Distinct migratory pathways and trafficking of dendritic cells to the central nervous system (CNS): The immune system is a host defense mechanism protecting against invaders, such as bacteria and viruses, while maintaining tolerance to self. Nonetheless, a few sites throughout the body are believed to be immunologically inert, such as the testes, the eye and the brain. Indeed, experiments in the mid-20th century gave rise to the concept of the brain as a site of immune privilege. Originally, the immune privilege of the brain was thought to be absolute, attributed by a physical blood-brain barrier (BBB) protecting the CNS from the entry of pathogens and circulating immune cells. These views have changed and currently, the CNS is seen as an immune-specialized site regulated by immunological components into and within the CNS.

Background:Land use/cover and management practices are widely known to influence soil organic matter(SOM)quality and *** present study investigated the effect of different land use,i.e.,forests *** forest cover(MFC),Prosopis juliflora(Sw.)DC-dominated forest cover(PFC),and cultivated sites *** field(AF),vegetable field(VF),respectively,on soil parameter,microbial activity,and enzymes involved in soil nutrient cycle in a semiarid region of ***:The results showed a significant reduction(P<0.05)in soil carbon(SC),soil nitrogen(SN)content(~30–80%)and consequently the soil microbial biomass carbon(SMBC)(~70–80%),soil basal respiration(SBR),soil substrate-induced respiration(SSIR),and soil enzyme activities(β-glucosidase,acid phosphatase,and dehydrogenase)under cultivated sites in comparison with forest ***’s correlation showed that a positive correlation of SC with SMBC,SBR,SSIR(P<0.01),and enzymatic activities(i.e.,β-glucosidase,dehydrogenase)(P<0.05)may imply the critical role of SC in regulating microbial and enzymatic ***,a positive correlation of soil moisture with urease activity(P<0.01)was found suggesting it as a significant abiotic factor for soil biological ***,based on the PCA analysis,we observed the clustering of SMBC/SC ratio and qCO_(2) nearby ***:Our study suggests that soil microbial parameters(SMBC,SBR,SSIR,SMBC/SC,qCO_(2))and enzyme activity are key indicators of soil health and *** use/cover alters the SOM content and soil microbial *** management strategies focusing on the conservation of natural forest and minimizing the land disturbances will be effective in preventing soil carbon flux as CO_(2) and maintaining the SC stock.

In India,large-scale climatic oscillations have strong influences on the Indian summer monsoon rainfall(ISMR),which plays a crucial role in India’s agricultural production and economic ***,there are limited studies in India that explore the influences of decadal and multidecadal oscillations on the ISMR and associated El Niño–Southern Oscillation(ENSO).Therefore,in this study we carried out a comprehensive and detailed investigation to understand the influences of ENSO,Pacific decadal oscillation(PDO),and Atlantic multidecadal oscillation(AMO)on ISMR across different regions in *** statistical significance of ISMR associated with different phases(positive/warm and negative/cold)of ENSO,PDO,and AMO(individual analysis),and combined ENSO–AMO,and ENSO–PDO(coupled analysis)were analysed by using the nonparametric Wilcoxon Rank Sum(WRS)*** individual analysis results indicate that in addition to the ENSO teleconnection,AMO and PDO significantly affect the spatial patterns of *** analysis was performed to understand how the phase shift of PDO and AMO has modulated the rainfall during El Niño and La Niña *** results indicate that the La Niña associated with a positive PDO phase caused excessive precipitation of about 21%–150%in the peninsular,west–central,and hilly regions compared to the individual effect of ENSO/PDO/AMO on ISMR;similarly,the west–central,coastal,and northwest regions received 15%–56%of excessive ***,during the El Niño combined with PDO positive(AMO positive),above-normal precipitation was observed in hilly,northeast,and coastal(hilly,northeast,west–central,and coastal)regions,opposite to the results obtained from the individual ENSO *** study emphasizes the importance of accounting the decadal and multidecadal forcing when examining variations in the ISMR during different phases of ENSO events.

