BACKGROUND There are no consistent results between previous studies for an independent association between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and cardiovascular disease(CVD)events.AIM To determine if there is an independent association between NAFLD and CVD events.METHODS In the present study,valid outcome data of 4808 subjects were available for phase 2 of our cohort study.These subjects had been followed up for seven years from phase 1,beginning in 2009-2010 to phase 2 during 2016-2017.Simple and multiple Cox proportional models were used to determine the association between NAFLD in the primary phase of the cohort and subsequent fatal and non-fatal CVD events during follow-up.RESULTS The incidence of non-fatal CVD events in males with NAFLD was significantly higher(P=0.004)than in males without NAFLD.A positive association was demonstrated between NAFLD and non-fatal CVD events in males(Hazard ratio=1.606;95%CI:1.166-2.212;P=0.004)by the simple Cox proportional hazard model,but no independent association was detected between these in the multiple Cox models.CONCLUSION No independent association was detected between NAFLD and CVD.It is likely that diabetes mellitus and age may be the principle mediators in this regard.

研究了边界表面受均布动压力作用的功能梯度(FGM)厚壁中空圆柱体,给出了其平面应变响应下的弹性动力学解.假设材料性能(除Poisson比外)随厚度按幂律函数变化.为了得到一个精确解,将动力径向位移分为准静力部分和动力部分,导出了每个部分的一个解析解.先由Euler方程得到准静力学部分的解,再由分离变量法和正交展开法得到动力学部分的解.在不同动荷载作用下,对不同的FGM中空圆柱体,画出径向位移和应力图,并对本方法的优点进行了讨论.该解析解适用于中空圆柱体各种组合的FGM,厚度可以是任意的,初始条件也可以是任意的,壁面上均匀分布着任意形式的动压力.

A statistical method for assessment of the existing correlations of hydrate forming conditions

Hydrate formation in the oil and gas industries has been a serious problem for a long time. It may cause many difficulties for instance in gas pipelines blockages. In order to determine the hydrate forming condition, gas gravity method has been used. Several correlations have been proposed based on gas gravity method. Checking the accuracy of the applied correlations is important. In this paper, the leverage approach is used for this purpose. Leverage approach is a statistical method for detection outliers which identifies the applicability domain （AD） of hydrate data predicting correlations and the quality of the existing data. Moreover, the Williams plot is sketched, which is a graphical depiction for determination of the doubtful points. The obtained results showed the existing correlations are all statistically correct and valid to predict hydrate formation temperature, just one data point is out of the applicability domains, and none of the experimental data can be chosen as outliers.

A new burgeoning family of two-dimensional(2D)transition metal carbides/nitrides,better known as MXenes,have received extensive attention because of their distinct properties,such as metallic conductivity,good hydrophilicity,large surface area,good mechanical stability,and biodegradability.About 40 different MXenes have been synthesized,and dozens more structures and properties have been theoretically predicted.However,the recent progress in MXenes development is not well covered in chronological order based on different applications.This review article focuses on emerging synthesis methods,the properties of MXenes,and mainly the applications of MXenes and MXene-based material family in environmental remediation,a comprehensive review of gaseous and aqueous pollutants treatment.

Livestock units are known as one of the most influential sectors in the environment pollution.Therefore,the aim of this study was to investigate the environmental impacts of milk production in Guilan province of Iran through Life Cycle Assessment(LCA)methodology.The primary data were collected from 45 units of milk production through a field survey with the help of a structured questionnaire.The reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and was estimated an acceptable value of 0.91.The consumption of resources and emissions were allocated to a functional unit(FU)of one ton of milk.Impacts of emissions in five impact categories of global warming,acidification,eutrophication,photochemical oxidation and depletion of resources were investigated.The results showed that the characterization index for these impact categories were 1831 kg CO2 eq,7.97 kg SO2 eq,3.42 kg PO4^-3 eq,0.21 kg C2H4 eq and 838.39 MJ,respectively.Final indices for these impact categories were calculated as 0.24,0.28,0.076,0.017 and 0.046,respectively.Environmental index(EcoX)and resources depletion index(RDI)were obtained 0.61 and 0.04,respectively.In this study,the highest potential for environmental impacts of production revealed for acidification and followed by global warming impact category.

