AIM:To evaluate impact of radiation therapy dose escalation through intensity modulated radiation therapy with simultaneous integrated boost(IMRT-SIB).METHODS:We retrospectively reviewed the patients who underwent four-dimensional-based IMRT-SIBbased neoadjuvant chemoradiation *** the concurrent chemoradiation therapy,radiation therapy was through IMRT-SIB delivered in 28 consecutive daily fractions with total radiation doses of 56 Gy to tumor and 5040 Gy dose-painted to clinical tumor volume,with a regimen at the discretion of the treating medical *** was followed by surgical tumor *** analyzed pathological completion response(p CR) rates its relationship with overall survival and ***:Seventeen patients underwent dose escalation with the IMRT-SIB protocol between 2007 and 2014 and their records were available for *** the IMRT-SIB-treated patients,the toxicity appeared mild,the most common side effects were grade 1-3 esophagitis(46%) and pneumonitis(11.7%).There were no cardiac *** Ro resection rate was 94%(n = 16),the p CR rate was 47%(n = 8),and the postoperative morbidity was *** was one mediastinal failure found,one patient had local failure at the anastomosis site,and the majority of failures were distant in the lung or *** 3-year diseasefree survival and overall survival rates were 41%(n = 7) and 53%(n = 9),***:The dose escalation through IMRT-SIB in the chemoradiation regimen seems responsible for down-staging the distal esophageal with well-tolerated complications.

Various Drosophila models of human disease have recently received increased interest. The main goal is to uncover the fundamental biological basis for human pathology taking advantage of the power of Drosophila genetics. This review examines a set of Drosophila seizure-sensitive mutations that model human seizure disorders, especially epilepsy. Also described is a novel set of mutations that act as seizure-suppressors that ameliorate epilepsy phenotypes in double mutant combinations.

Following votes by the Pliensbachian Working Group, the Jurassic Subcommission and the International Commission on Stratigraphy, lUGS ratified the proposed Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point （GSSP） for the base of the Pliensbachian Stage （Lower Jurassic） at the base of bed 73b in the Wine Haven section, Robin Hood＇s Bay, Yorkshire Coast, UK. This level contains the characteristic ammonite association Bifericeras donovani Dommergues and Meister and Apoderoceras sp. Complementary data include： a） Strontium-isotope stratigraphy, based on analysis of belemnites which yield a calcite 87Sr/^86Sr ratio for the boundary level of 0. 707425 and data supporting interpretation of continuous sedimentation; b） Belemnite oxygen-isotope data indicate a significant temperature drop （-5 ℃） across the boundary at this locality; c） A Transgressive Systems Tract （TST） initiated in the Aplanaturn Subzone （uppermost Sinemurian） continues into the Lowermost Pliensbachian （Taylori Subzone）; it forms part of a transgressive facies cycle sensu Graciansky et al. （1998）; d） The Upper Sinemurian to lowermost Plensbachian at Wine Haven section has a predominantly norreal magnetic polarity, but two discrete reversed polarity magnetozones are present. The first spans much of the latest Sinemurian Aplanatum Subzone. It terminates 〈0.5m below the Sinemurian-Pliensbachian boundary and may prove a valuable chronostratigraphic marker The second extends from the latest Oxynotum Subzone probably through to the lower part of the Raricostatum Subzone.

A review of refinery complexity applications

Achieving China’s goal of reducing its carbon intensity(CO2 per unit of GDP) by 40% to 45% percent below 2005 levels by 2020 will require the strengthening and expansion of energy efficiency policies across the buildings,industries and transport *** study uses a bottom-up,end-use model and two scenarios——anenhancedenergy efficiency(E3) scenario and an alternative maximum technically feasible energy efficiency improvement(Max Tech) scenario-to evaluate what policies and technical improvements are needed to achieve the 2020 carbon intensity reduction *** findings from this study show that a determined approach by China can lead to the achievement of its 2020 *** particular,with full success in deepening its energy efficiency policies and programs but following the same general approach used during the 11th Five Year Plan,it is possible to achieve 49% reduction in CO2 emissions per unit of GDP(CO2 emissions intensity) in 2020 from 2005 levels(E3 case).Under the more optimistic but feasible assumptions of development and penetration of advanced energy efficiency technology(Max Tech case),China could achieve a 56% reduction in CO2 emissions intensity in 2020 relative to 2005 with cumulative reduction of energy use by 2700 Mtce and of CO2 emissions of 8107 Mt CO2 between 2010 and *** savings and CO2 mitigation potential varies by sector but most of the energy savings potential is found in energy-intensive *** the same time,electricity savings and the associated emissions reduction are magnified by increasing renewable generation and improving coal generation efficiency,underscoring the dual importance of end-use efficiency improvements and power sector decarbonization.

Refinery complexity quantifies the sophistication and capital intensity of a refinery and has found widespread application in facility classification, cost estimation, sales price models, and other uses. Despite the ubiquity and widespread use of refining complexity, however, surprisingly little material has been written on its applications. The pur- pose of this review is to describe the primary applications of refinery complexity and some recent extensions. A secondary purpose of this review is to provide a framework that unifies complexity applications and suggests avenues for future research. Examples illustrate the applications considered.

History has shown that occurrences of extreme weather are becoming more frequent and with greater impact,regardless of one's geographical *** a risk analysis setting,what will happen,how likely it is to happen,and what are the consequences,are motivating questions searching for *** help address these considerations,this study introduced and applied a hybrid simulation model developed for the purpose of improving understanding of the costs of extreme weather events in the form of loss and damage,based on empirical data in the contiguous United *** results are encouraging,showing on average a mean cost estimate within 5%of the historical *** creates opportunities to improve the accuracy in estimating the expected costs of such events for a specific event type and geographic *** turn,by having a more credible price point in determining the cost-effectiveness of various infrastructure adaptation strategies,it can help in making the business case for resilience investment.

In July 2005, the Chinese Government unpegged the RMB from the US dollar. As the RMB has followed a remarkably predictable appreciation over time, I examine the price of Chinese exports to the USA after unpegging the exchange rate. Results suggest that the Chinese industries with greater import market share were able to raise their prices after the removal of the pegged exchange rate regime; however, over time there is a significant deflationary trend. Chinese export prices tended to decrease under an unanticipated RMB appreciation; this effect was more pronounced for industries with more pricing flexibility. This suggests that Chinese exporters are consistently ＂pricing to market＂ and thus creating a significant foreign exchange policy implication. Specifically, a more flexible exchange rate regime will likely have little impact on the prices of Chinese exports to the USA but might increase the profit volatility of Chinese firms.
