In this paper, the modified Kudryashov method is employed to find the traveling wave solutions of two well-known space-time fractional partial differential equations, namely the Zakharov Kuznetshov Benjamin Bona Mahony equation and Kolmogorov Petrovskii Piskunov equation, and as a helping tool, the sense of modified Riemann-Liouville derivative is also used. The propagation properties of obtained solutions are investigated where the graphical representations and justifications of the results are done by mathematical software Maple.

Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Activities of Ag/ZnO Nanocomposities Fabricated by Co-Precipitation Method

A Ag/ZnO nanocomposite has been synthesized and characterized for investigating its photocatalytic activity. The morphology and particle size of the Ag/ZnO was studied by scanning electron microscope （SEM） and the microstructure of the as-synthesized nanocomposite was confirmed by X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis. The elemental com- position of the metal oxide was determined by energy dispersion spectrometry （EDS）. Diffuse reflectance spectra （DRS）, Photoluminescence （PL） spectra, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） were also studied for characterizing the nanocomposite. The average particle size was found to be around 20-30 nm. Photocatalytic activity of Ag/ZnO has been investigated over methyl violet （6B） dye under UV and visible light irradiation. The degradation of methyl violet （6B） dye using ZnO and Ag/ZnO was compared and found that Ag/ZnO composite is more efficient than ZnO. The rate of disappearance of dye was monitored spectrophotometrically in the maximum visible absorption wavelength and the extent of degradation was discussed in terms of Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. The Ag/ZnO composite was found capable of degrading the industrial dye effluent. Effect of H202 addition on dye degradation by the Ag/ZnO was investigated and Ag/ ZnO was found to be an effective antimicrobial agent. Reusability of Ag/ZnO catalyst was also tested.

In this paper, soil resistivity and ground resistance at two different sites near an electrical substation are measured using a grounding system grid with and without rods. With the Wenner four-pole equal-method, the soil resistivity is measured at both selected sites, one of which contains wet soil while the other contains dry soil. Cymgrd simulation software is then used to determine the acceptability of these measured resistivity values by finding out the root mean square error between the measured and calculated values for both wet and dry soil sites. These values for wet and dry soil sties were found to be only 0 %and 4.92 %, respectively, and deemed acceptable. The measured soil resistivity values were then used to evaluate the ground resistance values of a grounding grid ‘with rod’for the wet soil site and ‘without rods’ for the dry soil site,and then compared with the simulated ground resistance values. These comparisons were also found to be in good agreement. In addition, ground potential rise, maximum permissible step and touch potentials have also been estimated using the simulation software.

In vitro interaction of sildenafil citrate (SC) with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated at two excitation wavelengths of BSA (280 nm and 293 nm) at two different temperatures (298 K and 308 K) by fluorescence emission spectroscopy. The study showed that quenching of BSA fluores-cence by sildenafil citrate was the result of formation BSA-SC complex with probable involvement of both tryptophan and tyrosine residues of BSA. Fluorescence quenching constant was determined from Stern-Volmer equation, and both static quenching and dynamic quenching were showed for BSA by SC at the conditions. Van’t Hoff equation was used to measure the thermodynamic parameters ΔG, ΔH, and ΔS at the temperatures which indicated that the hydrogen bond and the hydrophobic forces played major roles for BSA-SC complexation. The binding number (n) was found to be ≈1 indicating that one mole BSA bound with one mole SC. The binding affinity of SC to BSA was calculated at different temperatures. The binding constant was decreased with increasing temperatures indicating that stability of BSA-SC complex decreased with increasing temperatures.

