Primary testicular lymphoma:Clinical characteristics and oncological outcomes

The goal of this study was to isolate and molecular identification of basidiomycetes species with laccase activity from soil and vegetative mycelial aggregations in different forest *** species were isolated from soil and mycelia,using different techniques,samples collected from five different geographic regions with dominant vegetation of Pinusspp.,Abiesspp.,and Quercus spp.,in state of Michoacan,*** activity of fungal isolates was analyzed by guaiacol *** number of basidiomycetes with laccase activity were isolated from mycelialagrigations,collected from Atecuaro（pinus and oak forest）,Michoacán,*** of laccase positive fungi was carried out by sequence comparison and phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed region（ITS1F-5.8S-ITS4b） of r DNA genes with reference taxa.A total of fourteen strains（14） with high laccase activity of basidiomycetes were identified in thirteen genera i.e.,bjerkandera,Corticiaceae,Coriolopsis,Echinodontium,Ganoderma,Hexagonia,Irpex,Limonomyces,Psathyrella,Peniophora,Phlebiopsis,Trametes and Trichaptum.

Physicochemical and Functional Characterization of Mucuna pruriesDepigmented Starch for Potential Industrial Applications

Starch is a very important biopolymer in the food industry. The velvet bean (M. pruriens) is an excellent potential starch source containing approximately 520 g starch per kg. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical and functional properties of velvet bean depigmented starch. The starch granules appear oval and spherical shaped. The colour registered L*, a*, b* values of 44.9, 0.324 and 0.341 respectively. The chemical composition registered values of moisture, ash, fat, protein, fibre and NFE of 110.5, 5.8, 5.7, 0.0, 34 and 954.5 g/kg respectively, as well as amylose levels of 215.3 g/kg. Gelatinization onset (To), peak (Tp) and final (Tf) temperatures were of 74.23°C, 80.57°C and 86.39°C. The solubility (3.1% - 16.2%), swelling power (SP) (2.86% - 16.17%) and water absorption capacity (WAC) (2.67 - 15.95 g water/g starch) were directly correlated to temperature (60°C - 90°C). The enthalpy values (4.10 - 13.47 j/g) were directly correlated to the time (1 - 21 days). The retrogradation increased as time increased. The viscosity of M. pruriens depigmented starch decreased slightly during the heating stages and then increased during cooling and the refrigeration and freezing stability registered syneresis ranges from 17.65 to 23.18 mL/50mL and from 16.4 to 22.6 mL/50mL respectively, indicating that the depigmented starch was unstable in heating-cooling processes.

Asymptomatic Cardiac Manifestations in Rheumatoid Arthritis in Conakry (Guinea)

