n.>In.roduction./stron.>: Benign oesophageal strictures are defined as narrowing of the oesophageal lumen not related to neoplastic pathology. They are frequently encountered during endoscopic practice and are often responsible for a reduction in the quality of life of patients due to the appearance of dysphagia. In sub-Saharan Africa, little data are available on these benign esophageal strictures. The objective of our study was to determine the sociodemographic, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of benign oesophageal strictures in a digestive endoscopy centre in Senegal. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive study analysing reports of upper GI endoscopies performed between January 2015 and December 2017 in a hospital in Senegal. Reports that concluded to have non-neoplastic oesophageal stenosis were collated. Sociodemographic data, indications for and results of endoscopy, and therapeutic modalities were collected. These data were analysed using the Sphinx version 5 software. Results: n.style="fon.-family:;" "="">We collected 101 cases of ben.gn.oesophageal sten.sis, represen.in. a prevalen.e of 2.1% in.the en.oscopy cen.re. The mean.age of the patien.s was 34 years (ran.e 2 an. 83 years) with a median.of 37.9 years. There was a female predomin.n.e with a sex ratio of 0.38 n.(73 females). Dysphagia, the main.symptom, was presen.

n.>In.roduction.n.> The treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) requires the combination of antibiotic therapy with an antisecretory agent. Due to increasing antibiotic resistance, which varies from one geographical region to another, several eradication protocols exist. Objective: Tn.n.n.he n.n.on.n.bjective isn.n. evaluaten.n. and compare the efficacy of three treatment regimens for H. pylori infection: 1) Arm A: Omeprazole + Amoxicillin + Clarithromycin for 10 days;2) Arm B: Omeprazole + Amoxicillin + Metronidazole for 10 days;3) Arm C: Sequential treatment = Omeprazole + Amoxicillin for 5 days then Omeprazole + Clarithromycin + Metronidazole for 5 days. Patients and Method: This was a prospective randomised study conducted from February 2016 to July 2016 and from April 2017 to September 2017 in the digestive endoscopy center of the gastroenterology and hepatology department of the University Hospital Cen.er Aristide Le Dan.ec. Our study population.con.isted of all patien.s aged 18 years or older referred for upper GI en.oscopy. We in.luded all patien.s whose in.ication.for the examin.tion.was epigastralgia an./or dyspepsia an. whose rapid urease test was positive. Patien.s were ran.omized to the differen. treatmen. arms. The cyst n.matode, Globodera pallida, is an.obligate, biotrophic pathogen.of potato, causin. up to 80% yield loss. In.the presen. study, a n.n.destructive imagin. techn.que was used to compare the developmen. an. behavior of G. pallida in.its host Solan.m tuberosum an. in.the n.n.host S. sisymbriifolium. We used microscopy-rhizosphere chambers coupled with the fluorescen. stain.PKH26, an. compared this with destructively sampled acid fuchsin.stain.n.. n. sign.fican. differen.e (P ≥ 0.90) in.G. pallida n.mbers was foun. whether stain.d with PKH26 or acid fuchsin.for either plan. species in.icatin. n. toxic effect from the vital stain. PKH26 labelled J2s successfully located an. pen.trated roots of both S. tuberosum an. S. sisymbriifolium. Two days after in.culation. Biliary cystaden.ma is a multilocular cystic ben.gn.tumor which arises in.the in.rahepatic biliary system. Diagn.sis is often.difficult an. based on.imagin., however histology remain. the on.y argumen. for diagn.sis certain.y. We report a case of biliary cystaden.ma in.a 69-year-old female. Observation. it was a 69-year-old female with history of RHUPUS syn.rome (Lupus + Rheumatoid arthritis) un.er low-dose corticosteroid therapy. She presen.ed with pain.in.the right hypochon.rium with perman.n. moderate in.en.ity for 3 mon.hs associated to altered performan.e status. Physical examin.tion.showed a hepatomegaly, cervical subluxation. an. pulmon.ry con.en.ation.syn.rome. Hepatobiliary ultrasoun. showed presen.e of multiple septate cystic formation. occupyin. segmen.s 1, 7, 8, 5 of the left liver. Abdomin.l CT scan.an. hepatic MRI were in.favor of biliary cystaden.ma but could n.t rule out biliary cystaden.carcin.ma with certain.y. Con.lusion. biliary cystaden.ma is a ben.gn.cystic tumor of the liver. The differen.ial diagn.sis with cystaden.carcin.ma is most often.difficult an. usually requires histological an.lysis for diagn.stic certain.y.

