To contribute to the empirical literature on innovation in non-profit organizations,this study examines innovation in Private Social Solidarity Institutions with social responses for the elderly in Northern *** enriches the literature by clarifying the concept of innovation applied to non-profit organizations,which represents a perspective different from the business ***,it is important to support the innovation decisionmaking process in similar non-profit *** this study,the population was surveyed through questionnaires based on the PUBLIN research project,which has already been applied in different countries,and the targets were employees of organizations with social responses for the *** sample is small,with 28 respondent institutions and 51 employees,but it is representative,as it includes institutions from all districts in Northern *** study employed a quantitative approach,particularly factor analysis,multiple linear regression,and correlation analyses,using scales already applied in other dimensions of the social sector,to understand the effect of each innovation dimension/determinant on creativity and innovation in nonprofit *** results show that in these organizations with social responses for the elderly,learning orientation,risk-taking,and job satisfaction have a positive impact on innovation.

Objective: To identify the main chemical classes of compounds from aqueous extract of enterolobium contortisiliquum(e. contortisiliquum) seed bark and to evaluate its antibacterial activity, as well as its potential to increase the activity of antibiotics against strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and escherichia ***: Different classes of compounds in the aqueous extract of e. contortisiliquum were evaluated based on the visual changes in the coloration and the formation of precipitate after the addition of specific reagents. The antibacterial activity of the extract and its potential to increase of antibiotic activity of antibiotics drugs, gentamicin and norfloxacin was determined by using the microdilution ***: Our results demonstrated that the following secondary metabolites were presented in e. contortisiliquum seed bark: flavones, flavonols, xanthones, flavononols,chalcones, aurones, flavones and catechins. The extract itself had very low antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains tested(MIC ≥ 1024 μg/m L), but there was an increase in the antibiotic activity of gentamicin and norfloxacin when combined in the subinhibitory concentration(i.e., MIC/8).Conclusions: Our data suggests that e. contortisiliquum seed bark may be an alternative source for new drugs with the potential to increase antibiotic activity against different strains of bacteria.

Solutions of Grad-Shafranov （CS） equation with Reversed Current Density （RCD） profiles present mag- netic islands when the magnetic flux is explicitly dependent on the poloidal angle. In this work it is shown that a typical cylindrical （large aspect-ratio） RCD equilibrium configuration perturbed by the magnetic field of a circular loop （simulating a divertor） is capable of generate magnetic islands, due to the poloidal symmetry break of the GS equilibrium solution.

This article gives a brief overview on the Brazilian traditional medicine,starting from its historical development based on the cultural mixing of indigenous populations,european colonizers,and African *** the sequence,it analyzes some features that contributed to the gradual loss of interest on medicinal plants in Brazil,a process started in the 1950s,and recent initiatives undertaken to valuate the Brazilian traditional ***,it highlights some drugs developed from or based on con-stituents of the Brazilian biodiversity and traditional knowledge,which are globally employed,and the perspectives for new drugs *** also discusses the sanitary requirements currently adopted in Brazil for the development and registration of medicinal products based on the Brazilian biodiversity and associated traditional knowledge,as well as the impact of new *** addition,it is presented a discussion on the regulatory framework to access to genetic heritage and associated traditional knowledge in Brazil,along with its impact on the development of pharmaceutical ***,some attempts are made to indicate the possible causes that limit the development of products based on the genetic heritage of Brazilian plants and associated traditional knowledge.

The genus Sitophilus （Coleoptera： Curculionidae） encompasses species of great economic importance as stored grain pests worldwide. Among these species, the maize and the rice weevils （Sitophilus zeamais and Sitophilus oryzae, respectively） are partic- ularly important in warmer climates. These two weevils exhibit closely morphological and ecological resemblance making difficult their proper identification and recognition of their distribution in grain-producing regions. Both species are recorded in South America and particularly in Brazil, but their respective distribution and prevalence were not yet assessed in the region. Therefore, several insect samples throughout Brazil were collected and subjected to morphological identification using male genitalia and also using molec- ular identification with species-specific primers designed for clear recognition of both the species. The primers were designed for the specific amplification of a gene fragment of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I, which exhibited high specificity during our prelimi- nary experiments with insects from six populations of known species （either S. zeamais or S. oryzae）. Both identification strategies provided the same results indicating preva- lence of the maize weevil S. zeamais throughout the country. Two hypotheses may explain such prevalence：（i） the likely host preference ofS. zeamais for maize because this is the most cultivated cereal in Brazil, and （ii） the prevalence ofS. zeamais in tropical regions as compared with S. oryzae, which is more disseminated in subtropical and temperate regions.

Although the majority of breast cancers are sporadic, it is estimated that between 5% and 10% of cases are hereditary and mostly associated with BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 mutations. Women with BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 mutation present up to 95% increased risk of breast cancer and are advised to take preventive measures. Surveillance, chemoprevention and prophylactic surgery (mastectomy and oophorectomy) are risk-reducing strategies. This literature review aims to respond to two major questions: 1) to what extent is the decision-making for prophylactic mastectomy in women with the BRCA mutation a more relevant option than other strategies, and 2) what are the major factors influencing the decision for mastectomy? For this purpose, 27 published articles were reviewed. Results show: a) the decision for mastectomy is more frequent in women carrying BRCA 1/2 mutation than in non-carriers;mastectomy being less frequent than oophorectomy;b) the decision-making is significantly associated with BRCA mutation, parity, age and family history;c) reasons underlying women decision-making relate to anxiety toward the risk of cancer, concerns with surgery, body-image and sexuality. It is discussed that, due to the complexity of the decision-making process, these cases require a careful and meticulous approach regarding information provided, and in addressing concerns.