Molecular dynamics simulations have been performed to investigate the structural,thermal and wetting properties of self-assembled monolayer(SAM) of alkane thiol on gold *** specific heat capacity of the gold SAM surface was found to linearly increase with the temperature in the range 100–300 *** was found to drop down at 400 K and this decrease might be attributed to the disorder of the SAM *** of gold SAM surface for two different terminal groups,namely methyl(hydrophobic),and hydroxy(hydrophilic) was studied at room *** difference in their wetting behavior and the structure of their interfacial water were examined from the estimation of the z density profile,radial distribution function,hydrogen bonds and orientation of water dipoles in the interfacial *** present simulation results suggest that the wetting behavior of the gold SAM surface can be modified by altering the terminal functional group of the SAM chains.

Thamnocalamus falconeri, Hook.f. ex Munro.,an important bamboo species belonging to the family Poaceae, locally known as Ringal, occurs in the hills of Uttarakhand, India. This species has been traditionally exploited by local communities to support their *** needs of the hill villages impose unsustainable pressure on natural stands of Ringal in the Uttarakhand hills and forests have been degraded. The long history of excessive cutting of Ringal from natural forests and the lack of replanting threaten villager livelihoods. Replanting is required to conserve the species. We propose a protocol for generation of planting material through axillary bud proliferation for multiplication and conservation of this species. We collected offsets/rhizomes from a natural stand of T. falconeri in the Chopta Mandal areas（Chamoli district, India）. These were planted at sites of varied elevation and fresh single nodal segments were collected from them as explants. Different sterilization treatments were assessed to combat contamination. Among these, treatment of 0.1 %Hg Cl2 followed by 5 % Na OCl, proved best. Among two cytokinin treatments, viz. BAP and Kinetin, singly or in combination, BAP alone（5 mg L-1） proved superior and resulted in 100 % bud break. BAP-supplemented MS media yielded maximum vigorous shoot formation（90 %）and maximum number of shoots（8.9）. Subculturing of shoots on the same medium with similar BAP treatment（5 mg L-1BAP） enabled continuous production of healthy shoots at similar frequency. Maximum rooting（100 %）was recorded on half-strength MS medium supplemented with 5 mg L-1IBA. Micropropagated plants were hardened and acclimatized in soil mixture（2：1：1） and then transplanted to field sites（Magra, Uttarakhand, 1,834 m）.Eight to ten months after field transplantation we recorded100 % survival of transplanted material. This micropropagation protocol could be used successfully for raising a stock of genetically homogenous plant material in bulk

The study was carried out to investigate the effect of tree age on postharvest attributes and mineral content of Amrapali mango fruits. Effect of 3 different tree ages(6, 18 and 30 years) on functional components, including the antioxidant activity(AOX), total phenols, total carotenoids,ascorbic acid and minerals like Ca, K, Mg, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn and B along with total sugars, total soluble solids(TSS) and titratable acidity(TA),respiration rate, polygalacturonase(PG) and pectin methylesterase(PME) activities in Amrapali cultivar were studied. With tree ageing total phenols, ascorbic acid and antioxidant activity decreased whereas total carotenoids increased. Ca diminished and K elevated with the tree age progression while, B, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn showed an indefinite pattern. Total soluble solids and total sugars were recorded higher in 18 year old tree fruits. Fruit respiration rate, polygalacturonase and pectin methylesterase activities showed an upward trend with tree ageing. The study indicates that fruit produced from middle age group mango orchard(18 year old) suits to the requirement of consumers as well as industry.

Non-coding transcription is present in all eukaryotic genomes,but we lack fundamental knowledge about its importance for an organism’s ability to develop *** plants,emerging evidence highlights the essential biological role of non-coding transcription in the regulation of coding ***,we have few molecular insights into this ***,we show that a long isoform of the long noncoding RNA SVALKA-L(SVK-L)forms a natural antisense transcript to the host gene CBF1 and negatively regulates CBF1 mRNA levels at normal temperatures in the model plant Arabidopsis ***,we show detailed evidence for the specific mode of action of *** pathway includes the formation of double-stranded RNA that is recognized by the DICER proteins and subsequent downregulation of CBF1 mRNA ***,the CBF1-SVK regulatory circuit is not only important for its previously known role in cold temperature acclimation but also for biomass production at normal *** study characterizes the developmental role of SVK-L and offers mechanistic insight into how biologically important overlapping natural antisense transcripts can act on and fine-tune the steady-state levels of their host gene’s mRNA.
