It has been reported that trivalent cerium salts are effective inhibitors for corrosion of AA2024-T3 in neutral to alkaline co rrosive enviro nments,but poor in acidic *** this study,work was done for extending corrosion resistance provided by Ce(NO_(3))_(3)to acidic pHs as low as 2.5 through the addition of iodide *** this end,potentiodynamic polarization was used to ascertain the optimum Ce(Ⅲ)concentration for the inhibition of AA2024-T3 corrosion in 3.5%NaCl *** optimum concentration is found to be in a range between 0.1 and 0.3 mmol/L Ce(Ⅲ).This optimum concentration also gives a maximum width of the passive region under the pitting potential(Epit).Based on this optimization,further work was performed as a function of pH without and in the presence of 0.01 mol/L KI at five pH values(2.5,4,5,7,and 8).Without iodide the best inhibition provided by the Ce(Ⅲ)cation is at pH=7 but active corrosion is observed at pH=2.5 with an estimated inhibitor efficiency(-37.6%).The addition of iodide ions(I^(-))reverses the poor corrosion resistance whereby the inhibitor efficiency becomes 47.7%.Moreover,at pH=4 the efficiency is also increased from 54.0%to 81.0%with iodide addition providing a significant improvement over Ce(Ⅲ)cations alone under acidic *** is a synergistic effect between I-anion and Ce(Ⅲ)cation,which is determined to be 2.4 and 2.1 at pH=2.5and 4.0,*** pH=5 and 7 there is virtually no change in inhibition but at pH=8 the inhibition falls away due to a considerable amount of cerium precipitating out of solution as cerium *** protective film formed on sites in the aluminium alloy surface at different pH values was examined by both scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to determine the role of these ions as a function of pH in surface *** is proposed that at pH=2.5 protection is provided by a bilayer adsorption of iodide with"cap

Observables from vector meson photoproduction by linearly-polarized photons can be expressed in term of bilinear combinations of helicity amplitudes parameterized by the Spin Density Matrix Elements （SDMEs）. These SDMEs give straightforward relations for understanding the nature of the parity exchange at threshold energies, as well as for extracting signatures of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka violation. This paper will show preliminary measurements of SDMEs for γp →φp in the photon energy range of 1.7 to 1.9 GeV （momentum transfer squared t range of -1.2 to -0.25 GeV2） and 1.9 to 2.1 CeV （t range of -1.4 to -0.25 GeV2） from the g8b experimental data collected in the summer of 2005 in the Hall B of Jefferson Lab.

Dietary and metabolomic determinants of relapse in ulcerative colitis patients: A pilot prospective cohort study

AIM To identify demographic, clinical, metabolomic, and lifestyle related predictors of relapse in adult ulcerative colitis(UC) *** In this prospective pilot study, UC patients in clinical remission were recruited and followed-up at 12 mo to assess a clinical relapse, or not. At baseline information on demographic and clinical parameters was collected. Serum and urine samples were collected for analysis of metabolomic assays using a combined direct infusion/liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resolution spectroscopy. Stool samples were also collected to measure fecal calprotectin(FCP). Dietary assessment was performed using a validated self-administered food frequency questionnaire. RESULTS Twenty patients were included(mean age: 42.7 ± 14.8 years, females: 55%). Seven patients(35%) experienced a clinical relapse during the follow-up period. While 6 patients(66.7%) with normal body weight developed a clinical relapse, 1 UC patient(9.1%) who was overweight/obese relapsed during the follow-up(P = 0.02). At baseline, poultry intake was significantly higher in patients who were still in remission during follow-up(0.9 oz vs 0.2 oz, P = 0.002). Five patients(71.4%) with FCP > 150 μg/g and 2 patients(15.4%) with normal FCP(≤ 150 μg/g) at baseline relapsed during the follow-up(P = 0.02). Interestingly, baseline urinary and serum metabolomic profiling of UC patients with or without clinical relapse within 12 mo showed a significant difference. The most important metabolites that were responsible for this discrimination were trans-aconitate, cystine and acetamide in urine, and 3-hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate and acetone in serum. CONCLUSION A combination of baseline dietary intake, fecal calprotectin, and metabolomic factors are associated with risk of UC clinical relapse within 12 mo.

