Natural fibers have been extensively researched as reinforcement materials in polymers on account of their environmental and economic advantages in comparison with synthetic fibers in the recent *** fibers are renowned for their good mechanical properties,abundance,and short cycle *** beams are one of the fundamental structural components and are susceptible to mechanical loads in engineering applications,this paper performs a study on the free vibration and buckling responses of bamboo fiber reinforced composite(BFRC)beams on the elastic *** different functionally graded(FG)layouts and a uniform one are the considered distributions for unidirectional long bamboo fibers across the *** elastic properties of the composite are determined with the law of *** h.m.lton’s principle,the governing equations of motion are *** generalized differential quadrature method(GDQm)is then applied to the equations to obtain the *** achieved outcomes exhibit that the natural frequency and buckling load values vary as the fiber volume fractions and distributions,elastic foundation stiffness values,and boundary conditions(BCs)and slenderness ratio of the beam ***,a comparative study is conducted between the derived analysis outcomes for BFRC and h.m.genous polymer beams to examine the effectiveness of bamboo fibers as reinforcement materials,demonstrating the significant enhancements in both vibration and buckling responses,with the exception of natural frequencies for cantilever beams on the Pasternak foundation with the FG-◇fiber ***,the obtained analysis results of BFRC beams are also compared with those for carbon nanotube reinforced composite(CNTRC)beams found in the literature,indicating that the buckling loads and natural frequencies of BFRC beams are lower than those of CNTRC beams.

Acorn production in oak(Quercus spp.)shows considerable inter-annual variation,known as masting,which provides a natural defence against seed predators but a highly-variable supply of acorns for uses such as in commercial tree planting each *** emissions of greenhouse gases have been very widely reported to influence plant growth and seed or fruit size and quantity via the‘fertilisation effect’that leads to enhanced *** examine if acorn production in mature woodland communities will be affected by further increase in CO_(2),the contents of litter traps from a Free Air Carbon Enrichment(FACE)experiment in deciduous woodland in central England were analysed for numbers of flowers and acorns of pedunculate oak(Quercus robur L.)at different stages of development and their predation levels under ambient and elevated CO_(2) ***-annual variation in acorn numbers was considerable and cyclical between 2015 and 2021,with the greatest numbers of mature acorns in 2015,2017 and 2020 but almost none in *** numbers of flowers,enlarged cups,immature acorns,empty acorn cups,and galls in the litter traps also varied amongst years;comparatively high numbers of enlarged cups were recorded in 2018,suggesting *** at this site is a fruit maturation masting species(i.e.,the extent of abortion of pollinated flowers during acorn development affects mature acorn numbers greatly).Raising the atmospheric CO_(2) concentration by 150μL L^(−1),from early 2017,increased the numbers of immature acorns,and all acorn evidence(empty cups+immature acorns+mature acorns)detected in the litter traps compared to ambient controls by 2021,but did not consistently affect the numbers of flowers,enlarged cups,empty cups,or mature *** number of flowers in the elevated CO_(2) plots’litter traps was greater in 2018 than 2017,one year after CO_(2) enrichment began,whereas numbers declined in ambient *** with CO_(2) also increased the number o

Background &Aims: Altered mucosal glycosylation in inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer could affect mucosal bacterial adherence. This study aimed to quantify and characterize mucosa-associated and intramucosal bacteria,particula rly Escherichia coli, in these conditions. methods:mucosa-associated bacteria w ere isolated, after dithiothreitol mucolysis, from biopsy samples obtained at co lonoscopy(Crohn’s disease, n = 14 patients; ulcerative colitis, n = 21;noninfla med controls, n = 24) and at surgical resection (colon cancer, n = 21). Intramuc osal bacteria were grown after gentamicin treatment followed by hypotonic lysis. Results:mucosa-associated and intramucosal bacteria were cultured more commonl y in Crohn’s disease (79%, P = 0.03; and 71%,P han in noninflamed controls (42%and 29%) a nd were commonly cultured from colon cancers (71%and 57%). mucosa-associated E. coli, which accounted for 53%of isolates,were more common in Crohn’s diseas e (6/14; 43%) than in noninflamed controls (4/24, 17%), as also were intramuco sal E. coli: Crohn’s disease, 29%; controls, 9%. E. coli expressed h.m.ggluti nins in 39%of Crohn’s cases and 38%of cancers but only 4%of controls, and th is correlated (P = 0.01) with adherence to the I407 and hT29 cell lines. Invasio n was cell-line dependent. E. coli, including nonadherent isolates, induced int erleukin-8 release from the cell lines. E. coli adhesins showed no blood group specificity, excepting 1 cancer isolate (hm44)with specificity for the Th.m.en- Friedenreich antigen, but they could be blocked by soluble plantain fiber. Concl usions: These studies support a central role for mucosally adherent bacteria in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease and colon cancer. Soluble plant fibers that inhibit their adherence have therapeutic potential.

