Floor systems with non-homogeneous slabs have more complex means of propagation than homogeneous systems, with more variables to be considered in predictions by theoretical models. For those slabs, it is necessary to understand the differences of each material composing each subsystem, and the connection types between the elements of each one of this subsystem. Some floors integrating lightweight elements without structural purposes, are broadly used in several countries in precast slabs. The predictions based on computer modelling for building systems can be influenced by the input parameters related to connections between the elements of the floor system. In building structures, the analysis of radiation due to element vibrations may be represented by wave propagation relationships as a one-dimensional system, a two-dimensional system or a three-dimensional solid. In these floors, the modelling of the interaction between elements can be basically a face, a line or a point connection. In addition, the choice of the connection type can determine the vibration transmission amongst all the floor elements. This study focuses on the differences that can be obtained in the induced vibration response due to an impact source on non-homogeneous slabs. It also presents some examples of modelling options for several floor systems, considering input parameters for different connection types.

AIM： TO evaluate the impact of hepatitis C virus （HCV） infection with genotype 1 or 3 and the presence or absence of liver cirrhosis （LC） in the early viral kinetics response to treatment. METHODS： Naive patients （n = 46） treated with interferon-α （IFN-α） and ribavirin and followed up with frequent early HCV-RNA determinations were analysed. Patients were infected with genotype 1 （n = 28, 7 with LC） or 3 （n = 18, 5 with LC）. RESULTS： The first phase decline was larger in genotype 3 patients than in genotype 1 patients （1.72 vs 0.95 log IU/mL, P 〈 0.001）. The second phase slope decline was also larger in genotype 3 patients than in genotype 1 patients （0.87 vs 0.15 log/wk, P 〈 0.001）. Differences were found in both cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic patients. Genotype 1 cirrhotic patients had a slower 2^nd phase slope than non-cirrhotic patients （0.06 vs 0.18 log/wk, P 〈 0,02）. None of genotype 1 cirrhotic patients had a 1^st phase decline larger than 1 log （non-cirrhotic patients： 55%, P 〈 0.02）. A similar trend toward a slower 2nd phase slope was observed in genotype 3 cirrhotic patients but the 1^st phase slope decline was not different. Sustained viral response was higher in genotype 3 patients than in genotype 1 patients ,（72% vs 14%, P 〈 0.001） and in genotype 1 non-cirrhotic patients than in genotype 1 cirrhotic patients （19% vs 0%）. A second phase decline slower than 0.3 log per week was predictive of non-response in all groups. CONCLUSION： Genotype 3 has faster early viral decline than genotype 1. Cirrhosis correlates with a slower 2nd phase decline and possibly with a lower 1^st phase slope decline in genotype 1 patients.

Aim:To compare the acute effects of ascorbic acid on vasodilation of veins andarteries in ***:Twenty-six healthy non-smokers and 23 healthy moder-ate smokers were recruited in this *** dorsal hand vein compliance tech-nique and flow-mediated dilation were ***-response curves to bradykininand sodium nitroprusside were constructed to test the endothelium-dependentand-independent relaxation before and after acute infusion of ascorbic ***:Smokers had an impaired venodilation with bradykinin compared withnon-smokers(68.3%±13.2% vs 93.7%±20.1%,respectively;P<0.05).Ascorbic acidadministration in the dorsal hand vein significantly increased the venodilationwith bradykinin in smokers(68.3%±13.2% vs 89.5%±6.3% before and after infusion,respectively;P<0.05)but not in non-smokers(93.7%±20.1% vs 86.4%±12.4% be-fore and after infusion,respectively).Similarly,the arterial response in smokershad an impaired endothelium-dependent dilation compared with that in non-smok-ers(8.8%±2.7% vs 15.2%±2.3%,respectively;P<0.05)and ascorbic acid restoredthis response in smokers(8.8%±2.7% vs 18.7%±6.5% before and after infusion,respectively;P<0.05),but no difference was seen in non-smokers(15.2%±2.3% vs14.0%±4.4% before and after infusion,respectively).The endothelium-indepen-dent dilation did not differ in both the groups *** important hemody-namic change was detected using the Portapress ***:Smokershad impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation responsiveness in both arte-rial and venous *** acid restores this responsiveness in smokers.