A Study on the Radioactivity Level in Raw Materials, Final Products and Wastes of the Phosphate Fertilizer Industries in Bangladesh

A study on the detection of probable radionuclides and their activity concentrations in the raw material (phosphate rock), final product (fertilizer) and waste samples collected from all the phosphate fertilizer factories (total two factories—A Diammonium Phosphate, DAP and a Triple Super Phosphate, TSP factory) in Bangladesh were carried out. A total of seven types of samples (grossly divided into solid and liquid types);liquid waste, waste-mixed river water, normal river water, phosphate rock, phosphate fertilizer, solid waste and normal soil;were analyzed under this study. Raw material samples were collected only from the TSP fertilizer factory. Fertilizer, solid and liquid waste samples were collected from both the factories under study. Moreover, normal soil and natural surface water samples from the suitable areas adjacent to the factories were also collected for the comparison purpose. The samples were analyzed by gamma ray spectrometry technique using a Hyper-Pure Germanium (HPGe) detector of 40% relative efficiency. The analysis of the samples showed that only natural radionuclides such as 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were present in the samples and no traces of artificial radioactivity were found in any of the samples. 40K was found below the detection limit in some samples. The analysis of the samples in the case of TSP fertilizer factory showed that the average activity concentrations of 226Ra and 232Th and 40K in raw materials were 851.27 ± 7.10, 19.63 ± 6.57 and 54.06 ± 5.93 Bq/kg, respectively, in final product 211.90 ± 4.74, 42.48 ± 10.56 Bq/kg and ND (Not Detected), respectively, in solid waste 187.49 ± 4.88, 70.06 ± 11.76 and 289.27 ± 40.24 Bq/kg, respectively and in liquid waste 6.26 ± 0.63, 10.01 ± 1.39 Bq/L and ND, respectively. The measured results in the case of samples collected from DAP fertilizer factory showed that the average activity concentrations of 226Ra and 232Th and 40K in the final product were 17.31 ± 3.92, 69.74 ± 9.88 and 48.46 ± 17.22

Trace Metals Concentrations at the Atmosphere Particulate Matters in the Southeast Asian Mega City (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Atmospheric particulate matters were collected on quartz fibre filters for 24 hours with a low volume sampler from January 2014 to March 2014 at the Southeast Asian mega city (Dhaka, Bangladesh). Particulate matters samples were analysed for eleven trace metals with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) at Cà Foscari University of Venice, Italy. Trace metals were extracted from filters with digestion method using a mixture of HNO3 and H2O2. The average concentration of the determined trace metals of As, Cd, Ni, Cu, Pb, Cr, Fe, Mn, Zn, Sband Se were 3.06, 6.28, 3.77, 11.98, 305.6, 9.2, 2057.0, 42.2, 303.3, 5.47 and 2.43 ng·mǅ, respectively. Arsenic concentration is much lower in the atmosphere of Dhaka, though Bangladesh has severe arsenic problem in the ground water. Lead and cadmium concentrations showed decreasing trend in Dhaka compared than previous measurements—but still they have very high levels compared than Europe and USA. There is very limited information for Mn, Sb and Se concentrations in Dhaka air. Correlation studies showed that several trace metals had potential joint sources of origin, e.g., manganese is highly correlated with iron (r2 = 0.97) and nickel (r2 = 0.84), copper (r2 = 0.86);lead with arsenic (r2 = 0.79) and antimony (r2 = 0.78). Enrichment factors analysis was also done with the data base for the respective metals in earth crust and coal fly ash. As and Cu both have combined sources, whereas Cd, Pb and Zn were from coal fly *** metals concentrations in Dhaka city air were much higher than Europe and USA but comparable or slightly lower than other south Asian countries. This is the first extensive study for the eleven trace metals with ICP-MS in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Objective:To investigate bioactive phytochemicals and antioxidant activities of Nymphaea nouchali and to explore its anticancer pathways by a network pharmacology ***:Using a spectrophotometer and high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector(HPLC-DAD),we quantified bioactive phytochemicals in methanolic extract of Nymphaea nouchali *** extracts were investigated for in vitro antioxidant *** of these bioactive phytochemicals were predicted and anticancer-associated pathways were analyzed by a network pharmacology ***,we identified the predicted genes associated with cancer pathways and the hub genes in the protein-protein interaction network of predicted ***:Quantitative results indicated the total phenolics,total flavonoids,and total proanthocyanidins in the methanolic extract of Nymphaea nouchali ***-DAD analysis showed rutin(39.44 mg),catechin(39.20 mg),myricetin(30.77 mg),ellagic acid(11.05 mg),gallic acid(3.67 mg),vanillic acid(0.75 mg),rosmarinic acid(4.81 mg),p-coumaric acid(3.35 mg),and quercetin(0.90 mg)in 1 g of dry *** extract showed the radical scavenging activities of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl,2,2’-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)and N,*** using network pharmacology,we predicted 130 target genes associated with cancer *** top hub genes(IL6,AKT1,EGFR,JUN,PTGS2,MAPK3,CASP3,and CXCL8)were also identified,which were associated with cancer pathways and interacted with bioactive phytochemicals of the methanolic extract of Nymphaea nouchali ***:Our study provides insights into the mechanism of anticancer activities of the methanolic extract of Nymphaea nouchali tuber.