BACKGROUND Most patients with cardiovascular disorders suffer from coronary artery diseases,which can be treated successfully using coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG).One of the unpleasant events following CABG is postoperative vision loss(POVL).Vulnerability of retinal vessels to hemodynamic changes,an expectable event following CABG,may contribute to the development of POVL,which might be associated with the changes in the choroidal and retinal structures.AIM To investigate postoperative changes in chorioretinal and peripapillary nerve fiber layer(NFL)thickness,and progression of diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy after CABG.METHODS In this prospective,cross-sectional study,49 eyes in 25 candidates for CABG underwent both ophthalmic and cardiovascular examinations within 6 mo prior to and 9 mo after surgery.RESULTS Among the study participants,56%were male with a mean age of 62.84 years±10.49 years(range 33–80 years).Diabetes mellitus was observed in eight participants(32%).None of the patients suffered from postoperative anterior or posterior ischemic optic neuropathy,central retinal artery occlusion,and cortical blindness.The mean value of the preoperative best corrected visual acuity was 0.11±0.10 logMAR(range,0–0.4),which worsened to 0.15±0.08 logMAR(range,0–0.4)after CABG(P=0.031).No significant difference was observed between the preand postsurgical choroidal(P=0.853)and macular(P=0.507)thickness,NFL thickness in the subfoveal(P>0.999)and peripapillary areas(P=0.659),as well as the severity of diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy.CONCLUSION CABG may reduce visual acuity without affecting ocular structures.Postoperative vision reduction might be attributable to molecular or cellular variations,changes in visual pathway function,or central nervous system.

Barley grain for ruminants: A global treasure or tragedy

Barley grain （Hordeum vulgate L.） is characterized by a thick fibrous coat, a high level of β-glucans and simply-arranged starch granules. World production of barley is about 30 % of that of corn. In comparison with corn, barley has more protein, methionine, lysine, cysteine and tryptophan. For ruminants, barley is the third most readily degradable cereal behind oats and wheat. Due to its more rapid starch fermentation rate compared with corn, barley also provides a more synchronous release of energy and nitrogen, thereby improving microbial nutrient assimilation. As a result, feeding barley can reduce the need for feeding protected protein sources. However, this benefit is only realized if rumen acidity is maintained within an optimal range （e.g., 〉 5.8 to 6.0）; below this range, microbial maintenance requirements and wastage increase. With a low pH, microbial endotoxines cause pro-inflammatory responses that can weaken immunity and shorten animal longevity. Thus, mismanagement in barley processing and feeding may make a tragedy from this treasure or pearl of cereal grains. Steam-rolling of barley may improve feed efficiency and post-rumen starch digestion. However, it is doubtful if such processing can improve milk production and feed intake. Due to the need to process barley less extensively than other cereals （as long as the pericarp is broken）, consistent and global standards for feeding and processing barley could be feasibly established. In high-starch diets, barley feeding reduces the need for capacious small intestinal starch assimilation, subsequently reducing hindgut starch use and fecal nutrient loss. With its nutritional exclusivities underlined, barley use will be a factual art that can either matchlessly profit or harm rumen microbes, cattle production, farm economics and the environment.

Tractor as one of the most widely used agricultural machinery should be considered from different aspects.The frequent application of clutch and brake pedals and also the steering wheel within farms,along with the unfavorable working conditions,cause negative effects on the occupational health of the tractor drivers.Thus,in this research,the imposed forces on three engaged muscles including:Gastrocnemius,Trapezius and Quadrate’s lumborum of the tractor drivers during clutching have been studied.In this regard,algometer device was used to determine the applied forces on selective muscles of drivers during clutching of MF285 and MF399 tractors.The experiments were performed employing sample of 30 drivers and were conducted on two Iranian frequently used tractors including:MF285 and MF399 models.The results showed that the clutching forces for MF285 and MF399 tractors were 340 N and 290 N,respectively.The knee angle of the drivers of the two tractors was statistically different at the one percent level of significance.The reduction of pain threshold after 30 and 60 s clutching and also 60 s rest after clutching in MF285 tractor,for all three muscles,were more than those of MF399 tractor.The impact of clutching on the average decreases of pain threshold,for all drivers and all clutching periods,during and after clutching,in the Quadratus lumborum muscle was more than the other two muscles,in both tractors.In order to reduce the clutching force for MF285 tractor some modifications is suggested.In this regard the force transfer joint between the pedal and the clutch release linkage may be replaced with one made of cast iron.

Background:This systematic review aims to study the effectiveness of 5-fluorouracil(5FU)in the reduction of tendon adhesions postsurgical repair.Method:A systematic review was performed involving four databases,Cochrane,PubMed,MEDLINE,and Embase,looking for evidence of at least Level I or Level II(according to NHMRC)in the use of 5FU in tendon repairs in human or animal studies.Results:Across the four databases 546 articles were identified.Of these 12 were identified as relevant,with a further two being excluded after in depth review.Conclusions:Nine of the 10 studies showed that 5FU was effective at reducing tendon adhesions in their respective animal studies.One of the 10 studies showed no significant change compared to the control group.
