3D numerical investigation of effects of density and surface tension on mixing time in bottom-blown gas-stirred ladles

In molten phase metallurgical processes,mixing via gas injection has a vital role in obtaining a homogeneous *** efficiency of mixing depends on operational variables such as gas flow rate and slag height as well as physical properties of the molten phases.A numerical simulation is conducted to study the above parameters in the flow behavior of a bottom-blown *** molten metal and the slag are modeled by water and oil,*** numerical results,particularly the mixing time,are validated against experimental *** results show that mixing time increases as the slag height increases and decreases as the density of the slag material *** mixing time decreases with an increase in the density of the primary phase;however,it increases as the surface tension between air and water increases.A case with properties close to a real molten metal is also *** performance of the system is influenced by the momentum rather than the dissipative ***,the effect of the density of the molten phase on the mixing process is more pronounced compared to the effect of the surface tension between the air and the molten phase.

Objective:To test the effect of supplementation of Thymus vulgaris L.(***)or Glycyrrhizaglabra(***)in corn-soybean meal diets as well as the inclusion of an exogenous enzyme ***^(®)in barley-soybean meal diets together with mentioned medicinal plants in broiler ***:A total of 270 unsexed 1-day-old broiler chickens(Ross 308)was randomly assigned to 6 treatments with 3 replications of 15 birds in *** were comprised of the control(T1),the inclusion of ***,***,their mixture(equal amount),Combo^(®)supplementation(T2,T3,T4 and T5,respectively)in diets based on corn-soybean meal diets and enzyme supplementation plus equal amount of tested medicinal plants(T6)based on barley-soybean meal *** plants and enzyme were included in diets at level 0.5%and 0.2%of diets,***:The highest feed intake was obtained by T1 at 1-21 d of age(P<0.05).All diets caused significant increases in weight gain and significant decreases in feed conversion ratio compared to control at this age(P<0.05).Significant reductions were acquired in feed intake by T3 and T6 at 22-42 d of age(P<0.05).All diets significantly decreased total number of aerobic bacteria,coliforms,Gram-negative bacteria and increased lactic acid bacteria compared to control(P<0.05).Conclusions:The results showed that basal diet has vital character to effectiveness of medicinal plants in broiler *** effects on intestinal microflora were brought by use of *** *** *** in corn-based diets or in barley-based diets together with ***,this capability can support growth performance of broiler chickens at lower age.

Wear behavior and dry sliding tribological properties of ultra-fine grained Al5083 alloy and boron carbide-reinforced Al5083-based composite at room and elevated temperatures

Tribological behavior and wear mechanisms of mechanically milled Al5083 alloy and Al5083−5wt.%B4C composite at room temperature and 200°C were *** revealed that due to the oxidative wear at room temperature,a mechanically mixed layer(MML)was formed to protect the surface of the *** 80 N of load at room temperature,the milled Al5083 and the Al5083−5wt.%B4C samples showed evidence of abrasion with limited volume *** this case,the wear rates were 5.8×10−7 and 4.4×10−7 mm3/(m·N),*** 200°C and under 80 N of applied load,severe wear occurred in the milled Al5083 sample,and wear rate reached 10.8×10−7 mm3/(m·N)while the Al5083−5wt.%B4C sample showed mild wear with local 3-body abrasion and the wear rate reached 5.3×10−7 mm3/(m·N).Strengthening mechanisms such as dislocation pinning and the Hall−Petch theory,high hardness and the load transfer effect were crucial in determining the wear behavior of the Al5083−5wt.%B4C *** the other hand,the milled Al5083 sample represented a relatively high wear rate at 200°C,which seemed to be related to the local grain growth and a drop in its hardness.
