Glyphosate-Resistant Giant Ragweed(Ambrosia trifida L.):2,4-d dose Response and Control with Postemergence Herbicides in Soybean

Glyphosate resistant giant ragweed is an increasing problem in glyphosate resistant cropping systems in southwestern Ontario. The postemergence herbicides registered for use in soybean in Ontario do not provide consistent control of glyphosate resistant giant ragweed. There is limited research on the lowest effective rate of 2,4-d for the control of glyphosate resistant giant ragweed. Consequently, the objectives of this study were a) to determine the efficacy of herbicides applied postemergence for the control of glyphosate resistant giant ragweed in glyphosate resistant soybean, and b) to determine the lowest effective rate of 2,4-d for the control of glyphosate-resistant giant ragweed. Ten postemergence herbicide combinations and seven rates of 2,4-d were evaluated in field studies conducted in 2011 and 2012 at six locations confirmed with glyphosate-resistant giant ragweed. The post emergence herbicides evaluated did not provide acceptable/consistent control. Of the herbicides evaluated, glyphosate plus cloransulam-methyl provided 26% to 70% control 8 WAA of glyphosate resistant giant ragweed, which was the best of the herbicides combinations evaluated. The doses of 2,4-d required to reduce giant ragweed shoot dry weight by 50, 80 and 95% were 142, 310 and 1048 g a.e. ha-1, respectively.

We report a significantly-enhanced bioinformatics suite and database for proteomics research called Yale Protein Expression database（YPEd） that is used by investigators at more than 300 institutions worldwide. YPEd meets the data management, archival, and analysis needs of a high-throughput mass spectrometry-based proteomics research ranging from a singlelaboratory, group of laboratories within and beyond an institution, to the entire proteomics community. The current version is a significant improvement over the first version in that it contains new modules for liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry（LC–MS/MS） database search results, label and label-free quantitative proteomic analysis, and several scoring outputs for phosphopeptide site localization. In addition, we have added both peptide and protein comparative analysis tools to enable pairwise analysis of distinct peptides/proteins in each sample and of overlapping peptides/proteins between all samples in multiple datasets. We have also implemented a targeted proteomics module for automated multiple reaction monitoring（MRM）/selective reaction monitoring（SRM） assay development. We have linked YPEd＇s database search results and both label-based and label-free fold-change analysis to the Skyline Panorama repository for online spectra visualization. In addition, we have built enhanced functionality to curate peptide identifications into an MS/MS peptide spectral library for all of our protein database search identification results.

The formation of complex hierarchical nanostructures has attracted a lot of attention from both the fundamental science and potential applications point of *** structures with radial fibrillar branches have been found in various solids;however,their growth mechanisms remain poorly ***,we report real time imaging of the formation of two-dimensional(2d)iron oxide spherulite nanostructures in a liquid cell using transmission electron microscopy(TEM).By tracking the growth trajectories,we show the characteristics of the reaction front and growth *** observations reveal that the tip of a growing branch splits as the width exceeds certain sizes(5.5–8.5 nm).The radius of a spherulite nanostructure increases linearly with time at the early stage,transitioning to nonlinear growth at the later ***,a thin layer of solid is accumulated at the tip and nanoparticles from secondary nucleation also appear at the growing front which later develop into fibrillar *** spherulite nanostructure is polycrystalline with the co-existence of ferrihydrite and Fe3O4 through-out the growth.A growth model is further established,which provides rational explanations on the linear growth at the early stage and the nonlinearity at the later stage of growth.

Focused transcription from the human CR2/Cd21 core promoter is regulated by synergistic activity of TATA and Initiator elements in mature B cells

Complement receptor 2 （CR2/Cd21） is predominantly expressed on the surface of mature B cells where it forms part of a coreceptor complex that functions, in part, to modulate B-cell receptor signal strength. CR2/Cd21 expression is tightly regulated throughout B-cell development such that CR2/Cd21 cannot be detected on pre-B or terminally differentiated plasma cells. CR2/Cd21 expression is upregulated at B-cell maturation and can be induced by IL-4 and Cd40 signaling pathways. We have previously characterized elements in the proximal promoter and first intron of CR2/Cd21 that are involved in regulating basal and tissue-specific expression. We now extend these analyses to the CR2/Cd21 core promoter. We show that in mature B cells, CR2/~d21 transcription proceeds from a focused TSS regulated by a non-consensus TATA box, an initiator element and a downstream promoter element. Furthermore, occupancy of the general transcriptional machinery in pre-B versus mature B-cell lines correlate with CR2/Cd21 expression level and indicate that promoter accessibility must switch from inactive to active during the transitional B-cell window.

dNA copy number variations(CNVs) play an important role in the pathogenesis and progression of cancer and confer susceptibility to a variety of human *** this study, we developed an algorithm to detect CNVs from whole-genome sequencing data and applied it to a newly sequenced glioblastoma genome with a matched *** read-depth algorithm,called BIC-seq,can accurately and efficiently identify CNVs via minimizing the Bayesian information criterion(BIC).Using BIC-seq,we identified hundreds of CNVs as small as 40 bp in the cancer genome sequenced at 10X coverage,while we could only detect large CNVs(>15 Kb) in the array CGH profiles for the same *** percent(14/16) of the small variants tested(110 bp to 14 Kb) were experimentally validated by quantitative PCR,demonstrating high sensitivity and true positive rate of the *** also extended the algorithm to detect recurrent CNVs in multiple samples as well as deriving error bars for breakpoints using a Gibbs sampling approach.

Terrestrial vertebrate sites in the Fleming Formation, first discovered in 1993 on Fort Polk in western Louisiana, had been the only source of Miocene terrestrial vertebrates in the state until discoveries in southeastern Louisiana in the Pascagoula Formation in june of 2005. 6,359 catalogued specimens, mainly mammals, have been recovered from western Louisiana, including the rhinoceros Aphelops, a gomphothere, two species of merychippine horse, the protoceratid Prosynthetoceras francisi, a large camel, a small peccary, Miomustela, a hedgehog, bats, shrews, two small beavers, rodents Copemys & Texomys, heteromyids, and squirrels, as well as lower vertebrates including turtles, snakes, frogs, toads, salamanders, and fish. In recent years,there has been a significant transformation in the field of incoherent imaging with new possibilities of compressing three-dimensional(3d)information into a two-dimensional intensity distribution without two-beam interference(TBI).Most of the incoherent 3d imagers without TBI are based on scattering by a random phase mask exhibiting sharp autocorrelation and low cross-correlation along the ***,during reconstruction,high lateral and axial resolutions are *** based on scattering requires an astronomical photon budget and is therefore precluded in many power-sensitive *** this study,a proof-of-concept 3d imaging method without TBI using deterministic fields has been demonstrated.A new reconstruction method called the Lucy-Richardson-Rosen algorithm has been developed for this imaging *** believe that the proposed approach will cause a paradigm-shift in the current state-of-the-art incoherent imaging,fluorescence microscopy,mid-infrared fingerprinting,astronomical imaging,and fast object recognition applications.
