本调查自2012年7月至2012年9月在孟加拉吉大港动物园进行,确诊猴发生结核病。发病猴共46只,10至21月龄恒河猕猴表现出反应迟钝、明显消瘦的症状,皮内注射结核菌素,隔离检疫3天,仅有7只猴(15.22%)表现阳性结果。结核菌素阳性动物中,5只在一个月内死亡,剖检检查在肺脏发现结核结节。肺脏样品萋尼氏抗酸染色和组织病理学检查,在染片中观察到抗酸染色的结核分枝杆菌,组织病理学观察到淋巴细胞、嗜中性白细胞和实质中高度增生的纤维组织围绕着上皮样巨噬细胞形成结核性肉芽肿,肺脏的肺泡壁增厚。上述检查结果证明猕猴发生结核病。

Leaf Water Status and Its Relationship with Reproductive Responses of Common Bean (<i>Phaseolus vulgaris</i>L.) Genotypes under Water Stress

Two tolerant (BB24 and BB43) and two susceptible (BARI busbean-2 and BB04) genotypes of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were evaluated for their water status and its relationship with reproductive responses under continuous water stress (50% field capacity) and control (80% field capacity) conditions in a net house covered with polyethylene sheet at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Under water stress condition, the susceptible genotype namely BB04 exhibited more negative leaf water potential (LWP) which was followed by that of BARI bushbean-2 in all the time of the day except at noon. The tolerant genotype namely BB24 exhibited less negative LWP at noon. The tolerant genotypes maintained higher relative water content (WRC) than the susceptible ones from dawn to dusk. The relationship between RWC and LWP was examined separately for four genotypes under water stress condition. The genotype BB24 showed a smaller decrease in RWC with more negative LWP than BB04. Water stress reduced pod setting ratio. The relationship between the leaf water status and reproductive responses showed that the genotype with a little reduction in mid-day drop of RWC or with high mid-day RWC displayed a high pod setting ratio.

为了解南海北部陆架与陆坡区小型底栖动物的群落特征,以及影响群落特征的环境因素,2015年6月对南海北部海域(19.3°—21.4°N, 112.4°—115.1°E)7个站位的小型底栖动物及环境因子进行了采样,并对陆架和陆坡区小型底栖动物群落的丰度、生物量、类群组成和群落结构进行比较。结果表明,在陆架站位,小型底栖动物由13个类群组成,平均丰度为(132±130)ind./10cm^2,平均生物量为(169±79)μgdwt/10cm^2;在陆坡站位由8个类群组成,平均丰度为(33±14)ind./10cm^2,平均生物量为(56±35)μgdwt/10cm^2。单因素方差分析结果表明,陆坡区小型底栖动物的总丰度和总生物量以及线虫和多毛类的丰度均显著低于陆架区,但优势类群的相对丰度组成没有显著不同,海洋线虫占总丰度的83%,其次为多毛类和桡足类,分别占7%和3%。环境因子的主成分分析(Principal ComponentsAnalysis,PCA)将陆架和陆坡站位沿第一主分量轴分开,小型底栖生物丰度和生物量与沉积物叶绿素a和脱镁叶绿酸含量以及底层水温呈最大正相关,与水深呈负相关;聚类(Cluster)和排序(non-metric Multidimensional Scaling, md.),以相似性系数65%将7个站位划分为2组,与按照水深划分的陆架和陆坡组基本吻合;单因素相似性分析(one-way ANOSIM)显示陆架和陆坡区小型底栖动物群落结构差异显著;生物-环境分析(Biota-Environment,BIOENV)表明影响群落结构的最佳环境因子组合为叶绿素a和底层水温。综上可知,随水深增加的食物减少和底层水温的下降是限制南海北部研究海域小型底栖动物丰度和生物量及影响群落组成和结构的主要因素。

