Understanding the Local Carbon Fluxes Variations and Their Relationship to Climate Conditions in a Sub-Humid Savannah-Ecosystem during 2008-2015: Case of Lamto in Cote d’Ivoire

The temporal variations of the Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), the Total Ecosystem Respiration (TER) and the Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE), and their responses to meteorological conditions (e.g. temperature, radiative flux and precipitation) at Lamto, in wet savannah region across C?te d’Ivoire are analyzed using GFED-CASA and daily meteorological data recorded over the 2008-2015 period. The study shows the links between these carbon fluxes and climate variability at Lamto that is subject to high anthropogenic pressures and seasonal bushfires. The correlative statistics from multiple regression methods were used to assess the different relationships and show how they change in time. The results show important seasonal variability in the Gross Primary Productivity and the Total Ecosystem Respiration mainly associated with the changes in temperature and radiative flux. In addition, the statistical analysis suggests a high correlation between meteorological conditions and the GPP and TER. These climatic conditions may explain 83% and 79% of the variances of GPP and TER respectively. Moreover, the interannual variability of the Net Ecosystem Exchange indicates that around Lamto, in the subhumid savannah, the ecosystem behaves as a carbon sink similar to other West African ecosystems. On the other hand, there is no clear link between the NEE and temperature, radiative flux and precipitation. This lack of connection may suggest a limited response of the NEE interannual dynamics related to the changes in climatic features.

Influence of the Granular Class of Crushed Granites on the Litho-Stabilization of Samo Laterites (South-East of Côte d’Ivoire)

Most of the laterites found in Ivory Coast do not meet the technical conditions to be used in their natural state for the design of road foundations. Also, to meet the growing needs for road materials, various amendments are made to them, including litho-stabilization. Thus, this study proposes to understand the influence of the granular class of natural aggregates on the performance of laterites. To achieve this objective, different proportions of crushed granites of class 0/5, 0/15 and 5/15 have been incorporated into the soils of southern Côte d’Ivoire, especially in Samo. This modified soil has been subjected to mechanical tests such as the modified Proctor and CBR test. The results obtained show that the dry densities of the incorporated laterites containing crushed granites increase with the content of natural aggregates and decrease with the increase in the water content. Likewise, the CBR bearing indices at 95% of the Modified Optimum Proctor of the different compositions (laterites + crushed granites) increase with the proportion of aggregates. The addition of coarse aggregates to the laterites therefore promotes the establishment of a framework which improves its bearing capacity. From 20% to 30% crushed granites respectively of class 0/15;0/5 and 5/15, the values of the CBR obtained are greater than those of 30% therefore these modified soils can be used as a foundation layer for traffic of T1, T2 and T3 type. Likewise, the laterites’ mixtures with at least 40% crushed granites of class 0/15 and 0/5 can also be used for the foundation and base layers.

Study of Varietal Influence Post Conservation on Biochemical and Sensory Qualities of Attiékéand Boiled Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz)

Cassava root is shortly preserved after harvesting due to its tanning and rapid physiological decomposition. Consequently, the commercial value is reduced and the craving of its finishes products. With an aim of improving physiological quality, post harvest food value “the effects of bleaching and conservation in silo-pits were evaluated. Four (04) varieties of cassava: Bocou1, Bocou2, Bocou3 and Yavo were collected fresh and healthy in 13 months of maturity. They were subjected to a bleaching (65°C /15 - 30 s) followed by a kinetic conservation (7 days of intervals) in silo-pit (1 × 0.6 × 0.5 m). Results show that Bocou2 variety has the high proteins content (2.64% ± 0.01%), followed by hydrocyanic acid (8.21 ± 0.01 mg/100 g) and total carotenoids (26.7 μg/100 g). The conservation influences positively the protein content, reducing sugars content, the dries matter content and the total phenolic compounds for all the varieties excluded Bocou2 variety whose protein content drops. As regard of the fat contents, a weak increase is observed. The sensory analysis reveals that the boiled cassava of the Yavo variety is more appreciated followed by Bocou1 variety. Concerning the Attiéké, Bocou3 variety gives the more appreciated dish followed by the Yavo variety. In conclusion, the silo-pit conservation after bleaching improves the physiological quality of the cassava and the sensory taste even during 14 days. This study has a huge impact of reducing the post harvests losses and increases the commercial value of cassava in the world.

