On an agrosilvopastoral farm in central Italy where Maremmana cattle graze in Turkey oak forests,we evaluated the impact of different livestock densities on stand structure,tree diversity and natural regeneration in four types of grazed areas based on the grazing regime adopted:calf-grazed,high-intensity-grazed,low-intensity-grazed,ungrazed *** each area,we set up three permanent circular plots(radius of 15 m)to survey the structural and dasometric characteristics of the overstorey,understorey,and regeneration *** results showed that grazing negatively affected the complexity of the forest structure and its potential to regenerate and maintain a high level of *** differences in stand structure observed between the grazing areas were closely related to livestock *** most sensitive components of the system were the understorey and the regeneration ***,the current grazing management did not affect the dominant tree structure or its *** findings identified medium-term monitoring and regeneration management as the two significant aspects to consider when assessing sustainable *** forests can be established by excluding graz-ing for about 20–25 years.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of enzymes in purifying and reducing the degree of polymerization of cellulose for the production of dissolving *** goal was to determine the contributions of xylanase(X)and endoglucanase(EG)in the treatment of pulp,specifically by quantifying the formation of soluble and insoluble reducing sugars using the dinitrosalycilic acid(DNS)***,the release of soluble reducing sugars(RSSol)was enhanced after xylanase treatment,while endoglucanase(EG)treatment led to changes in insoluble reducing sugars(RSIns).The maximum synergism was observed for RSIns when a high ratio of endoglucanase to xylanase(320EG:5X/g pulp)was *** relative contribution of endoglucanase to RSins was determined to be 15.6%of the total reducing *** viscosity of pulps treated with xylanase decreased only by 7%,whereas endoglucanase treatment significantly reduced viscosity by 45%.Modifications in the particle size were observed after pulp treatment with the combination of endoglucanase and *** summary,the DNS test is a rapid and effective method for evaluating the efficiency of enzyme treatments on *** measurement of RSIns correlates with changes in pulp viscosity to different extents,providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of enzyme treatments.

Importance:The 3-min step test is a simple option to monitor submaximal exercise capacity,although its use via remote video monitoring has not been investigated in children with cystic fibrosis(CF).Objective:This study aimed to assess the feasibility and reproducibility of performing the 3-min step test with remote ***:A cross-sectional study including CF patients(6-18 years)from two CF services were ***,anthropometric,clinical,and lung function data were collected and two 3-min step tests were performed:(i)in-person supervision,and(ii)remotely supervised by video *** and after the tests,heart rate(HR),oxygen saturation(SpO2),and the Borg score for dyspnea and lower limb fatigue were ***:Twenty-three patients(10.7±3.7 years)with a mean FEV1 of 89.5%±23.2%were *** were no significant differences between tests,with mean differences(95%confidence intervals)in final HR of-3.3(-8.9,2.4),change in HR of-1.9(-6.1,2.1),final SpO2 of 0.3(-0.4,1.0),and final dyspnea of 0.1(-0.8,0.9).The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.852(final HR),0.762(final SpO2),and 0.775(final lower limb fatigue).Significant and moderate correlations were found between tests for final HR(r=0.75),change in HR(r=0.61),and final SpO2(r=0.61).The Bland-Altman analysis showed a mean difference in final SpO2 between tests of 0.3%(limit of agreement-3.0%,3.5%).Interpretation:physiological responses between tests were similar,indicating it was feasible to perform the 3-min step test with remote supervision in CF children.

It is reported a multi-proxy palaeoclimatic study conducted on a MIS 5e calcarenite from the Mar piccolo Basin(Mp),Gulf of Taranto(GT)(Central Mediterranean).The calcarenite returned a rich malacofauna consisting of 120 extant species,including four of the tropical Senegalese Fauna,today absent in the *** biogeographic-climatic affinity of the assemblage shows,compared to today,a double percentage of warm affinity species,while the cold affinity species are nearly equally represented,indicating a warmer but not strictly tropical *** is confirmed by the most recurring preferred SST ranges of the assemblage,indicating an average of 20℃.The skeletal compositions of five well-preserved molluscan and coral specimens were analyzed for trace elements and stable isotopes for further mean SST *** the comparison of the results of several equations available in literature,it appears that only some SST estimations are realistic,converging into similar values of,on average,20.8±0.9℃.Considering all the used proxies,the MIS 5e SST difference compared to today falls in the range 1.2—2.0℃for the GT(being a more reasonable scenario)and 2.0—2.8℃for the *** is not a firmly tropical-like SST setting as suggested by the sole Senegalese fauna,indicating at least 2.7℃—3.5℃more than today’s GT and Mp,*** approximations and assumptions made for obtaining SST values with any single proxy indicate the need of a multi-proxy approach to define the best SST estimation.

Long-read sequencing with nanopore technology has been widely utilized for the identification of the full-length sequence of RNA molecules."It is especially suitable for the identification of circular RNAs(circRNAs),which are regulatory molecules that are regarded as promising non-invasive biomarkers for various human malignancies,including breast cancer.2 The impact of circRNAs derived from the protein arginine methyltransferase 1(pRMT1)gene has not been clarified yet,even though the effect of pRMT1-mediated methylation on breast cancer cell characteristics has been well established.

Background:Ocular surface disease in glaucoma patients is a significant ocular co-morbidity that can affect 40%to 59%of these patients *** current study was aimed at evaluating the potential clinical benefit of an intense pulsed light(IpL)-based treatment in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface disease due to prolonged hypotensive eyedrop *** our knowledge,this is the first series analyzing the therapeutic effect of this treatment option in this type of ***:This non-comparative prospective case series study enrolled a total of 30 glaucoma patients ranging in age from 57 to 94 years old and treated with hypotensive eyedrops for years with dry eye *** patients received four sessions of IpL treatment using the Optima IpL system(Lumenis,Yokneam,Israel)adjusted to the official optimized Lumenis *** in symptomatology,corneal staining,conjunctival hyperemia,non-invasive break-up time(NIBUT),tear osmolarity,tear meniscus height(TMH),meiboscore and meibomian gland expressibility was analyzed after ***:Statistically significant reductions were observed after IpL treatment in the symptomatology scores measured with different questionnaires[ocular surface disease index(OSDI),standard patient evaluation of eye dryness(SpEED)and symptom assessment questionnaire in dry eye(SANDE)]as well as with the visual analogue scale(ppp=0.012),as well as in tear film osmolarity(p=0.001).A significant reduction was also found in meibomian gland expressibility(p=0.003),changing the percentage of grade 3 eyes from 44.4%before IpL to 17.2%after ***:IpL therapy combined with meibomian gland expression(MGX)seems to be an effective option to improve symptomatology in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface diseas