The consumption of marine macroalgae has been linked with health benefits,albeit some actions,including genoprotection,remain ***,we evaluated the genoprotective potential of a mixture of Ulva rigida,Fucus vesiculosus and Gracilaria gracilis,through direct consumption or via indirect intake using fish(Sparus aurata)as a vector of algal ***(Mus musculus)were subjected to a 1-month dietary supplementation with 5%of macroalgae mix or 10%of fillet of fish previously fed with an algae-supplemented aquafeed(for comparison purposes,10%supplementation with fillet of fish standardly fed was also considered).Thereafter,mice were challenged by the genotoxicant methyl methanesulfonate(MMS),and the genetic damage was evaluated through the micronuclei ***,a wider evaluation was carried out encompassing the assessment of energy metabolism,haematological and histological parameters,as well as growth *** unequivocally protected against MMS-induced *** activity profile of hepatic lactate and isocitrate dehydrogenases promoted by the supplemented diets reflected an improved energy *** properties were not transferred via fish fed with the algae-supplemented aquafeed,though the transference of phytocomponents with beneficial properties(*** balance improvement)should not be ***,these findings highlighted the genoprotection afforded by marine macroalgae,likely promoted by desmutagenic factors,reinforcing their definition as functional *** possibility of using fish as an indirect source of algae-borne phytocomponents proved to be plausible and worthy of further investigations.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the systemic action of electroacupuncture and laserpuncture in the repair of excisional cutaneous injuries on the back of adult female Wistar ***:Ninety animals were divided into three experimental groups:C-control;E-treated with electroacupuncture[acupoints:Feishu(BL13),Geshu(BL17),Zusanli(ST36)];L-treated with laserpuncture(same acupoints)and euthanized on the 7 th,14 th and 21 st days for tissue removal and preparation for histomorphometric and biochemical(dosages,zymography and Western blotting)***:The number of fibroblasts in the E and L groups presented higher values than the C on the14 th and 21 st *** number of granulocytes was lower than C on the 21 st day in groups E and *** total number of newly formed vessels increased on the 21 st day and was higher in both treatments when compared to *** birefringent collagen fibers detected on the 21 st day was lower in groups E and L than group *** glycosaminoglycans and hydroxyproline amount was similar among groups throughout the experimental *** active isoform of matrixmetallo proteinase(MMP)-2 and the latent isoform of MMP-9 did not show any differences among all groups and experimental *** amount of collagenⅠpresented higher values in the L group on the 14 th day and in the E and L groups on the 21 st *** typeⅢcollagen,groups E and L presented values lower than C in all experimental *** amount of transforming growth factor-β1 in the E and L groups showed higher amounts than C on the 7 th day and lower on the 14 th and 21 st *** vascular endothelial growth factor,E and L groups presented similar and lower values than C on the 7 th and 14 th days,respectively,and similar on the 21 st ***:The therapies evaluated in this article stimulated fibroblast proliferation,neoangiogenesis and altered the reorganization of collagen fibers in the repair of excisional injuries in female adult rats.

Tbio is a start-up created to give support to commercialize the products of the biofactory installed in the Federal University of Lavras, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, part of the Innovation Program developed by this University. Its specialty is to innovate, through biological solutions with the vision of the future, once there is a strong demand of food and beverages free of chemical residues and with lower employing of these substances along the production chain by several consumers. The innovative products are generated from microorganisms tested regarding its capacity to promote yield protection, pests and disease control, acceleration of the desmucilage waste water treatment, and improvement of process of faster solubilization, that depends on natural phosphate fertilizers. The goal of this article is to approach the activities that have been developed in this start-up and the knowledge about biocontrol and natural antimicrobials produced by fungi resulting in innovative products to attend the world claim for products free of chemical residues of any kind and harmless to the consumers, environment and workers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the focus of authorities and health organizations with respect to other infectious diseases. This review aims to examine the changes in global epidemiological parameters related to Zika virus during the COVID-19 pandemic and the progress made since 2020 in various aspects of infection. A narrative review was conducted, focusing on articles published between January 2020 and June 2023, covering epidemiology, pathogenicity, transmission, diagnosis, and treatment of Zika virus. The findings of this survey reveal that there has been a significant decrease in reported cases of Zika virus infection during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, advancements have been made in understanding the pathogenicity of the virus and the development of new diagnostic methods, vaccines, and treatments. The lessons learned from the response to COVID-19 have played a pivotal role in guiding efforts that have resulted in progress regarding various aspects related to Zika virus infection.

Respiratory muscle training with electronic devices in the postoperative period of hepatectomy:A randomized study

BACKGROUND Many studies have been developed with a focus on surgical techniques and drugs,but few that address the importance of rehabilitation in the pre and postoperative period,and the specific benefits for each surgical procedure or type of neoplasm,aiming to minimize respiratory complications in the postoperative *** To compare the strength of the respiratory muscles in the pre and postoperative periods of hepatectomy by laparotomy and to verify the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications among the groups *** Prospective,randomized,clinical trial study that compared the inspiratory muscle training group(GTMI)with the control group(CG).After the collection of sociodemographic and clinical data,in both groups,preoperatively,on the first and fifth postoperative days,vital signs and pulmonary mechanics were evaluated and *** and bilirubin values were recorded for the albumin-bilirubin(ALBI)*** randomization and allocation of participants,those in the CG underwent conventional physical therapy and those in the GTMI underwent conventional physical therapy plus inspiratory muscle,in both groups for five postoperative *** Of 76 subjects met eligibility *** collection of 41 participants was completed:20 in the CG and 21 in the *** most frequent diagnosis was 41.5%with liver metastasis,followed by 26.8%with hepatocellular *** for respiratory complications in the GTMI,there was no *** the CG,there were three respiratory *** in the CG classified as ALBI score 3 presented,statistically,a higher energy value compared to patients classified as ALBI score 1 and 2(P=0.0187).Respiratory variables,measured preoperatively and on the first postoperative day,had a significant drop in both groups from the preoperative to the first postoperative day(P≤0.0001).When comparing the preoperative period and the fifth postoperative day between the GTMI and the CG,the maximal inspira