Background:The 13‐MD is a new generic instrument developed to measure general health‐related quality of life(GHRQoL).This instrument considers all aspects of health(i.e.,physical,mental,and social)in a balanced way.A previous study led to minor changes in the original version of the 13‐*** objective of this study was to confirm the validity of the modified 13‐***:Validity was assessed with recent data from the general population of Quebec,*** meta‐dimensions and items composing the 13‐MD were also subjected to a ranking procedure,which allowed to determine the most important aspects for ***:A total of 1337 French‐speaking participants were recruited with 1099 completing the 13‐MD for validation purposes and 1084 completing the ranking *** 13‐MD showed very satisfactory results and confirmed to be a valid *** ranking of the meta‐dimensions revealed that“Well‐being”received the most points,followed by“Sleep and energy”and“Body functioning.”Conclusion:These results will be very useful in the continuous improvement of the 13‐MD,ultimately leading to the valuation stage(i.e.,development of a value set).

A versatile approach signifying the morphology-dependent dielectric polarization and relaxation mechanisms of cadmium oxide(CdO)nanosphere,nanoflakes and nanoparallelepiped morphotypes as a function of frequency and temperature is *** of dielectric property is observed due to the changes of space charge/interfacial polarization resulting from the variations of surface to volume ratio of ***,colossal dielectric constant value has been observed in CdO nano-sphere having larger surface to volume *** order of dielectric constant(dc)values observed for the present nanomorphologies is:dc of sphere>dc of flakes>dc of parallelepiped resembles the order of surface to volume ratios of the present morphologies *** experimental data of complex impedance values are numerically fitted using theoretical models which provide the information of role of grain resistance on dielectric polarization and cole–cole type mechanism of dielectric relaxation *** activation energies for electron transport are found to be 0.087 eV for spheres,0.074 eV for flakes and 0.067 for parallelepiped nanomorphotypes of *** dielectric and impedance spectroscopic analysis of the present material opens up wide scope for morphology-dependent tuning of nanomaterials for electrical applications.

The addition of surface acoustic wave(SAW)technologies to microfluidics has greatly advanced lab-on-a-chip applications due to their unique and powerful attributes,including high-precision manipulation,versatility,integrability,biocompatibility,contactless nature,and rapid ***,the development of SAW microfluidic devices is limited by complex and time-consuming micro/nanofabrication techniques and access to cleanroom facilities for multistep photolithography and vacuum-based *** simplify the fabrication of SAW microfluidic devices with customizable dimensions and functions,we utilized the additive manufacturing technique of aerosol jet *** successfully fabricated customized SAW microfluidic devices of varying materials,including silver nanowires,graphene,and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)polystyrene sulfonate(PEDOT:PSS).To characterize and compare the acoustic actuation performance of these aerosol jet printed SAW microfluidic devices with their cleanroom-fabricated counterparts,the wave displacements and resonant frequencies of the different fabricated devices were directly measured through scanning laser Doppler ***,to exhibit the capability of the aerosol jet printed devices for lab-on-a-chip applications,we successfully conducted acoustic streaming and particle concentration ***,we demonstrated a novel solution-based,direct-write,single-step,cleanroom-free additive manufacturing technique to rapidly develop SAW microfluidic devices that shows viability for applications in the fields of biology,chemistry,engineering,and medicine.

The Hickeliinae(Poaceae:Bambusoideae) is an ecologically and economically significant subtribe of tropical bamboos restricted to Madagascar,Comoros,Reunion Island,and a small part of continental Africa(Tanzania).Because these bamboos rarely flower,field identification is challenging,and inferring the evolutionary history of Hickeliinae from herbarium specimens is even more *** phylogenetic work is critical to understanding this group of ***,comparative analysis of 22 newly sequenced plastid genomes showed that members of all genera of Hickeliinae share evolutionarily conserved plastome *** also determined that Hickeliinae plastome sequences are informative for phylogenetic *** analysis showed that all genera of Hickeliinae are monophyletic,except for Nastus,which is paraphyletic and forms two distant *** type species of Nastus(Clade Ⅱ) is endemic to Reunion Island and is not closely related to other sampled species of Nastus endemic to Madagascar(Clade Ⅵ).Clade Ⅵ(Malagasy Nastus) is sister to the Sokinochloa+Hitchcockella clade(Clade Ⅴ),and both clades have a clumping habit with short-necked pachymorph *** monotypic Decaryochloa is remarkable in having the longest floret in Bambuseae and forms a distinct Clade Ⅳ.Clade Ⅲ,which has the highest generic diversity,consists of Cathariostachys,Perrierbambus,Sirochloa,and Valiha,which are also morphologically *** work provides significant resources for further genetic and phylogenomic studies of Hickeliinae,an understudied subtribe of bamboo.
