Tungsten bronze structure ceramics have found vital potential in many applications such as actuators, transducer, electro-optic, ferroelectric random access memory and microwave devices. These type ceramics are extensively used in many industrial applications due to their spontaneous polarization and well-known for its high dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, low leakage current density, good thermal stability and high piezoelectric coefficient. In present work, Ba5CaTi2Nb8O30 (BCTN) has been synthesized first time through solid state reaction method. The microstructures, dielectric, ferroelectric, ferromagnetic and Raman spectra have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), LCR meter, P-E loop tracer, VSM and Raman spectrometer respectively. X-ray dif-fraction study revealed the formation of single phase tetragonal structure with space group P4bm. The crystallite size was observed to be in the range 14.4 nm. Detailed dielectric properties of BCTN compound as function of temperature at different frequencies show that sample exhibits diffuse type transition at curie temperature 316°C. The P-E and M-H studies confirmed the coexistent ferroelectricity and magnetism at room temperature.

BACKGROUND Atheroembolic renal disease (AERD) is caused by occlusion of the small renal arteries from embolized cholesterol crystals arising from ulcerated atherosclerotic plaques. This usually manifests as isolated renal disease or involvement from systemic atheroembolic disease. Here we report a case of AERD that responded well to steroid therapy. CASE SUMMARY A 62-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and stage IIIa chronic kidney disease was referred for rapidly worsening renal function over a 4-mo period. She complained of swollen legs, dyspnea on exertion, and two episodes of epistaxis about a month prior to admission. She reported no history of invasive vascular procedures, use of radio contrast agents, or treatment with anticoagulants or thrombolytic agents. Urinalysis showed a few red blood cells and granular casts. Serology was positive for cytoplasmic antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (c-ANCA). Non-contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis showed diffuse atherosclerotic changes in the aortic arch. Thus, c-ANCA-associated vasculitis was suspected, and the patient was started on pulse intravenous methylprednisolone. Her renal biopsy showed evidence of AERD. She was discharged with oral prednisone, and her renal function continued to improve during the initial follow-up. CONCLUSION In cases of non-vasculitis-associated ANCA, a high degree of clinical suspicion is required to pursue the diagnosis of spontaneous AERD in patients with clinical or radiological evidence of atherosclerotic burden. Although no specific treatment is available, the potential role of statins and steroids requires exploration.

The binding pursuits of trans-resveratrol(t-RSV),an amazing health supplement are investigated with an antioxidant enzyme,superoxide dismutase(SOD1).The aim of the study is to dock t-RSV on the adrenaline binding site on SOD1 in order to explore its potential to act as a safety net against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS),a fatal neurodegenerative disorder that affects motor *** silico GLIDE docking methodology and in vitro microcalorimetry technique is utilized for the investigation of binding parameters of t-RSV with *** study provides useful and distinct information about the amino acids involved in the interactions at molecular level along with the nature of forces involved in binding of t-RSV with *** docking analysis using the scoring functions of Schrodinger’s Glide package depicts that GLU100,PRO28,LYS23,TRP32 residues of the peptide backbone on SOD1 interact with phenolic groups of *** information on thermodynamic parameters,*** constant(Kb),free energy(△G)and enthalpy(△H)generated through calorimetric titrations suggests that the reaction between t-RSV and SOD1 is spontaneous and *** the studies are found to be in close agreement with each other based as far as the magnitude of binding constant(Kb=9.9×10^4)is concerned.

The elastic properties of glasses along Diopside (CaMgSi2O6)-Jadeite (NaAlSi2O6) join (Dix - Jd1-x where x=20, 40, 60, 80, 100 mole %), were obtained by the ultrasonic echography technique, at room temperature. The correlation of elastic moduli with the atomic packing density of these glasses was discussed. The derived experimental values of Young’s modulus, bulk modulus, shear modulus and Poisson’s ratio for investigated glasses were compared with those theoretically calculated values in terms of the Makishima–Mackenzie model and the modified model presented by Rocherulle.