Objective:To investigate the clot lysis,antimicrobic and membrane stabilizing potentials of ethanolic extractives of the leaves of Heliotropium indicum(***).Methods:Crude ethanolic extracts of *** leaves were partitioned successively using solvents of different polarity and subjected to determine qualitatively and quantitatively for the presence of different bioactive constitutes and fractions which were assessed for their possible clot lysis,antimicrobic,and membrane stabilizing activities as compared with the known ***:For the thrombolytic activity,the petroleum ether soluble fraction showed the highest percent of clot lysis(35.4%)among all fractions,while streptokinase and water resulted in 65.15%and 3.77%clot lysis,*** respect to the membrane stabilizing activity,carbon tetrachloride soluble fraction of *** profoundly interdicted the hemolysis of erythrocytes brought about by osmotic induction(39.24%)or by heat(40.20%).The other fractions exhibited less significant membrane stabilizing *** contrast,acetylsalicylic acid resulted in 72.25%±0.30%inhibition of osmotically induced hemolysis and showed a lower level of protection of heat induced hemolysis(42.56%).Crude ethanolic extracts were moderately sensitive against known pathogenic *** pharmacological activities of *** are due to the presence of bioactive compounds,we detected and quantified the presence of significant levels of flavonoid and tannin ***:The outcomes of this research show that the leaves of *** have the potential to be used as a remedy for thrombosis,inflammatory diseases and against few important bacterial pathogens.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the common endocrinopathies of women in the reproductive age group. Thyroid hormones have various effects on the reproductive system of female. PCOS and thyroid dysfunction are linked to each other since several years. Objective: To evaluate and detect the thyroid dysfunction in patients with PCOS attending in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. Methodology: This was a prospective cross sectional study conducted from November 2018 to October 2019 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh on one hundred and fifty (150) PCOS women of reproductive age (15 - 45 years). All data of the study subjects regarding socio-demographic, anthropometric and clinical manifestations were recorded accordingly. Their thyroid function tests (serum level of FT3, FT4, TSH) were done at the hospital laboratory and results were recorded. Result: Mean (±SD) age of the study subjects was 24.57 ± 4.27 years. The maximum numbers [108 (72.0%)] of PCOS women were between 18 - 25 years age group. Among total (150) study population, 51 (34.0%) were overweight, 36 (24.0%) were obese and 63 (42.0%) were within normal weight level. Hirsutism was found in 87 (58%) study subjects while 24 (16%) subjects had acne in their face, 54 (36%) subjects had oligomenorrhea and 45 (30%) subjects had irregular periods. Among 150 PCOS women, 120 (80%) were married and 30 (20%) were single;of them primary infertility was detected in 58 (48.33%) women followed by the normal fertility status [51 (42.5%)] and 11 (9.17%) had secondary infertility. Among total (150) study subjects, 105 (70%) were in euthyroid state, hypothyroidism was found in 33 (22.0%) subjects and hyperthyroidism was detected in 12 (8%) subjects. Conclusions: Present study demonstrated that, thyroid disorders are prevalent in 30.0% of PCOS patients. Hypothyroidism is almost three-fold more prevalent than hyperthyroidism

高贫困率会极大地影响一个国家的经济社会发展。孟加拉国采取了诸多扶贫政策措施,取得了良好成效。孟加拉国贫困率从2005年的40.0%下降到了2020年的20.5%,短短15年内实现了贫困率减半。由于政府出台了扶贫专项措施,并重视社会支出,贫困人口的经济社会地位显著提升。成绩的取得主要归因于采取有针对性的措施、直接惠及贫困人口、包容性发展、基于宪法义务和理念、政策延续性及其渐进式推进,以及政府与非政府组织合作的强有力的制度框架。由于新冠疫情爆发,贫困加剧,孟加拉国应当延续上述政策。此外,长期性的解决方案能够激发贫困人口的潜能,鼓励他们参与生产活动,摆脱贫困。

Translational bioengineering strategies for peripheral nerve regeneration:opportunities,challenges,and novel concepts

Enterocytozoon bieneusi is a widespread opportunistic pathogen found in humans and domestic animals,including cattle that poses a public health *** study was performed to evaluate the prevalence,genotypic diversity,and zoonotic potential of *** among children and calves in Bangladesh.A total of 998 fecal samples were collected from children(n=299) and calves(n=699) and screened by nested PCR and sequencing of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(ITS).The overall prevalence of *** infection was 6.4% in children and 7.9% in *** sequence analysis of 74 isolates revealed 10 genotypes,including eight known genotypes(A,D,Type Ⅳ,PigEBITS7,I,J,BEB4,and BEB6) and two new genotypes(BANEB1 and BANEB3).Specifically,genotypes A,D,Type Ⅳ,PigEBITS7,BANEB1,and BANEB3,and genotypes D,PigEBITS7,I,J,BEB4,and BEB6 were detected in children and calves,*** them,genotypes D and I were dominant genotypes in children and calves,*** genotypes D and PigEBITS7 were found in both children and calves,with PigEBITS7 being observed for the first time in *** phylogenetic analysis,six genotypes(A,D, Type Ⅳ,PigEBITS7,BANEB1,and BANEB3),detected in 39.2% of the isolates,belonged to zoonotic Group *** remaining four genotypes I,J,BEB4,and BEB6 were clustered in Group 2 and are common members of the group with zoonotic *** the best of our knowledge,this study provides the first report of *** infection in calves in Bangladesh and also the first molecular characterization of the parasite in children and calves in this *** new genotypes in children have been found,which is ***,the presence of zoonotic genotypes indicates that cattle may serve as reservoirs for ***,which can be a source of human microsporidiosis.
