In a recent article published in Nature,James A.Cornwell et al.describe that cyclin A2 levels determine whether cells will make an entrance into mitosis or whether cells will leave the cell cycle after having passed the G1/restriction(R)-point implicating that the decision is fully reversible(Fig.1).This ground-breaking study could impact future approaches for cancer treatment by targeting the mitotic clock.

Digital innovation is challenging the traditional way of offering financial services to companies;the so-called Fintech phenomenon refers to startups that use the latest technologies to offer innovative financial services.Within the framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB)and the Theory of Reasoned Action(TRA),the primary purpose of this paper is to develop a causal-predictive analysis of the relationship between Subjective Norms,Attitudes,and Perceived Behavioral Control with the Intention to Use and Behavioral Use of the Fintech services by companies.Partial Least Squares Structural Equation modeling methodology was used with data collected from a survey of 300 companies.Our findings support the TRA and TPB models and confirm their robustness in predicting companies’intention and use of Fintech services.Financial technology innovators must understand the processes involved in users’adoption to design sound strategies that increase the viability of their services.Studying the antecedents of behavioral intention to adopt Fintech services can greatly help understand the pace of adoption,allowing these players to attract and retain customers better.This study contributes to the literature by formulating and validating TPB to predict Fintech adoption,and its findings provide useful information for banks and Fintech companies and lead to an improvement in organizational performance management in formulating marketing strategies.

Biobed is a smart bioremediation system used to treat point-source pesticide contamination.Biomixture is the main component of biobeds,and pesticide dissipation is affected by its composition.This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of compost-based(C)versus peat-moss-based(P)biomixtures of biobeds on tested pesticide dissipation.Three concentrations(25,50,and 75 mg/kg)of chlorpyrifos,pendimethalin,and thiophanate methyl were added separately and as a mix to both biomixtures C and P.Our data showed the effect of biomixture type on the dissipation of the tested pesticides.For chlorpyrifos,its dissipation rate in biomixture P was more rapid than that in biomixture C.This result was confirmed by the mineralization kinetic experiment,since 25%of the initial ^(14)C-chlorpyrifos concentration accumulated in the form ^(14)CO_(2) in biomixture P compared to only 14%in biomixture C.In addition,the chlorpyrifos dissipation rate was influenced by the initial concentration when applied individually in biomixture P.In contrast,biomixture C was more effective at pendimethalin dissipation than biomixture P,since>76%of pendimethalin was dissipated in biomixture C versus 67%in biomixture P at the same incubation time.For thiophanate-methyl,the abilities of both biomixtures C and P were similar and less efficient than those of the other tested pesticides.The addition of the three tested pesticides to biomixture C only had a positive effect on both chlorpyrifos and thiophanate-methyl dissipation,while pendimethalin dissipation was similar when applied separately or as a mix.microbial activity was stimulated by the addition of separately or mixed pesticides to biomixtures C and P as measured by dehydrogenase activity.

Fully resolved numerical simulations of a micron-sized spherical particle residing on a surface with large-scale roughness are performed by using the Lattice-Boltzmann method.The aim is to investigate the influence of surface roughness on the detachment of fine drug particles from larger carrier particles for transporting fine drug particles in a DPI(dry powder inhaler).Often the carrier surface is modified by mechanical treatments for modifying the surface roughness in order to reduce the adhesion force of drug particles.Therefore,drug particle removal from the carrier surface is equivalent to the detachment of a sphere from a rough plane surface.Here a sphere with a diameter of 5μm at a particle Reynolds number of 1.0,3.5 and 10 are considered.The surface roughness is described as regularly spaced semi-cylindrical asperities(with the axes oriented normal to the flow direction)on a smooth surface.The influence of asperity distance and size ratio(i.***.the radius of the semi-cylinder to the particle radius,Rc/Rd)on particle adhesion and detachment are studied.The asperity distance is varied in the range 1.2mi-cylinder radius between 0.5main size are appropriately selected based on numerical studies,and a parametric analysis is performed to investigate the relationship between the contact distance(i.***.half the distance between the particle contact points on two neighbouring semi-cylinders),the asperity distance,the size ratio,and the height of the particle centroid from the plane wall.The drag,lift and torque acting on the spherical particle are measured for different particle Reynolds numbers,asperity distances and sizes or diameters.The detachment of particles from rough surfaces can occur through lift-off,sliding and rolling,and the corresponding detachment models are constructed for the case of rough surfaces.These studies will be the basis for developing Lagrangian detachment models that eventually should allow the optimisation of dry powder i

Gene expression analyses suggest that more than 1000–2000 genes are expressed predominantly in mouse and human testes.Although functional analyses of hundreds of these genes have been performed,there are still many testis-enriched genes whose functions remain unexplored.Analyzing gene function using knockout(KO)mice is a powerful tool to discern if the gene of interest is essential for sperm formation,function,and male fertility in vivo.In this study,we generated KO mice for 12 testis-enriched genes,1700057G04Rik,4921539E11Rik,4930558C23Rik,Cby2,Ldhal6b,Rasef,Slc25a2,Slc25a41,Smim8,Smim9,Tmem210,and Tomm20l,using the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein 9(CRISPR/Cas9)system.We designed two gRNAs for each gene to excise almost all the protein-coding regions to ensure that the deletions in these genes result in a null mutation.mating tests of KO mice reveal that these 12 genes are not essential for male fertility,at least when individually ablated,and not together with other potentially compensatory paralogous genes.Our results could prevent other laboratories from expending duplicative effort generating KO mice,for which no apparent phenotype exists.

