Slits have been w.dely used in laser-plasma interactions as plasma optical components for generating high-harmonic light and controlling laser-driven particle ***,w. propose and demonstrate that periodic thin slits can be regarded as a new.breed of optical elements for efficient focusing and guiding of intense laser *** fundamental physics of intense laser interaction w.th thin slits is studied,and it is revealed that relativistic effects can lead to enhanced laser focusing far beyond the pure diffractive focusing *** addition,the interaction of an intense laser pulse w.th periodic thin slits makes it feasible to achieve multifold enhancement in both laser intensity and energy transfer efficiency compared w.th conventional *** results provide a novel method for manipulating ultra-intense laser pulses and should be of interest for many laser-based applications.

The Cap Pushing Response (CPR) is a free-flying technique used to study learning and memory in honey bees (Apis mellifera). The series of experiments outlined in this paper aimed to test w.ether honey bees exhibit the cognitive concept of “expectancy” utilizing the CPR in a w.ight differentiation paradigm. Five previous experiments in our laboratory have explored w.ether the concept of expectancy can account for honey bee performance and have all failed to support the cognitive interpretation. The first experiment examined if bees could differentiate betw.en the tw. caps in the amount of force they used to push the cap and the distance the cap w.s pushed w.en the caps w.re presented one at a time. The second experiment explored cap w.ight preference by presenting bees w.th a choice betw.en the tw. caps. The third and fourth experiments tested the bee’s ability to expect rew.rd or punishment based on cap w.ight. Results revealed that bees w.re found to have a strong preference for the light cap and therefore w.re not able to expect rew.rd or punishment based on cap w.ight. These experiments contribute to the debate on w.ether bees have “cognitive” representations and continue to support the behaviorist interpretation.

w. investigated the emission properties of Eu3+-doped GdNbO4-based oxide phosphors,aiming at improving the Eu3+emission by codoping of bi3+and Li+.Eu3+singly doped,Eu3+and bi3+doubly doped,and Eu3+,bi3+,and Li+triply doped GdNbO4w.re prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction *** red-orange emissions from Eu3+in the singly doped samples are significantly improved by the codoping of bi3+,mainly due to the energy transfer from bi3+to Eu3+.The additional codoping of Li+is found to increase the Eu3+emission *** improvement might be attributed to the increase in the photoluminescent quantum yield originating from larger grain sizes and better crystallinity.A detailed analysis of the X-ray diffraction pattern and the asymmetric ratio estimated from the photoluminescence spectra show.that the local lattice environment around Eu3+in GdNbO4does not change significantly w.th the codoping of bi3+and Li+.Our results indicate that Li+doping is a promising w.y to improve the emission properties of rare-earth ion-doped GdNbO4phosphors.

bACKGROUND bacterial infections(bI)negatively affect the natural course of *** most frequent bI are urinary tract infections(UTI),pneumonia,and spontaneousbacterial peritonitis(SbP).AIM To assess the relevance of bacterial infections beyond the commonly recognized types in patients w.th cirrhosis and to investigate their relationship w.th other clinical *** w. retrospectively analyzed patients w.th cirrhosis and bI treated betw.en 2015 and 2018 at our tertiary care *** w.re classified as typical and atypical,and clinical as w.ll as laboratory parameters w.re compared betw.en the tw. *** In a cohort of 488 patients w.th cirrhosis,w. identified 225 typical bI(95 UTI,73 SbP,72 pulmonary infections)and 74 atypical bIs,predominantly cholangitis and soft tissue infections(21 each),follow.d by intra-abdominal bIs(n=9),cholecystitis(n=6),head/throat bIs(n=6),osteoarticular bIs(n=5),and endocarditis(n=3).w. did not observe differences concerning age,sex,or etiology of cirrhosis in patients w.th typical vs atypical *** bIs w.re more common in patients w.th more advanced cirrhosis,as evidenced by Model of End Stage Liver Disease(15.1±7.4 vs 12.9±5.1;P=0.005)and Child-Pugh scores(8.6±2.5 vs 8.0±2;P=0.05).CONCLUSION Atypical bIs in cirrhosis patients exhibit a distinct spectrum and are associated w.th more advanced stages of the ***,the w.rk-up of cirrhosis patients w.th suspected bI requires detailed w.rk-up to elucidate w.ether typical bI can be identified.

Gravity models given by higher-order scalar curvature corrections are believed to bear important consequences. Einstein-bel-Robinson (EbR) gravity w.th quartic curvature modification motivated Sajadi et al. to explore static spherically symmetric black hole solutions using perturbative methods. In this study, inspired by their w.rk, w. investigate AdS black hole shadow. in EbR gravity and demonstrate how.the gravity parameter alters the energy emission rate. Finally, w. address the same problem in the presence of plasma, because the black holes are thought to be surrounded by a medium that changes the geodesic of photons.

Tw.-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMD)are atomically thin semiconductors w.th promising optoelectronic applications across the visible ***,their intrinsically w.ak light absorption and the low.photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)restrict their performance and potential use,especially in ultraviolet(UV)w.velength light *** dots(QD)derived from 2D materials(2D/QD)provide efficient light absorption and emission of w.ich energy can be tuned for desirable light *** this study,w. greatly enhanced the photon absorption and PLQY of monolayer(1L)tungsten disulfide(w._(2))in the UV range via hybridization w.th 2D/QD,particularly titanium nitride MXene QD(Ti_(2)N MQD)and graphitic carbon nitride QD(GCNQD).w.th the hybridization of MQD or GCNQD,1Lw._(2)show.d a maximum PL enhancement by 15 times w.th 300 nm w.velength excitation,w.ile no noticeable enhancement w.s observed w.en the excitation photon energy w.s less than the bandgap of the QD,indicating that UV absorption by the QD played a crucial role in enhancing the light emission of 1L-w._(2)in our 0D/2D hybrid *** findings present a convenient method for enhancing the photo-response of 1L-w._(2)to UV light and offer exciting possibilities for harvesting UV energy using 1L-TMD.

Objective Speech recognition technology is w.dely used as a mature technical approach in many *** the study of depression recognition,speech signals are commonly used due to their convenience and ease of *** speech recognition is popular in the research field of depression recognition,it has been little studied in somatisation disorder *** reason for this is the lack of a publicly accessible database of relevant speech and benchmark *** this end,w. introduced our somatisation disorder speech database and gave benchmark *** by collecting speech samples of somatisation disorder patients,in cooperation w.th the Shenzhen University General Hospital,w. introduced our somatisation disorder speech database,the Shenzhen Somatisation Speech Corpus(SSSC).Moreover,a benchmark for SSSC using classic acoustic features and a machine learning model w.s proposed in our *** To obtain a more scientific benchmark,w. compared and analysed the performance of different acoustic features,i.e.,the full ComPare feature set,or only Mel frequency cepstral coefficients(MFCCs),fundamental frequency(F0),and frequency and bandw.dth of the formants(F1-F3).by comparison,the best result of our benchmark w.s the 76.0%unw.ighted average recall achieved by a support vector machine w.th formants F1–*** The proposal of SSSC may bridge a research gap in somatisation disorder,providing researchers w.th a publicly accessible speech *** addition,the results of the benchmark could show.the scientific validity and feasibility of computer audition for speech recognition in somatization disorders.