Objective:To describe the prevalence,trends,correlates,and short-term outcomes of inpa-tient hospitalizations for firearm-related injuries(FRIs)in the United States between 1998 and ***:We conducted a retrospective,cross-sectional analysis of inpatient hospitalizations using data from the Nationwide Inpatient *** addition to generating national prevalence estimates,we used survey logistic regression to calculate odds ratios(ORs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for the association between FRIs and patient/hospital-level ***-ral trends were estimated and characterized using joinpoint ***:There were 10.5 FRIs(95%CI:9.2-11.8)per 10,000 non-maternal/neonatal inpatient hospitalizations,with assault accounting for 60.1%of FRIs,followed by unintentional/accidental(23.0%)and intentional/self-inflicted FRIs(8.2%).The highest odds of FRIs,particularly FRIs associated with an assault,was observed among patients 18-24 years of age,patients 14-17 years of age,patients with no insurance/self-pay,and non-Hispanic *** mean inpatient length of stay for FRIs was 6.9 days;however,4.7%of patients remained in the hospital over 24 days and 1 in 12 patients(8.2%)died before *** mean cost of an inpatient hospitalization for a FRI was$22,149,which was estimated to be$679 million annually;approximately two-thirds of the annual cost(64.7%)was for assault($439 million).Conclusion:FRIs are a preventable public health issue which disproportionately impacts younger generations,while imposing significant economic and societal burdens,even in the ab-sence of *** of FRIs should be considered a priority in this era of healthcare cost containment.

Epidemiologic pattern of paediatric supracondylar fractures of humerus in a teaching hospital of rural India： A prospective study of 263 cases

Purpose： This prospective study aimed to investigate the epidemiologic parameters of supracondylar humeral fractures in children admitted to a teaching institution of a developing country primarily catering to rural population, to find any preventable cause of such injuries. Methods： All suspected cases of supracondylar humeral fracture reporting to emergency or outpatients department were analysed for various epidemiologic parameters including age, sex, laterality, time of presentation, associated injuries, neurovascular complications and classification over a period of four years. Results： We analysed a total of 263 patients and most of the fractures were seen in 5-8-year age group with a mean of 7.9 years. A total of 157 cases were males and non-dominant extremity was involved in 65% of fractures in our series. Fall on outstretched hand was the predominant cause of injury and fall from rooftop was the predominant mode. In all patients, 36.12% reported to our hospital 1 week after injury, 39.92% presented to hospital within 48 h after trauma and the remaining 23.95% presented 48 h to 1 week after trauma. None had a bilateral injury. Gartland type 3 fractures constituted 54.37% of patients, followed by type 1 （23.95%） and type 2 （21.67%）. Conclusion： Almost one fourth of supracondylar humeral fractures in children can be prevented by installing railing of rooftops and stairs. It is necessary to educate people on hazards of treatment by traditional bonesetters. Moreover, the children with supracondylar humeral fractures should be screened for associated injuries.

The growing diffusion of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a consequence of the worldwide increase in the prevalence of *** stress is widely recognized to play a pivotal role in NAFLD evolution to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).Here we review recent evidence suggesting that oxidative stress-derived antigens originating within fatty livers stimulate both humoral and cellular adaptive immune responses and the possible mechanisms involved in sustaining hepatic inflammation in NASH.

Recognizing the composition and modulation of the microbiome, a viable therapeutic tool for multi-targeted therapy is a new strategy that has recently been explored. Glucosamine (GS) is being studied for its prebiotic potential in addition to being the most abundant and naturally occurring amino monosaccharide. The current study focuses on glucosamine’s prebiotic potential by assessing the stability of various GS concentrations (1% - 5%) in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and its ability to be fermented by the gut microbiota. The results showed that GS stimulated the most growth in L. acidophilus even after a longer incubation time than B. bifidum and L. acidophilus growth was concentration-dependent, with maximum growth at 3% with a simultaneous decrease in pH (5.6 - 1.7). The decrease in GS concentration with time also represented the growth of bacterial species, demonstrating the species’ utilization of GS. Furthermore, at 3%, GS also represented the prebiotic index of 1.9. In addition, the concentration of GS in various simulated GIT fluids was estimated in both fast and fed conditions to examine GS stability at various levels in the gut. The results showed that GS remained unaffected and non-digestible in all of the simulated GIT fluids (salivary, gastric, intestinal, and colonic), but there was a slight decrease in GS concentration (2.8%) in the fasted state of gastric fluid due to low pH levels (1.6). As a result, the findings are conclusive and suggest that GS possesses prebiotic properties.