Higher Order Solitary Wave Solutions of the Standard KdV Equations

Considered under their standard form, the fifth-order KdV equations are a sort of reading table on which new prototypes of higher order solitary waves residing there, have been uncovered and revealed to broad daylight. The mathematical tool that made it possible to explore and analyze this equation is the Bogning-Djeumen Tchaho-Kofané method extended to the new implicit Bogning' functions. The analytical form of the solutions chosen in this manuscript is particular in the sense that it contains within its bosom, a package of solitary waves made up of three solitons, especially, the bright type soliton, the hybrid soliton and the dark type soliton which we estimate capable in their interactions of generating new hybrid or multi-form solitons. Existence conditions of the obtained solitons have been determined. It emerges that, these existence conditions of the chosen ansatz could open the way to other new varieties of fifth-order KdV equations including to which it will be one of the solutions. Some of the obtained solitons are exact solutions. Intense numerical simulations highlighted numerical stability and confirmed the hybrid character of the obtained solutions. These results will help to model new nonlinear wave phenomena, in plasma media and in fluid dynamics, especially, on the shallow water surface.

Evaluation of the Geological and Metallogenic Potential of Koffissiokaha Permit, Area of Katiola, Côte d’Ivoire

The semi-industrial permit of Koffissiokaha, south-eastern area of Katiola, is located in the northern part of Fêtêkro Birimian Greenstone Belt (Côte d’Ivoire). This permit, applicated by the company Blue-Hill Exploration Sarl (BHEX), is in the southern continuity area of Lafigué permit (Endeavour Mining). Blue-Hill will have to work to highlight potential gold mineralization, quantify it (resource calculation) and initiate administrative procedures to obtain a Semi-Industrial Exploitation Authorization (AESI). Our recent works, including field mapping coupled with petrographic and microstructural studies, are therefore intended to contribute to the knowledge of the geology and to the evaluation of the gold potential of this permit. They suggest that Koffissiokaha permit includes four major lithologic units: 1) a sedimentary unit formed by metaarenites and metasiltites, 2) a unit of mafic pyroclastites (cinerites, tuffs and volcanic breccias) 3) a plutonic unit of metagabbro and finally, 4) a lode-type unit made up of metarhyodacites. The metamorphism that affected the volcano-sedimentary rocks is of low grade to greenschist facies. On the structural level, deformations with variable gradients are noted. The major planary structure, the schistosity, is oriented N20 - 40 with weak (°), moderate (50°- 60°) and steep dips (>70°) or subvertical. The faults generally correspond to narrow dextral or senestral shear-zones (75°) towards south-east or subvertical. They are most often intersected by late strike-slip faults-oriented NW-SE, NNW-SSE and N-S. Quartz veins are associated with faults or deformation zones. They are generally oriented N20 to N40, with weak (°), moderate (55°- 65°) and steep dips (>75°). Orientations of joints and fractures are mostly subparallel to the plans of schistosity, shears and most of quartz veins. However, ENE, WNW and N-S fractures are also distinguished. This work proposes the construction of a prototype of pulse-kink hybrid solitary waves with a strong Kink dosage of the Sasa-Satsuma equation which describes the dynamics of the wave propagating in an optical fiber where the stimulated Raman scattering effect is bethinking during modeling. The ultimate goal of this work is to propose a plateful of solutions likely to serve as signals during studies on computer or laboratory propagation studies. The resolution of such an equation is not always the easiest thing, and we used the Bogning-Djeumen Tchaho-Kofané method extended to the implicit functions of Bogning to obtain the results. The flexibility of the iB-functions made it possible to deduce the trigonometric solutions, from the obtained solitary wave solutions with a hyperbolic analytical sequence of the studied Sasa-Satsuma equation. A better appreciation of the nature of the solutions obtained is made through the profiles of some solutions obtained during the different analyses.

