The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-covV-2)infection is associated with a hyperinflammatory state and lymphocytopenia,a hallmark that appears as both signature and prognosis of disease severity *** cytokine storm and a sustained inflammatory state are commonly associated with immune cell depletion,it is still unclear whether direct SARS-cov-2 infection of immune cells could also play a role in this scenario by harboring viral *** found that monocytes,as well as both B and T lymphocytes,were susceptible to SARS-cov-2 infection in vitro,accumulating double-stranded RNA consistent with viral RNA replication and ultimately leading to expressive T cell *** addition,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analysis revealed that SARS-cov-2 was frequently detected in monocytes and B lymphocytes from coronavirus disease 2019(coVID-19)*** rates of SARS-cov-2-infected monocytes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from coVID-19 patients increased over time from symptom onset,with SARS-coV-2-positive monocytes,B cells,and cD4+T lymphocytes also detected in postmortem lung *** results indicated that SARS-coV-2 infection of blood-circulating leukocytes in covID-19 patients might have important implications for disease pathogenesis and progression,immune dysfunction,and virus spread within the host.

Microwave Plasma Treatment for catalyst Preparation: Application to Alumina Supported Silver catalysts for ScR NO<sub>x</sub>by Ethanol

Thermal treatment either in the presence of oxygen (calcination) or of a reducing agent (reduction) result is all the time a key issue within the preparation of a catalyst. In this work, a microwave plasma treatment was chosen as an alternative to typical calcinations, because it is a more energy efficient process. Thus, a Microwave Fluidized Bed Plasma reactor (MFBP) was employed in catalyst synthesis process under different gas compositions, such as argon and argon/oxygen mixtures over g-alumina supported silver catalysts, which are generally used for selective reduction of NOx by ethanol. After the first catalytic tests performed in the presence of plasma treated catalyst, it can be concluded that plasma treatment process represents an interesting alternative to conventional calcination during catalyst synthesis, resulting in a more sustainable process, moreover in view of its industrial application. In order to understand the particular effect of plasma treatment, the catalysts submitted to this treatment were carefully characterized by means of thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and UV-VIS-NIR.

Major bleeding events in octagenarians associated with drug interactions between dabigatran and P-gp inhibitors

Background The direct oral anticoagulant dabigatran does not require any routine therapeutic drug ***,concerns about possible drug interactions susceptible to increase its inherent bleeding risk,especially in very elderly patients,have been raised *** aim of our study was to evaluate to what extent the co-prescription of P-gp inhibitors with dabigatran may increase its plasma levels and lead to bleeding complications,in usual conditions of care of the very *** Fifty-eight patients over 85 years old with non valvular atrial fibrillation receiving dabigatran were included in a prospective *** were screened for the presence of P-gp inhibitors(Group A)or not(Group B).Results Patients from Group A had increased dabigatran mean plasma concentrations as compared with patients from Group B(A vs.B:182.2±147.3 vs.93.7±64.9 ng/m L).One third of the patients from Group A had dabigatran concentrations that were deemed"out of range"versus none in Group B(P=0.05).This was associated with more frequent bleeding complications in Group A(A:30.4%,B:8.6%,P=0.04).conclusion In our cohort of very elderly patients,at least,the co-prescription of dabigatran with P-gp inhibitors in usual conditions of care resulted in higher dabigatran plasma concentrations and more frequent bleeding occurrences.

During the pandemic, technological innovation provided a platform with a range of uses, including in the healthcare industry. Technology is currently being used in vaccination drives run by many governments across the world to help spread vaccines quickly and efficiently. The technology makes healthcare personnel more effective at their professions and greatly raises the standard of service in the industry. The researchers undertook this study to create a suitable and long-lasting immunization database with a mapping method to give a better perspective of the immunization status. To gather essential information for this study, the researchers spoke with the local health officer in the targeted area. The obtained data then served as the basis for the system’s capabilities and features, becoming the target problems addressed by the developers. The investigation found that the majority of procedures and interactions are carried out manually and recorded on an unprotected, antiquated Excel spreadsheet. The researchers’ technology also shows to be a superior way to deal with the problems and difficulties while making their health-related transactions and operations quicker, safer, and much more effective.

Background and Objectives: Early and Enhanced clinical Exposure immediately places postgraduate students in a clinical setting and incorporates continual hands-on instruction throughout their studies. It aims to motivate students by strengthening their academics, improving clinical and communication skills, and increasing their confidence. The underlying principles are to provide a clinical context and to ensure that the patient remains the centre of learning. The School of Nursing Sciences implemented this model in 2021 to produce hands-on Masters-level neonatal practitioners who can work in multidisciplinary clinical contexts. Therefore, this study explored the experiences of postgraduate nursing students on the Early and Enhanced clinical Exposure model and draw implications for the future. Methods: A phenomenological study design was utilized at the University of Zambia, School of Nursing Sciences and comprised of eight Master of Science Neonatal Nursing students in their second year. convenience sampling was used to select the study site and participants. Data was collected between 15th January 2023 and 31st January 2023 using an in-depth interview guide. Audio recording and notes were transcribed immediately after data collection. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis and codes and themes were constructed from the coded data. Ethical clearance and permission were sought before conducting the study. Results: Four major themes emerged from the study: identity and role confusion, challenging and hectic experiences, positive educational experiences, and personal and professional growth. These themes contributed to the promotion of evidence-based practice by helping students to assess, diagnose, and treat various conditions, as well as gain interest, experience, knowledge, and exposure. conclusion: The model has a significant impact on motivation to learn, as evidenced by reported increased skill level with potential for use in c
