The COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in Wuhan China has generated substantial morbidity and mortality impact around the world during the last four *** daily trend in reported cases has been rapidly rising in Latin America since March 2020 with the great majority of the cases reported in Brazil followed by Peru as of April 15th,*** Peru implemented a range of social distancing measures soon after the confirmation of its first case on March 6th,2020,the daily number of new COVID-19 cases continues to accumulate in this *** assessed the early COVID-19 transmission dynamics and the effect of social distancing interventions in Lima,*** estimated the reproduction number,R,during the early transmission phase in Lima from the daily series of imported and autochthonous cases by the date of symptoms onset as of March 30th,*** also assessed the effect of social distancing interventions in Lima by generating short-term forecasts grounded on the early transmission dynamics before interventions were put in *** to the implementation of the social distancing measures in Lima,the local incidence curve by the date of symptoms onset displays near exponential growth dynamics with the mean scaling of growth parameter,p,estimated at 0.96(95%CI:0.87,1.0)and the reproduction number at 2.3(95%CI:2.0,2.5).Our analysis indicates that school closures and other social distancing interventions have helped slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus,with the nearly exponential growth trend shifting to an approximately linear growth trend soon after the broad scale social distancing interventions were put in place by the *** the interventions appear to have slowed the transmission rate in Lima,the number of new COVID-19 cases continue to accumulate,highlighting the need to strengthen social distancing and active case finding efforts to mitigate disease transmission in the region.

Nitric oxide(NO)is an essential reactive oxygen species and a signal molecule in *** several studies have proposed the occurrence of oxidative NO production,only reductive routes for NO production,such as the nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))-upper-reductase pathway,have been evidenced to date in land ***,plants grown axenically with ammonium as the sole source of nitrogen exhibit contents of nitrite and NO3−,evidencing the existence of a metabolic pathway for oxidative production of *** hypothesized that oximes,such as indole-3-acetaldoxime(IAOx),a precursor to indole-3-acetic acid,are intermediate oxidation products in NO *** detected the production of NO from IAOx and other oximes catalyzed by peroxidase(POD)enzyme using both 4-amino-5-methylamino-2′,7′-difluorescein fluorescence and *** stimulated the reaction,while superoxide dismutase inhibited ***,mouse NO synthase can also use IAOx to produce NO at a lower rate than *** provided a full mechanism for POD-dependent NO production from IAOx consistent with the experimental data and supported by density functional theory *** showed that the addition of IAOx to extracts from Medicago truncatula increased the in vitro production of NO,while in vivo supplementation of IAOx and other oximes increased the number of lateral roots,as shown for NO donors,and a more than 10-fold increase in IAOx dehydratase ***,we found that in vivo supplementation of IAOx increased NO production in Arabidopsis thaliana wild-type plants,while prx33-34 mutant plants,defective in POD33-34,had reduced *** data show that the release of NO by IAOx,as well as its auxinic effect,explain the superroot ***,our study reveals that plants produce NO utilizing diverse molecules such as oximes,POD,and flavins,which are widely distributed in the plant kingdom,thus introducing a long-awaited oxidative pathway to NO production in plants.T

Application of a new reagent for analysis of oxygen presence in a lowcarbon steel wire rod

A microstructural analysis was performed to determine the presence of oxygen in a wire rod section of AISI 1008 steel with a surface mechanical failure produced during wire *** failure zone was analyzed by comparison using three different attack reagents:alkaline sodium chromate(ASC),ASC with hydrogen peroxide and amyl alcohol,and a solution of nitric acid in ethyl *** reagents were applied in samples in the failure zone,showing different types of zones in regions with internal and superficial defects such as carbides,pores,cracks,deformation,and detachment zones,indicating the possible presence of *** areas identified were observed by means of an optical microscope and were correlated with the content of elements that were present in the region using a scanning electron microscope and a scattered X-ray energy spectrometer,which determined that the areas identified by chromate sodium correspond to regions with a high concentration of oxygen and slag-forming elements such as silicon,aluminum,and iron;this is associated with the presence of oxygen in the oxide *** was also observed that the ASC and the modified ASC solution with hydrogen peroxide and amyl alcohol could identify areas with a high presence of oxides,while the nitric acid solution only identified the steel *** modified ASC solution is an alternative to identify the presence of chemical variants of oxygen because the conventional formulation is unstable and has a too short shelf life,and therefore,its application must be carried out at the time of preparation.

