Ambulatory diastolic blood pressure:a marker of comorbidity in elderly fit hypertensive individuals?

BACKGROUND Masked diastolic hypotension is a new blood pressure(BP)pattern detected by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM)in elderly *** aim of this study was to relate ABPM and comorbidity in a cohort of fit elderly subjects attending an outpatient hypertension *** Comorbidity was assessed by Charlson comorbidity index(CCI)and CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc *** subjects evaluated with ABPM were aged≥65 *** and CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc score were *** hypotension was defined as mean am-bulatory diastolic BP<65 mmHg and logistic regression analysis was carried out in order to detect and independent relationship between comorbidity burden and night-time diastolic BP<65 *** We studied 174 hypertensive elderly patients aged 72.1±5.2 years,men were 93(53.4%).Mean CCI was 0.91±1.14 and mean CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc score of 2.68±*** with night-time mean diastolic values<65 mmHg were higher in females[54.7%vs.45.3%,P=0.048;odds ratio(OR)=1.914,95%CI:1.047−3.500].Logistic regression analysis showed that only CHA_(2)DS_(2)-VASc score was independently associated with night-time mean diastolic values<65 mmHg(OR=1.518,95%CI:1.161−1.985;P=0.002),but CCI was *** ABPM and comorbidity evaluation appear associated in elderly fit subjects with masked ***-orbid women appear to have higher risk for low ambulatory BP.

The experimental research, presented in this study, focuses on athletic tests with the purpose to highlight the elastic deformations of the bones of the lower limbs, intending to verify whether the manually treated anatomical structure increases in elasticity, becoming able to accumulate more energy in the loading phase, to then release it in the final phase of the thrust. Introduction: Too often neglected, the bone tissue is capable of deforming. The deformation has a key role in the cushioning and dissipation of stress, a function that is hindered in the event of fascial tension, which will consequently fall on other structures used for the same purpose (Discs, menisci, cartilage, …). Structures that, in the event of increased mechanical stress, could undergo degeneration, inflammation, and injury. Materials and Method: Randomized double-blind selection of 38 people, 18 in the treatment group and 20 in the control group, men and women, aged between 16 and 35, who have been part, for at least one year, of a sports club, with a large space dedicated to jumping in its training program, have been divided into two groups: the treatment group, which was treated to increase the performance of the jump and the control group subjected to mild manual pressures, without any intention. Results: The treatment group had an increase in Standing Long Jump (SLJ) for 3.67% (p Conclusions: This study has shown that an osteopathic manipulative treatment, aimed at increasing jumping performance, can increase the performance of the SLJ.

Inaugurated in June 2012, the Carapace at Castelbuono Estate Winery in Italy is a highly interesting example of biomorphic architecture. The structure, an artistic creation of world-renowned sculptor Arnatdo Pomodoro, is reminiscent of a tortoise shell that conveys a sense of protection： the Carapace structure guards wine barriques in the same way that the tortoise carapace protects the animal. Zoomorphic aspects are further exhibited by symbots on the roof, which remind observers of cuttlefish bone, a recurring element in the artistic production of Maestro Pomodoro. The roof was constructed by assembly of single copper plates with a rough surface in accordance with the design of the artist. Therefore, determining the appropriate production process was crucial. Etectroforming was selected as the method to achieve a challenging architectural goal.

Despite new therapeutic options,patients with heart failure(HF)still progress to advanced *** particular,patients who developed a severe left ventricular(LV)systolic and/or diastolic dysfunction with higher degree of NYHA class,recurrent hospitalizations for HF and showing a severe impairment of exercise capacity were defined as“advanced HF”.[1]Levosimendan was recently approved in order to treat patients hospitalized for acute decompensated HF(ADHF)with severe systolic *** pharmacolo-gical effects of levosimendan consists of inotropy,vasodilatation and cardioprotection increasing of calcium sensitivity.[2]These effects should be mon-itored with echocardiography.[3]In particular,in ad-vanced HF patients,levosimendan showed positive effects in reducing mortality and three months hos-pitalization;about quality of life and symptoms im-provement,levosimendan showed contrasting ef-fect among the studies on advanced HF patients available.

The development of nanotechnology in the past two decades has generated great capability of controlling materials at the nanometer scale and has enabled exciting opportunities to design materials with desirable electronic, ionic, photonic, and mechanical properties. This development has also contributed to tile advance in energy storage, which is a critical technology in this century. In this article, we will review how the rational design of nanostructured materials has addressed the challenges of batteries and electrochemical capacitors and led to high-performance electrochemical energy storage devices. Four specific material systems will be discussed： i） nanostructured alloy anodes for Li-batteries, ii） nanostructured sulfur cathodes for Li-batteries, iii） nanoporous open- framework battery electrodes, and iv） nanostructured electrodes for electrochemical capacitors.

Objective:To investigate whether the increase of tumor necrosis factor alpha is dependent on lipidic component of malarial ***:Adherent human monocytes were fed for 3 hours with different meals(native hemozoin;lipid free hemozoin;and control latex particles),then tumor necrosis factor alpha was monitored in cell supernatants up to 48 hours through western blotting or specific enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent *** selected experiments,unfed monocytes were treated with different doses of 15(S,R)-hydroxy-6,8,11,13-eicosatetraenoic acid or 4-hydroxynonenal instead of ***:Hemozoin-fed monocytes produced higher levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha than unstimulated and latex-fed cells, while lipid-free hemozoin did not reproduce these ***,hemozoin effects were mimicked dose-dependently by 15(S,R)-hydroxy-6,8,11,13-eicosatetraenoic acid,but not by ***:Present data suggest an essential role for lipids in hemozoindependent enhanced release of tumor necrosis factor alpha from monocytes,and 15(S,R)hydroxy -6,8,11,13-eicosatetraenoic acid could be one possible specific mediator.