Potential Biostimulant Effect of Clam Shells on Growth Promotion of Plantain PIF Seedlings (<i>var</i>. Big Ebanga &Batard) and Relation to Black Sigatoka Disease Susceptibility

Plantain contributes significantly to income generation and food security for millions of people in the world. However, it faces problems of seedlings quantity, quality and availability. The innovation of the “plants issus de fragments de tiges” (PIF) technique could be a solution to these problems for small holders’ farmers. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of clam shells through amendment of Batard and Big Ebanga PIF substrate, on the growth promotion of seedlings and their protection against black Sigatoka disease (BSD). Plantain PIF seedlings of the two varieties were grown in a substrate amended with 1% concentration of the clam shells powder in the presence of negative control in the sterile and non-sterile conditions. Agromorphological characteristics, susceptibility level to BSD, total proteins and polyphenols content were assessed. Because of the presence of clam shells in the substrates, explants germinated quickly, generated high number of shoots, grew taller by 32%, with a diameter of pseudo stems of 30%, and area of leaves of 18% compared to control. In addition, the seedlings were less susceptible to BSD by 73% compared to those of controls. The treatment seems to allow the accumulation of larger amounts of total proteins and polyphenols before inoculation and after inoculation that could participate in the growth promotion and the reduction of plant’s susceptibility level. Clam shells treatment acts as a biofertilizer/biopesticide and could be helpful to boost production of plantain seedlings, the use of the by-products of fishing in agriculture and helps alleviate poverty of small holders’ farmers.

Prognostic Factors for the Occurrence of Blood Exposure Accidents among Health Personnel at the Kaolack Regional Hospital (Senegal)

Caregivers are highly exposed to blood exposure accidents (BEA). The objective of our study is to determine the frequency of BEA and to identify the predictive factors for the occurrence of BEAs among caregivers at the Kaolack Regional Hospital (KRH). It is a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study of KRH’s caregivers. The data were collected during the period from 16 to 26 April 2018. The multivariate analysis was carried out using the binary logistic regression model with a dependent variable (occurrence of blood exposure accidents) and 5 explanatory variables (sex, age, service of belonging, professional category and seniority in the profession). A total of 115 caregivers were surveyed out of 144. It is noted that 68 caregivers (59.1%) have had at least one BEA in the previous 12 months. The age of caregivers significantly reduces the risk of developing a BEA (p = 0.004, CI [0.04 - 0.21]);belonging to the age group [20 - 40 years] increases the risk of a BEA by 6.66. Sex significantly influences the occurrence of BEA with a (p = 0.013, CI [1.47 - 19.4]);men are 5 times more likely to develop BEA. The risk of a BEA occurring varies according to the professional category. Senior health technicians have a significantly 50 times lower risk of occurrence of a BEA (p = 0.007, CI [0.00 - 0.24)]. Nurses and midwives have a 5.8 lower risk of developing BEAs (p = 0.031, CI [0.03 - 0.75]). The risk of occurrence of BEAs varies according to the service of belonging;Medicine service caregivers have a significantly 50-fold lower risk of developing BEAs (p = 0.004, CI [0.00 - 0.17]). The identified risk factors will be used to better guide our BEAs prevention interventions.

＜正＞ GPRC6A is an "orphan". G protein-coupled receptor （related to the calcium sensing receptor） which is activated by basic amino acids. Al（3 + ） and the cal cimimetic NPS-568 （see Pi et al., 2005, J Biol Chem 280:40201-9）. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible presence of GPRC6A in rat mesenteric artery （RMA）. In sharp micro-electrode recordings. L-omithine （0.3 mM） produced an endothelium-dependent hyperpolarisation and potentiated the hyperpolarisation to the calcimimetic calindol （100. 300 nM）. The effects of both L-or-nithine and calindol were abolished by the IKCa channel inhibitor TRAM-34 （0.01 mM）. Similar effects （TRAM-34 sensitive hyperpolarisation and potentia-tion of calindol effect） were produced by Al（3+ ）（0.1 mM）. RT-PCR using mRNA extracted from RMA produced an amplicon of the predicted size, which was sequenced and confirmed as GPRC6A. Furthermore, the protein was also i dentified by Western blot using a selective polyclonal antibody. We conclude that GPRC6A is present in RMA endothelial cells and may play a role in the regulation of vascular tone. Funded by the British Heart Foundation