AIM: To explore differen. effects of 12 beticolin., Cer-cospora beticola toxin., on.ras-tran.formed adren.corti-cal cell growth in.ibition.an. their fun.tion.l mechan.sm. METHODS: Beticolin.in.uced in.ibition.was measured with survival cell n.mber determin.d by an.automated photocolorimetric method. The pen.tration.of beticolin.was examin.d by con.ocal microscopy. Ras protein.determin.d by Lowry method were separated by 14 % SDS-PAGE an. electroblotted to Immobilon.P tran.fer membran. an. detected with pan.Ras (Ab-3) mon.clon.l an.ibody. Hepatic artery an.urysm (HAA) is a rare disease. HAA is gen.rally asymptomatic disease when.symptomatic, they usually presen. with abdomin.l pain. upper gastroin.estin.l (GI) bleedin. an./or jaun.ice, hypovolaemia secon.ary to rupture or GI bleedin. with n.rmal GI en.oscopy. Surgical repair an. en.ovascular treatmen. are the two therapeutic option. available at presen.. Case report: A 49-year-old male presen.ed at the emergen.y departmen. with high gastroin.estin.l bleedin., abdomin.l pain.an. jaun.ice. Gastroscopy showed an.ulcer with flat pigmen.ed haematin.on.ulcer base (Forrest IIc) that was con.rolled by medical treatmen.. CT an.iography was don. an. showed an.urysm of the proper hepatic artery almost totally thrombosed measurin. 100 × 59 mm associated with sign. of con.ain.d rupture. Emergen.y surgery was in.icated. The laparotomy objectified a rupture of the an.urysm in.the biliary tree in.per operative excision.of an.urysm an. ligation.of the hepatic pedicle was carried out. After surgery, the evolution.was favorable with a follow-up of 8 mon.hs. Con.lusion. HAA rupture is a rare cause of upper GI bleedin.. The mortality rate after rupture is relatively high. CT an.iography or MRI can.diagn.se a ruptured of HAA. Urgen. surgery should be the first choice in.patien.s with a ruptured HAA with active hemorrhage causin. hemorrhagic shock.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a gen.tic blood disorder that affects the shape an. tran.portation.of red blood cells (RBCs) in.blood vessels, leadin. to various clin.cal complication.. Sickle cell disease is a widespread gen.tic disease in.Black Africa. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sicklin. in.ibition.activity of Griffon.a simplicifolia. Quan.itative an. qualitative tests were used to determin. the major groups of secon.ary metabolites presen. in.the Griffon.a simplicifolia leaves extracts an. the modified Emmel test was used to perform the study of sicklin. in.ibition.activity. The OECD 423 toxicity study showed that at a sin.le dose of 2000 mg/kg bw, Griffon.a simplicifolia leaves extracts are n.t toxic. All tested substan.es in.ibit erythrocyte falciformation.in.a dose-depen.en. man.er. The percen.ages of in.ibition.were 50.35%, 73% an. 94.23% for aqueous extract, hydromethan.lic extract an. phen.lalan.n. respectively at the con.en.ration.of 15 mg/mL. The methan.lic extract (70%) had higher activity compared to the aqueous extract. These results suggest that the Griffon.a simplicifolia extracts have some poten.ial to be used as altern.tive an.isicklin. therapy in.SCD man.gemen..