We report on an experiment performed at the FLASH2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric heating.In the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution model.We find that most emitted ions are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped electrons.The morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying temperatures.We find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.

Tocopherol sources in diets are often a combination of all-rac-a-tocopheryl acetate(synthetic a-tocopherol)from vitamin supplements and natural tocopherols and 2R-(4’R,8’R)-5,7,8-trimethyltocotrienol(a-tocotrienols)from the feed sources.Synthetic a-tocopherol consists of 8 different stereoisomers including 2R-(4’R,8’R)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(RRR-a-tocopherol),2R-(4’S,8’R)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(RSR-a-tocopherol),2R-(4’R,8’S)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(RRS-a-tocopherol),2R-(4’S,8’S)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(RSS-a-tocopherol),2S-(4’S,8’S)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(SSS-a-tocopherol),2S-(4’R,8’S)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(SRS-a-tocopherol),2S-(4’S,8’R)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(SSR-a-tocopherol),and2S-(4’R,8’R)-5,7,8-trimethyltocol(SRR-a-tocopherol).The pre-absorption metabolism of tocopherols and tocotrienols in ruminants differs from monogastric animals due to the extensive microbial fermentation in the anaerobic rumen.The current study investigated the impact of toasting and decortication of oats on metabolism in the digestive tract(synthesis,digestion),and intestinal digestibility of tocopherols in dairy cows by using 4 ruminal and intestinal cannulated Danish Holstein cows in a 4×4 Latin square design for 4 periods.Cows were fed a total mixed ration ad libitum containing different forms of oats:whole oat,decorticated oat,toasted oat,and decorticated toasted oat,all rolled before mixed ration.Overall means across 4 treatments were statistically analyzed,testing whether overall means were different from zero.Decortication or toasting did not affect the balance or digestibility of a-tocopherols in rumen.Average across treatments showed the ruminal degradation of synthetic a-tocopherol(279 mg/d,P=0.02;P-value shows that average across treatments is different from zero),synthetic 2R-a-tocopherol(133 mg/d,Pmmation of RRS-,RSR-and RSS-a-tocopherol),and 2S-a-tocopherol(190 mg/d;Pmmation of SSS-,SRS-,SSR,and SRR-a-tocopherol),while RRR-a-tocopherol was formed in the rumen(221 mg/d,P=0.10).The average across treatments showed that sma

materials’microstructures are signatures of their alloying composition and processing history.Automated,quantitative analyses of microstructural constituents were lately accomplished through deep learning approaches.However,their shortcomings are poor data efficiency and domain generalizability across data sets,inherently conflicting the expenses associated with annotating data through experts,and extensive materials diversity.To tackle both,we propose to apply a sub-class of transfer learning methods called unsupervised domain adaptation(UDA).UDA addresses the task of finding domain-invariant features when supplied with annotated source data and unannotated target data,such that performance on the latter is optimized.Exemplarily,this study is conducted on a lath-shaped bainite segmentation task in complex phase steel micrographs.Domains to bridge are selected to be different metallographic specimen preparations and distinct imaging modalities.We show that a state-of-the-art UDA approach substantially fosters the transfer between the investigated domains,underlining this technique’s potential to cope with materials variance.

Owing to the excellent stability,biocompatibility and photoluminescence property,graphene quantum dots(GQDs)are emerging as a kind of potential materials to be applied in a series of fields ranging from sensor to drug delivery.As the growing concern for human and environmental safety,selective detection of metal ions has been paid more and more attention.GQDs,as nanoparticles with superior optical properties,have been attracting growing attention in the field of metal ions detection.In this work,glutathione(GSH)functionalized boron doped graphene quantum dots(B-GQDs@GSH)were successfully synthesized with stable bright blue fluorescence and has been used for the detection of Fe^(3+).A good linear relationship between 1/(F_(0)-F)and 1/c with the concentration ranging from 0.70 to 53μmol/L was obtained with a detection limit of 5.5 nmol/L.The application of B-GQDs@GSH for Fe^(3+)detection in water samples was demonstrated and the quenching mechanism was further explored.Due to low cytotoxicity and favorable biocompatibility,B-GQDs@GSH were successfully applied for cell fluorescence imaging and intracellular determination of Fe^(3+).