Accelerated Aqueous Solubility and Antibacterial Activity of Cefuroxime Axetil Using Microcrystalline Cellulose as Carrier

This investigation was undertaken to enhance the solubility and consequent antibacterial activity of cefuroxime axetil (CA), a β-lactamase-stable broad spectrum second generation cephalosporin through solid dispersion (SD) technique. For this purpose, CA loaded SDs (CSDs) were prepared by solvent evaporation method using different concentrations of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) as carrier. The CSDs were characterized by in-vitro dissolution study, thermal analysis (DSC), crystallinity (PXRD), interactions (FTIR) and morphology (SEM). Among the formulations, CSD-2 showed the highest dissolution rate which was 2.59-fold higher than pure CA with a drug-carrier (CA: MCC) ratio of 1:3. Enhanced dissolution rate was attributed to conversion of drug from crystalline to amorphous state during preparation of SDs, which was validated by DSC, PXRD, FTIR and SEM analyses. Antibacterial activity of CSD-2 against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) showed 1.94- and 6.75-fold higher relative zone of inhibition (RZOI), respectively than pure CA. CSD-2 has been found to be the most effective optimized formulation in terms of both enhanced dissolution rate and antibacterial activity. Thus, it can be an effective alternative to conventional dosage forms of CA. However, further investigations are needed to validate its pharmacokinetic properties, in-vivo antibacterial efficacy and safety before recommending as a novel

Background: Long segment transpedicular screw fixation in thoracolumbar spine injury has gained popularity in the last decades as it provides immediate stability, prevents further risk of complications and allows early mobilization of patient. Objectives: Evaluation of clinical and functional outcome after long segment transpedicular screw fixation in unstable thoracolumbar spine injury with incomplete neurological deficit patients. Methods: This quasi experimental study was conducted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 2016 to December 2017. A total of twenty four (24) patients with traumatic unstable fracture of the thoracolumbar spine with incomplete neurological deficit underwent long segment transpedicular screw fixation were included in this study. Clinical and radiologic outcomes were assessed pre-operatively and post-operatively. Results: A total of 24 patients aged between 20 - 60 years of both sexes (Male-21, Female-03) were included in this study. Their mean (±SD) age was 33.12 (±8.57) years. Most of them were farmer [09 (37.5%)] and day labour [08 (33.33%)]. Motor vehicle accidents were the most common [16 (66.67%)] cause of injury and then fall from height [08 (33.33%)]. The most common level of injury involved was L1-10 (41.67%) patients, followed by L2-07 (29.17%), T12-05 (20.83%) and T11-02 (8.33%) of the study patients. Burst fracture was the commonest [22 (91.67%)] type of fracture followed by Chance fracture [02 (8.33%)]. Pre-operative mean (±SD) Cobb angle, Kyphotic deformation of vertebral body, Beck index and vertebral compression deformity were 21.83 ± 4.5 degrees, 22.09 ± 4.40 degrees, 0.78 ± 2.65 and 0.18 ± 0.93 mm respectively, after procedure which were significantly (p Conclusions: Long segment transpedicular screw fixation is an effective method of treatment in patients having thoracolumbar spine injury with incomplete neurological deficit.