Langmuir Probe and Optical Emission Spectroscopy Studies of Low-Pressure Gas Mixture of CO_2 and N_2

Optical emission spectroscopy was used to study a gas mixture glow discharge of CO2 and N2 at a total pressure of 1.2 Torr, a power of 100 W and a flow of 16.5 L/min. The emission bands were measured in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 900 nm. The principal species observed were O2^＋（A^2П→ X^2П）, CO^＋（A^2П→X^2∑）, N2^＋（B^2∑u＋ → X^2∑g^＋）, CO2^＋（A^2∏ → X^2∏）, N2（C^3∏u → B^3∏g）, O2（b^1∑g^＋→ X^3∑g^-）, and CO （a^r3∑→a^3∏）. The behavior of the band intensities as a function of the N2 percentage is consistent with recent Monte Carlo simulations. The electron temperature and ion density were determined by a double Langmuir probe. The electron temperature was found in the range of 1.55 eV to 2.93 eV, and the electron concentration in the order of 10^10 cm^-3. The electron temperature and ion density at pure N2 and pure CO2 agree with previous measurements.

Regulation of floral senescence in Arabidopsis by coordinated action of CONSTANS and jasmonate signaling

In Arabidopsis,photoperiodic flowering is controlled by the regulatory hub gene CONSTANS(CO),whereas floral organ senescence is regulated by the jasmonates(JAs).Because these processes are chronologically ordered,it remains unknown whether there are common regulators of both *** this study,we discovered that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers after floral induction,and it displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs different from that in the *** observed that altered CO expression could affect flower senescence and abscission by interfering with JA response,as shown by petal-specific transcriptomic analysis as well as CO overexpression in JA synthesis and signaling *** found that CO has a ZIM(ZINC-fINGER INfLORESCENCE MERISTEM)like domain that mediates its interaction with the JA response repressor JAZ3(jasmonate ZIM-domain 3).Their interaction inhibits the repressor activity of JAZ3,resulting in activation of downstream transcription factors involved in promoting flower ***,we showed that CO,JAZ3,and the E3 ubiquitin ligase COI1(Coronatine Insensitive 1)could form a protein complex in planta,which promotes the degradation of both CO and JAZ3 in the presence of *** together,our results indicate that CO,a key regulator of photoperiodic flowering,is also involved in promoting flower senescence and abscission by augmenting JA signaling and *** propose that coordinated recruitment of photoperiodic and JA signaling pathways could be an efficient way for plants to chronologically order floral processes and ensure the success of offspring production.

Effects of Silicon Nanoparticles on the Transient Liquid Phase Bonding of 304 Stainless Steel

Transient liquid phase （TLP） bonding of 304 stainless steel with nickel based filler metal, BNi-9, was performed to study the influence of silicon nanoparticles （NPs） on the mechanical and structural properties of the bonding area. It was found that silicon NPs act as a melting point depressant in the brazing process; the formation of silicon TLP induces the dissolution of elements of the metal filler and promotes a uniform distribution in the bonding area. Silicon NPs induce the development of smaller eutectic structures in the melting zone; it has been related to microhardness measurements, which are lower when the silicon NPs are used in the brazing process.

A detailed vibrational Raman-lR spectroscopic and diffractional analyses have been performed on basalts from two locations from Tenerife Island：（1） the Arenas Negras volcano which belongs to the historical eruption not showing visible alteration and （2） Pillow Lavas zone from Anaga Massif which shows a clearly fluid-rock interaction caused by submarine alteration. These places have been extensively studied due to its similarity with the surface of Mars. The analysis is based on the mineral detection of selected samples by a Micro-Raman study of the materials. The complementary techniques have confirmed the mineralogy detected by the Raman measurement. The results show a volcanic environment behavior with primary phases like olivine, pyroxene, and feldsparJplagioclase. Moreover, the presence of accessory minerals or secondary mineralization like phosphate, iron oxides, zeolite or carbonates shows the alteration processes on each outcrop. The variation in the crystallinity and amorphous phases is related to fluid-rock interaction caused by hydrothermal episodes and external weathering processes, which shows several analogies with the ancient volcanic activity from Mars.

Hlder Norm Estimate for a Hilbert Transform in Hermitean Clifford Analysis

A Hilbert transform for H61der continuous circulant （2 × 2） matrix functions, on the d- summable （or fractal） boundary f of a Jordan domain Ω in R2n, has recently been introduced within the framework of Hermitean Clifford analysis. The main goal of the present paper is to estimate the HSlder norm of this Hermitean Hilbert transform. The expression for the upper bound of this norm is given in terms of the HSlder exponents, the diameter of f and a specific d-sum （d 〉 d） of the Whitney decomposition of Ω. The result is shown to include the case of a more standard Hilbert transform for domains with left Ahlfors-David regular boundary.
