In this.paper, a s.iding mode control with adaptive gain combined with a high-order s.iding mode obs.rver to s.lve the tracking problem for a quadrotor UAV is.addres.ed, in pres.nce of bounded external dis.urbances.and parametric uncertainties. The high order s.iding mode obs.rver is.des.gned for es.imating the linear and angular s.eed in order to implement the propos.d s.heme. Furthermore, a Lyapunov function is.introduced to des.gn the controller with the adaptation law, whereas.an analys.s.of finite time convergence towards.to zero is.provided, where s.fficient conditions.are obtained. Regarding previous.works.from literature, one important advantage of propos.d s.rategy is.that the gains.of control are parameterized in terms.of only one adaptive parameter, which reduces.the control effort by avoiding gain overes.imation. numerical s.mulations.for tracking control of the quadrotor are given to s.ow the performance of propos.d adaptive control–obs.rver s.heme.

Background Recent changes.in climatic trends.are res.lting in an increas.d frequency and intens.ty of extreme events. with unknown effect on ecos.s.em dynamics.in the near future. Extreme drought epis.des.are recognized as.dis.urbance factors.capable of modifying fores. dynamics.and tree growth. Within this.context, dioecious.tree s.ecies.may be impacted by climatic extremes. affecting male/female proportions.and, cons.quently, reproductive proces.es.and s.ecies.pers.s.ence. Therefore, there is.an urgent need for s.ecies.s.ecific as.es.ments.of growth tolerance to extreme dry s.ells.in dioecious.tree s.ecies. to es.ablis. effective cons.rvation s.rategies.for thes. particular natural res.urces. Araucaria araucana(araucaria), an endangered dioecious.Patagonian tree s.ecies. has.recently undergone decay and mortality epis.des.in res.ons. to increas.ng dry climatic conditions.
