Artificial/seminatural environments,such as aquacultural ponds,saltpans,and croplands,have recently been acknowledged as important habitats for coastal *** coastal waterbirds tend to use artificial habitats around tidal flats as roosting sites during high-tide,it remains unclear whether the importance of surrounding habitats relative to tidal flats varies among landscape types,seasons,species,or tidal *** Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor)and Eurasian Spoonbill(***)are two closely related sympatric species in East Asia with narrow and wide distribution ranges and habitat requirements,*** therefore expect that both species will use surrounding artificial habitats across seasons at high tides,but Blackfaced Spoonbills will use them less frequently than Eurasian ***,we address these hypotheses in the Imazu tidal flat and its surrounding environments in southern *** investigated the habitat use and behavioral patterns of both species through route and behavioral surveys during the fall migration and wintering seasons in *** found that both species used surrounding habitats including artificial ones more frequently than the tidal flat regardless of the tidal condition or season,but spoonbills used these habitats more frequently in winter than in *** also found that Eurasian Spoonbills foraged in surrounding artificial habitats more frequently than Black-faced *** results not only demonstrate how coastal waterbirds exploit surrounding habitats relative to tidal flats but also suggest that the importance of surrounding habitats varies among species and *** study thus emphasizes that valuing and managing surrounding habitats in addition to tidal flats are key to conserving globally declining waterbirds.

The tidal triggering of earthquakes has been studied for many *** discovery of slow earthquakes in the early 2000s,including slow slip,has urged scientists to investigate the tidal responses of these earthquakes due to their sensitivity to weak stress *** studies have shown that slow earthquakes correlate with diurnal and semidiurnal tides and seasonal variations in surface loads more clearly than ordinary ***,little is known about long-term responses to external *** this paper,based on a widely accepted frictional law for faults,a mechanism is proposed by which nontidal variations in ocean bottom pressure,when combined with tides,pro mote the occurrence of slow *** slow earthquakes accompany a slip on the plate interface,this mechanism allows one to estimate slip modulations.A one-degree-of-freedom slip model is constructed and applied to Ise Bay in the Tonankai region of southwestern Japan,where large-scale ocean mass redistributions have *** model calculated with parameters determined from the observation of tectonic tremors is quantitatively consistent with the slip during 1997-2013 inferred from GNSS data,suggesting that the decrease in the sea-level change in approximately 2006 could cause the accele ration of a slip observed after *** result implies that the decreases in sea level in approximately 1996 and 2014 could also cause subsequent slip *** three slip acceleration periods temporally coincide with the increases in background seismicity in a shallower portion of the plate *** changes in seismicity are common to shallow earthquakes in the Tokai area,and a similar model can reproduce *** studies are expected to reveal causality between shallow earthquakes and long-term slip fluctuations based on modeling that considers changes in the frictional property along the plate interface.

The laser trapping of untransmissive particles are discussed in this paper. Photon can generate the momentum tothe untransmissive particle by diffraction and reflection on the surface of the particles. Objective Shock heart syndrome(SHS)is associated with lethal arrhythmias(ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation,VT/VF).We investigated whether liposome-encapsulated human hemoglobin vesicles(HbVs)has comparable persistent efficacy to washed red blood cells(wRBCs)for improving arrhythmogenesis in the subacute to chronic phase of *** Optical mapping analysis(OMP),electrophysiological study(EPS),and pathological examinations were performed on blood samples from Sprague-Dawley rats following induction of hemorrhagic *** hemorrhagic shock,the rats were immediately resuscitated by transfusing 5%albumin(ALB),HbV,or *** rats survived for 1 *** and EPS were performed on Langendorff-perfused *** arrhythmias and heart rate variability(HRV)were evaluated using awake 24-h telemetry,cardiac function by echocardiography,and pathological examination of *** OMP showed significantly impaired action potential duration dispersion(APDd)in the left ventricle(LV)in the ALB group whereas APDd was substantially preserved in the HbV and wRBCs *** VT/VF was easily provoked by EPS in the ALB *** VT/VF was induced in the HbV and wRBCs ***,spontaneous arrhythmias,and cardiac function were preserved in the HbV and wRBCs *** showed myocardial cell damage and Connexin43 degradation in the ALB group,all of which were attenuated in the HbV and wRBCs *** LV remodeling after hemorrhagic shock caused VT/VF in the presence of impaired *** to wRBCs,HbV persistently prevented VT/VF by inhibiting persistent electrical remodeling,preserving myocardial structures,and ameliorating arrhythmogenic modifying factors in the subacute to chronic phase of hemorrhagic shock-induced SHS.
