PM_(2.5) source apportionment in a French urban coastal site under steelworks emission influences using constrained non-negative matrix factorization receptor model

The constrained weighted-non-negative matrix factorization（CW-NMF） hybrid receptor model was applied to study the influence of steelmaking activities on PM_（2.5）（particulate matter with equivalent aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 μm） composition in Dunkerque,Northern France. Semi-diurnal PM_（2.5）samples were collected using a high volume sampler in winter 2010 and spring 2011 and were analyzed for trace metals, water-soluble ions, and total carbon using inductively coupled plasma – atomic emission spectrometry（ICP-AES）,ICP- mass spectrometry（ICP-MS）, ionic chromatography and micro elemental carbon analyzer. The elemental composition shows that NO_3^-, SO_4^（2-）, NH_4~＋and total carbon are the main PM_（2.5）constituents. Trace metals data were interpreted using concentration roses and both influences of integrated steelworks and electric steel plant were evidenced. The distinction between the two sources is made possible by the use Zn/Fe and Zn/Mn diagnostic ratios. Moreover Rb/Cr, Pb/Cr and Cu/Cd combination ratio are proposed to distinguish the ISW-sintering stack from the ISW-fugitive emissions. The a priori knowledge on the influencing source was introduced in the CW-NMF to guide the calculation. Eleven source profiles with various contributions were identified： 8 are characteristics of coastal urban background site profiles and 3 are related to the steelmaking activities. Between them,secondary nitrates, secondary sulfates and combustion profiles give the highest contributions and account for 93% of the PM_（2.5）concentration. The steelwork facilities contribute in about 2%of the total PM_（2.5）concentration and appear to be the main source of Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn.

The Article follows the trail of Max Weber's comprehensive sociology and uses the hermeneutic and iconological analysis methods applied to significant contemporary plastic art works(painting and sculpture)which are representative of modern and late modern *** from these theoretical and methodological bases,it pursues three specific objectives:(a)to analyze the construction of Time in plastic art,(b)to verify how this theme has evolved in artistic practices from the first modernity to the second and(c)to verify the way in which the complementary visual language the conceptual of contemporary sociological *** this regard,our paper provides evidence that the selected works prioritize a kind of temporality determined by the logic of capitalist industrial *** likewise becomes obvious that time—focused on an accelerated and instantaneous omnipresent—lacks both an origin and a telos\it has neither a past nor a future and,in parallel,a gap has opened between the time of natural life and the artificial one,as well as between space and time,which is only transiently bridged at the imaginary level of ***,the experience of time has been emptied,in such a way that the latter has lost some of its solidity and让s sense of permanence,while the contingent,the fleeting and the ephemeral now occupy in its place.

Factors Influencing Salespeople Ethics： The Case of Car Dealers

Ethical behavior has been marked as a factor influencing the performance of sales people. Sales team managers are anxious to know what factors influence their salespeople in order to encourage sellers to behave ethically. This article proposes to study the factors influencing the ethical behavior of the sellers and especially sellers in auto dealerships. A questionnaire was given to salespeople from auto dealerships using the scenario method to measure the ethic. It has proposed an eight-step methodology, based on the thought of Aristotle, which, to people’s knowledge, is the only measure to operationalize ethics. Scenarios have been then created, which seem to be the best method to measure salespeople’s ethics behavior. Then a classical method was used to measure seller’s performance. The results can show that ethic is a personal value which, when high, allows sellers to better understand the values of the company. The existence of formal ethical codes also permits sellers to behave in an ethical way.

Two-dimensional graphene,carbon nanotubes,and graphene nanoribbons represent a novel class of low dimensional materials that could serve as building blocks for future carbon-based *** these systems share a similar underlying electronic structure,whose exact details depend on confi nement effects,crucial differences emerge when disorder comes into *** this review,we consider the transport properties of these materials,with particular emphasis on the case of graphene *** summarizing the electronic and transport properties of defect-free systems,we focus on the effects of a model disorder potential(Anderson-type),and illustrate how transport properties are sensitive to the underlying *** provide analytical expressions for the elastic mean free path of carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoribbons,and discuss the onset of weak and strong localization regimes,which are genuinely dependent on the transport *** also consider the effects of edge disorder and roughness for graphene nanoribbons in relation to their armchair or zigzag orientation.

The formation and control of a room-temperature magnetic order in two- dimensional （2D） materials is a challenging quest for the advent of innovative magnetic- and spintronic-based technologies. To date, edge magnetism in 2D materials has been experimentally observed in hydrogen （H）-terminated graphene nanoribbons （GNRs） and graphene nanomeshes （GNMs）, but the measured magnetization remains far too small to allow envisioning practical applications. Herein, we report experimental evidences of large room-temperature edge ferromagnetism （FM） obtained from oxygen （O）-terminated zigzag pore edges of few-layer black phosphorus （P） nanomeshes （BPNMs）. The magnetization values per unit area are -100 times larger than those reported for H-terminated GNMs, while the magnetism is absent for H-terminated BPNMs. The magnetization measurements and the first-principles simulations suggest that the origin of such a magnetic order could stem from ferromagnetic spin coupling between edge P with O atoms, resulting in a strong spin localization at the edge valence band, and from uniform oxidation of full pore edges over a large area and interlayer spin interaction. Our findings pave the way for realizing high-efficiency 2D flexible magnetic and spintronic devices without the use of rare magnetic elements.

Evaluation of Fuel Cell Vehicle Regarding Hybridization Degree and Its Impact on Range, Weight and Energy Consumption

PUMA Mind is a co-funded project aimed at enhancing the understanding of the behavior of fuel cell systems in vehicles taking advantage of the new freedoms in design that electric powertrains provide. Within this project, IDIADA focused on the integration of fuel cell systems in the automotive sector and the resulting fuel cell power demand profiles were used as base line to develop the fuel cell technology within the scope of the project. This paper presents a further study on the PUMA Mind vehicles with the simulation software for Simulink environment vemSim developed at IDIADA. The paper deals with the sizing of a pure fuel cell vehicle, a hybrid fuel cell vehicle and a plug-in hybrid fuel cell vehicle. For each case, a dynamic vehicle model and an energy management algorithm were implemented in vemSim in order to calculate the required energy storage and optimize the powertrain efficiency and range in a variety of real driving conditions. Finally, simulations results were used to evaluate the impact of the hybridization degree on vehicle weight, components size, hydrogen and electric consumption and variability of the fuel cell and battery load. Those results unveil that all typologies of hybridization mentioned in the following paragraphs reach the target of range and obtain good performances according to different mission profiles.

Geoscience Education in an Irish Context: A Need for Research

Perception and understanding of geoscience in Ireland by non-geoscientists have not been studied in depth, and an improvement in understanding how geoscience is perceived and engaged with will have significant impact on Ireland’s ability to meet a range of challenges, including hotly debated geoscience issues such as fossil fuel dependency, raw mineral management, water security, and shale gas extraction (particularly fracking). Geoscience plays an important role in society, and the understanding of geoscience of an average Irish person will be based on formal education (at primary and secondary level) and informal education through public outreach and news media. Geoscience is expanding in formal education and informal education is increasingly delivered online. Geoscience education in Ireland has not been studied in detail, and a better understanding of the state of geoscience education could improve connections between geoscientists and non-geoscientists. This paper discusses the scope of potential research into geoscience education in Ireland that could and should be undertaken in order to best understand and describe the state of geoscience education, and geoscience in society. Mixed-method research should be undertaken to study geoscience education at multiple levels and targeting multiple publics. This research into the state of geoscience education in Ireland would be valuable, to geoscientists and educators.