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease. It is a systemic disease with extra-articular manifestations that can be life-threatening. In sub-Saharan Africa, there is little published information on cardiovascular manifestations in RA. Objective: The objective is to determine the asymptomatic cardiac manifestations during rheumatoid arthritis in Conakry. Patients and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study lasting 6 months from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 in the rheumatology and cardiology departments of the Ignace Deen National Hospital. Patients with RA diagnosed according to the 2010 ACR/EULAR criteria, asymptomatic at the cardiovascular level, which had an ECG and echocardiography, were included in the study. Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction was considered in any patient with an E/A ratio 1, an E/E’ ratio > 10, and an LVEF = 50%, assessed by the Simpson biplane method and classified according to Redfield. Epidemiological, clinical and paraclinical data were analyzed using SPSS statistics 21.0 software. Results: Seventeen cases of rheumatoid arthritis (5.9%) were collected. There was a predominance of women with 14 cases (82.4%). The mean age of patients was 48.2 ± 11.9 years. The average duration of RA was 7.2 ± 4.2 years. Cardiovascular risk factors were dominated by overweight and obesity (58.8%) and sedentary lifestyle (35.3%). RA was predominantly high activity (DAS 28 ≥ 5.1) in 82.4% of patients. Anti-CCP antibodies were positive in 76.9% of cases. Fourteen patients (82.4%) had abnormal cardiac results. The electrocardiogram showed left atrial hypertrophy in 29.4% of cases, left ventricular hypertrophy (11.8%) and ventricular extrasystole (11.8%). The cardiac Doppler scan showed diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle (47.1%) and moderate pericardial effusion in 11.8% of cases. Cryptosporidium spp. infection is one of the causes of diarrhea in people living with HIV/AIDS. The objective of this study is to compare the sensitivity of microscopy and molecular biology to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp. in Patients Living With HIV (PLWH). This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in three care centers for people living with HIV/AIDS in Abidjan. It took place from November 2018 to March 2020. Sociodemographic data were obtained via a questionnaire. Stool and blood samples were collected and analyzed for microscopy and Nested PCR detection of Cryptosporidium spp. blood samples were analyzed for CD4+ count. A total of 363 stool samples were collected from the three sites. Individuals aged 40 - 50 years (36.52%) were most likely to participate in the study. HIV Type 1 accounted for 86.22% of the study population. The samples collected consisted of 47.65% diarrheal stool. Microscopic examination of the stool yielded a prevalence of 3.86% for Cryptosporidium spp. while the prevalence was 3.96% with molecular identification. No statistically significant difference was observed between these two prevalences (χ2 = 0.26;p = 0.609). CD4+ count was the factor associated with Cryptosporidium spp. infection for both microscopy (OR = 0.887, p = 0.001) and PCR (OR = 0.896, p = 0.001). This study demonstrated that Nested PCR improves the detection of Cryptosporidium spp. in patient diagnosis.

Nutrition is an important aspect of public health because it is linked to many significant diseases and health problems. This work is part of the promotion of traditional foods from the Democratic Republic of Congo in general and in the province of bandundu, in particular by assessing the selenium content and the antioxidant capacity of wild edible mushrooms. Methanolic extracts from selected mushrooms were characterized for their chemical fingerprint by TLC and their in vitro antioxidant activities using AbTS, DPPH assays. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, free amines, steroids and terpenes in all species. However, Auricularia delicata and Pleurotus tuberregium contain flavonoids. All extracts displayed a good radical-scavenging activity at the concentration range 1 - 300 μg/mL in the following order: Auricularia delicata > Lentinus cf cladopus > Pleurotus tuberregium > Marasmius buzungolo > Schizophillum commune. Studied mushrooms showed the interest quantity of selenium and L. cf cladodus had the highest concentration. Moderate selenium content of these wild mushrooms associated with their important antioxidant activities could provide health benefits to bandundu’s populations in protecting against oxidative damage under different conditions including konzo.

Novel 3-phenyl/pyridinyl-trans-2-(aryl/heteryl)vinyl-3H-quinazolin-4-ones 3a,b, 4a, 5a, 7a and their 6,7-difluoro de- rivatives 3c,d, 4b, 5b, 7b have been obtained by condensation of the correspondent 2-methylquinazolin-4-ones 1, 6 with aromatic (heterocyclic) aldehydes in the presence of ZnCl2 (AcONa) or by the reaction of 2-methyl-3,1-benzoxazin-4- ones 2 with the Shiff bases. Especially high health risks associated with impacts of metallic nanoparticles (Me-NPs) and their presence in the workplace and ambient air of not only the nano-industry but also of some long-existing traditional technologies make it necessary, along with keeping respective dangerous exposures as low as possible, to look for ways of increasing the organism’s resistance to them. based on theoretical premises of such beneficial interference with toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics of Me-NPs developed by our research team and on understanding general and specific key mechanisms of different Me-NPs’ toxic action, we proposed several bioprotective complexes (bPCs) comprising mainly pectin, some vitamins, glutamate, glycine, N-acetylcysteine, omega-3 PUFA, and different essential trace elements. Results of our animal experiments with different Me-NPs showed that, against the background of such bPCs’ oral administration, the integral and specific toxicity of Me-NPs and even their genotoxicity can be markedly attenuated. Therefore we would recommend to further develop this vector of nano-toxicological research.
