Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is a malignant disease associated with Epstein–Barr virus(EBV)*** study aims to examine the effects of EBV infection on the production of proinflammatory cytokines in NPC cells after the Zn-BC-AM photodynamic therapy(PDT)*** were treated with the photosensitiser Zn-BC-AM for 24 h before light *** EliSA was used to evaluate the production of *** the same experimental condition,HK-1-EBV cells produced a higher basal level of IL-1a(1561 pg/ml),IL-1b(16.6 pg/ml)and IL-8(422.9 pg/ml)than the HK-1 *** the light dose of 0.25–0.5 J/cm2,Zn-BC-AM PDT-treated HK-1-EBV cells were found to produce a higher level of IL-1a and IL-1b than the HK-1 *** production of IL-1b appeared to be mediated via the IL-1b-converting enzyme(ICE)-independent *** contrast,the production of angiogenic IL-8 was downregulated in both HK-1 and HK-1-EBV cells after Zn-BC-AM *** results suggest that Zn-BC-AM PDT might indirectly reduce tumour growth through the modulation of cytokine production.

ZnO nanoparticles(nps)among metal oxide(MOs)are proven to be essential electron transporting layers(ETLs)applied in organic solar cells(OSCs).However,intrinsic defects,interfacial charge recombination,and catalytic behavior towards the active layer restrict the applications of ZnO nps for efficient and long-term stable *** commonly available biomolecule cytidine 5'-monophosphate(CMP-OH)with phosphonic acid,its salt cytidine 5'-monophosphate disodium salt(CMP-ONa)with a phosphate group as an anchoring group and conjugated terminal functional in both analogous molecules provide carrier transfer bridge at bottom interface of the active *** theoretical investigations and characterizations have discovered the multi-site coordination of CMP-OH towards acceptor molecules and ZnO *** dual-side alignment of CMP analogous molecules hinders interfacial charge recombination and enhances charge transfer potential at ***,PM6:L8-BO-based OSCs with modified ETL obtain 18.13%efficiency,12%higher than that of unmodified *** higher efficiency,CMP-OH-based OSC devices illustrate remarkably improved thermal stability for 500 h at 85℃with 72%of initial PCE and operation stability for 2000 h with 90.1%of initial *** work reveals the passivation mechanism of multi-anchoring groups towards MOs and single-functional groups towards the active layer to optimize the interface for efficient and highly stable OSCs.

Dear Editor,Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is a common malignancy in East and Southeast Asia,especially in South *** etiology of NPC has been linked to genetic susceptibility,Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection,and environmental *** evidence including multiple genome-wide association studies(GWASs)has revealed robust genetic predisposition of ***,GWAS-identified genetic variants collectively account for only 8.2%of NPC heritability[1].The underlying inherited predisposition is largely *** strongest genetic signal for NPC consistently hits the human leukocyte antigen(HLA)region on 6p21[2].However,the highly polymorphic nature and complicated long-range linkage disequilibrium(LD)in the HLA region particularly obscure the causal variants driving the *** addition,most genetic variants located in introns or intergenic *** causal genes mediating genetic effects on NPC risk have rarely been ascertained by GWAS alone.

Previous published studies have shown an improvement of penile hemodynamic parameters after low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy(li-ESWT).However,the clinical significance of these findings remains unclear,and definitive selection criteria for li-ESWT based on preexisting comorbidities have yet to be *** was an observational study of 113 patients with ED,evaluated between January 2019 and December 2021 in Andrology Unit at the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation,University of Foggia(Foggia,Italy).Penile dynamic Doppler was performed to evaluate vascular parameters and 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Dysfunction(IIEF-5)questionnaire was administered to assess the severity of *** was repeated 1 month after *** with a peak systolic velocity(PSV)ligible for *** protocol consisted of 8 weekly sessions with 1500 strokes distributed in 5 different locations along the *** treatment,a significant mean(±standard deviation[s.d.])PSV increase of 5.0(±3.4)cm s−1 was recorded and 52/113(46.0%)patients reached a PSV>30 cm s−1 at posttherapeutic penile dynamic Doppler.A clinically significant IIEF-5 score improvement was observed in 7 patients,21 patients,and 2 patients with mild-to-moderate,moderate,and severe pretreatment ED,*** different outcomes were assessed based on smoking habits,previous pelvic surgery,or use of oral phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor(PDE5i).On the other side,only 1(6.7%)in 15 patients with diabetes mellitus showed an IIEF-5 score improvement after *** treatment determined a significant increase in PSV and correlated IIEF-5 improvement in ED *** advantage seemed particularly evident for moderate ED and was not affected by smoking habits,previous pelvic surgery,and use of ***,diabetic patients did not benefit from the treatment.
