclo-addition reaction progression. However, titration was recognized to be the most preferred method, because it is a very inexpensive, facile and available method with a reasonable cost- accuracy balance.

Antimicrobial resistance patterns and prevalence of integrons in Shigella species isolated from children with diarrhea in southwest Iran

Objective:To investigate the antimicrobial resistance patterns and prevalence of integrons in Shigella species isolated from children with diarrhea in southwest ***:In this study,1530 stool samples were collected from children under 15 years with diarrhea referred to teaching hospitals in Ahvaz and Abadan,southwest *** *** identified by standard biochemical tests and *** antibiotic resistance pattern of all Shigella isolates was determined by the disk diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)by ***:Of 1530 stool samples,91(5.9%,91/1530)were positive for Shigella *** most common Shigella isolates were Shigella flexneri 47(51.6%,47/1530).Antibiotic susceptibility tests showed that the highest antibiotic resistance was related to trimethoprimsulfamethoxazole(87.9%,80/91)and ampicillin(86.8%,79/91).Multiplex PCR results revealed that 56%and 86.9%of Shigella isolates carried integron classⅠand integron classⅡgenes,*** of the isolates included the integron classⅢ***:The high prevalence of multi-drug resistance in Shigella isolates in our area increases the concerns about dissemination of the antibiotic-resistant isolates in this bacterium.

Performance Evaluation of Energy Meters Under Nonlinear Loads

Due to rapid advancements in power electronics, the utilization of electronically switched loads and nonlinear loads is increasing gradually in the electrical power system. These loads create problems of measuring instruments, when connected to the power distribution systems. In this paper, an experimental investigation has been carried out to analyze the performance of single-phase watt-hour (induction and electronic types) energy meters that are being used in Pakistan. The accuracy of the energy meters has been tested under different household nonlinear loads, at various power factors and also at different supply voltage levels. Power factor and total harmonic distortion (THD) of different household loads are also recorded in the experimental work. A hardware based experimental setup has been designed to perform the experimental work. The experimental results have been compared to Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) standards for energy meters. © 2017, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

A Smart Heart Disease Diagnostic System Using Deep Vanilla LSTM

Effective smart healthcare frameworks contain novel and emerging solutions for remote disease diagnostics,which aid in the prevention of several diseases including heart-related *** this context,regular monitoring of cardiac patients through smart healthcare systems based on Electrocardiogram(ECG)signals has the potential to save many *** existing studies,several heart disease diagnostic systems are proposed by employing different state-of-the-art methods,however,improving such methods is always an intriguing area of ***,in this research,a smart healthcare system is proposed for the diagnosis of heart disease using ECG *** proposed framework extracts both linear and time-series information on the ECG signals and fuses them into a single framework *** linear characteristics of ECG signals are extracted by convolution layers followed by Gaussian Error Linear Units(GeLu)and time series characteristics of ECG beats are extracted by Vanilla Long Short-Term Memory Networks(LSTM).Following on,the feature reduction of linear information is done with the help of ID Generalized Gated Pooling(GGP).In addition,data misbalancing issues are also addressed with the help of the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique(SMOTE).The performance assessment of the proposed model is done over the two publicly available datasets named MIT-BIH arrhythmia database(MITDB)and PTB Diagnostic ECG database(PTBDB).The proposed framework achieves an average accuracy performance of 99.14%along with a 95%recall value.

In this paper, we investigate the control problem of autonomous bay parking system. We choose a referenced parking lot and define a suitable parking spot based on some measurements at various places. A kinetic model is set up for the convenience of analysis and simulation. The pose of the car during the parking procedure can be determined by the initial pose, the backward speed, and the steering angle of the wheel. Then, both a fuzzy speed controller and a fuzzy steering controller are designed for the bay parking. Finally, simulation results show the effectiveness of our designed controllers.