Ch.m.cal looping combustion has the potential to be an efficient and low-cost technology capable of contributing to the reduction of the atmospheric concentration of CO_(2) in order to reach the 1.5/2°C goal and mitigate climate *** this process,a metal oxide is used as oxygen carrier in a dual fluidized bed to generate clean CO_(2) via combustion of *** commonly,natural ores or synthetic materials are used as oxygen carrier whereas both.m.st meet special requirements for the conversion of solid *** oxygen carriers are characterized by higher reactivity at the expense of higher costs versus the lower-cost natural *** determine the viability of both possibilities,a techno-economic comparison of a synthetic material based on manganese,iron,and copper to the natural ore ilmenite was *** synthetic oxygen carrier was characterized and tested in a pilot plant,where high combustion efficiencies up to 98.4%and carbon capture rates up to 98.5%were *** techno-economic assessment resulted in CO_(2) capture costs of 75 and 40€/tCO_(2) for the synthetic and natural ore route respectively,whereas a sensitivity analysis showed the high impact of production costs and attrition rates of the synthetic *** synthetic oxygen carrier could break even with the natural ore in case of lower production costs and attrition rates,which could be reached by adapting the production process and recycling *** comparison to state-of-the-art technologies,it is demonstrated that both routes are viable and the capture cost of CO_(2) could be reduced by implementing the ch.m.cal looping combustion technology.

herein,we report the synthesis of a Dy-Gd co-doped cubic phase-stabilized Bi2O3solid electrolyte system via solid-state processing under atmospheric *** with Dy3+and Gd3+has been observed to significantly enhance the densification process during sintering for stabilization purposes,thereby improving the electrical properties of δ-Bi2O3-type *** synthesized ceramics were characterized using X-ray diffraction（XRD）,field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（FESEm-EDX）,thermal gravimetry/differential thermal analysis（TG/DTA）,and the four-point probe technique（4PPT）.XRD analysis reveals that the samples Bi1-x-yGdxDyyO1.5（y=0.05/x=0.05,0.10,0,15,and 0.20,and x=0.05/y=0.10,0.15,and 0.20） exhibit a stable face-centered cubic δ-phase and a mixed-phase crystallographic *** XRD analysis of the stabilized δ-phase suggests that the prepared oxides show a face-centered cubic（FCC） structure with a space group of *** micrographs reveal that the composition Bi0.90Gd0.05Dy0.05O1.5has no significant ***,an evident increase in the pore formation is observed as the amount of Gd2O3increases until it reaches 20%.This finding suggests that dense pellets are formed during the sintering process at 900-1000℃.The DTA analyses were performed to verify the phase stability,which agrees with the XRD *** electroch.m.cal performance of the synthesized Dy-Gd co-doped Bi2O3solid electrolyte system was evaluated and analyzed in detail by using the electroch.m.cal impedance spectroscopy（EIS） technique,Based on EIS and conductivity measurements,Bi0.75Gd0.20Dy0.05O1.5exhibits the lowest activation energy of 0.519 eV and the highest conductivity value of 0.398 S/cm at 627℃compared to the other samples;this composition can be used as a solid electrolyte for intermediatetemperature solid oxide fuel cells（SOFCs）.

Five perovskite ceramics samples of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the major phase in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm^(-1) ascribed to the antisymmetric O-Sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determine the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancement in the bandgap from 3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized samples were experimentally measured and compared with XCOm computational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experimental and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gamma shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding parameters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) samples can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

Lug joints are preferred joineries for transferring heavy loads to parent components in aerospace *** experience corrosion due to environmental conditions,improper surface finishes and rubbing displacement between the pin and *** causes damage of different sizes and shapes near the *** degradation due to corrosion-induced damage is modelled as a through-pit at one of the identified critical locations through stress *** effect of this pit on fatigue crack initiation life is ***-hole is pre-stressed by cold-working and the benefits of inducing plastic wake on the intended performance of the lug joint during the damages due to corrosion are brought out and compared with non-cold-worked *** analysis is performed on this lug joint with *** results obtained highlight the benefits of cold-working and the methodology can be extended to damage growth and analyse the effect of surface treatments for better structural integrity of components of aerospace vehicles.

This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based model of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wave functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not take such a mismatch into ***,it is demonstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy levels of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(mDA),glutathione(GSh),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pmerase chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymph.m. 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all Phyperthyroid group treated with CBZ alone(Group VI)exhibited testicular side effects,affecting seminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.
