Single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)has become a routinely used technique to quantify the gene expression profile of thousands of single cells *** of scRNA-seq data plays an important role in the study of cell states and phenotypes,and has helped elucidate biological processes,such as those occurring during the development of complex organisms,and improved our understanding of disease states,such as cancer,diabetes,and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Deep learning,a recent advance of artificial intelligence that has been used to address many problems involving large datasets,has also emerged as a promising tool for scRNA-seq data analysis,as it has a capacity to extract informative and compact features from noisy,heterogeneous,and high-dimensional scRNA-seq data to improve downstream *** present review aims at surveying recently developed deep learning techniques in scRNA-seq data analysis,identifying key steps within the scRNA-seq data analysis pipeline that have been advanced by deep learning,and explaining the benefits of deep learning over more conventional analytic ***,we summarize the challenges in current deep learning approaches faced within scRNA-seq data and discuss potential directions for improvements in deep learning algorithms for scRNA-seq data analysis.

Significant optical engineering advances at the University of Arizona are being made for design, fabrication, and construction of next generation astronomical telescopes. This summary review paper focuses on the technological advances in three key areas. First is the optical fabrication technique used for constructing next-generation telescope mirrors. Advances in ground-based telescope control and instrumentation comprise the second area of development. This includes active alignment of the laser truss-based Large Binocular Telescope(LBT) prime focus camera, the new MOBIUS modular cross-dispersion spectroscopy unit used at the prime focal plane of the LBT, and topological pupil segment optimization. Lastly, future space telescope concepts and enabling technologies are discussed. Among these, the Nautilus space observatory requires challenging alignment of segmented multi-order diffractive elements. The OASIS terahertz space telescope presents unique challenges for characterizing the inflatable primary mirror, and the Hyperion space telescope pushes the limits of high spectral resolution, far-UV spectroscopy. The Coronagraphic Debris and Exoplanet Exploring Pioneer(CDEEP) is a Small Satellite(Small Sat) mission concept for high-contrast imaging of circumstellar disks and exoplanets using vector vortex coronagraph. These advances in optical engineering technologies will help mankind to probe, explore, and understand the scientific beauty of our universe.

The probative value of animal forensic genetic evidence relies on laboratory accuracy and ***-laboratory comparisons allow laboratories to evaluate their performance on specific tests and analyses and to continue to monitor their *** International Society for Animal Genetics(ISAG)administered animal forensic comparison tests(AFCTs)in 2016 and 2018 to assess the limitations and capabilities of laboratories offering forensic identification,parentage and species determination *** AFCTs revealed that analyses of low DNA template concentrations(≤300 pg/μL)constitute a significant challenge that has prevented many laboratories from reporting correct identification and parentage ***,a lack of familiarity with species testing protocols,interpretation guidelines and representative databases prevented over a quarter of the participating laboratories from submitting correct species determination *** laboratories showed improvement in their genotyping accuracy over ***,the use of forensically validated standards,such as a standard forensic short tandem repeat(STR)kit,preferably with an allelic ladder,and stricter guidelines for STR typing,may have prevented some common issues from occurring,such as genotyping inaccuracies,missing data,elevated stutter products and loading *** AFCTs underscore the importance of conducting routine forensic comparison tests to allow laboratories to compare results from each *** should keep improving their scientific and technical capabilities and continuously evaluate their personnel’s proficiency in critical techniques such as low copy number(LCN)analysis and species *** this is the first time that the ISAG has conducted comparison tests for forensic testing,findings from these AFCTs may serve as the foundation for continuous improvements of the overall quality of animal forensic genetic testing.

High performance control of an interactive process such as iron and steel plant relies on ability to honor safety and operational constraints;reduce the standard deviations of variables that need to be controlled(*** quantity,quality );de-bottlenecking the process;and,maximize profitability or lower cost(*** savings, improve hot metal content).These objectives may be prioritized in this order,but can vary and are very difficult to achieve optimally through conventional control.A multivariable predictive controller solution,along with its extensive inferential sensor and built-in optimizer,provides online closed loop control and optimization for many interactive metal and mining processes to lower the energy cost,increase throughput,and optimize product quality and yield. Control loop performance is also a key factor to improve iron and steel plant automation and operation result; Honeywell CPM offers vender-independent product which provides monitoring,tuning,modeling of control loop and sustainable loop performance analysis and maintenance solution towards operation stability and energy saving.
