Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the main med.ator of the Renin-Angiotensin-System ac.ing on AT1 and.other AT rec.ptors. It is regard.d.as a pleiotropic.agent that ind.c.s many ac.ions, inc.ud.ng func.ioning as a growth fac.or, and.as a c.ntrac.ile hormone, among others. The aim of this work was to examine the impac. of Ang II on the expression and.func.ion of α1-ad.energic.rec.ptors (α1-ARs) in c.ltured.rat aorta, and.aorta-d.rived.smooth musc.e c.lls. Isolated.Wistar rat aorta was inc.bated.for 24 h in d.EM at 37˚c. then subjec.ed.to isometric.tension and.to the ac.ion of ad.ed.norepinephrine, in c.nc.ntration-response c.rves. Ang II was ad.ed.(1 × 10−5 M), and.in some experiments, 5-Methylurapid.l (α1A-AR antagonist), AH11110A (α1B-AR antagonist), or BMY-7378 (α1d./sub>-AR antagonist), were used.to id.ntify the α1-AR involved.in the response. d.sensitization of the c.ntrac.ile response to norepinephrine was observed.d.e to inc.bation time, and.by the Ang II ac.ion. α1d./sub>-AR was protec.ed.from d.sensitization by BMY-7378;while RS-100329 and.prazosin partially mitigated.d.sensitization. In another set of experiments, isolated.aorta-d.rived.smooth musc.e c.lls were exposed.to Ang II and.α1-ARs proteins were evaluated. α1d./sub>-AR inc.eased.at 30 and.60 min post Ang II exposure, the α1A-AR d.minished.from 1 to 4 h, while α1B-AR remained.unc.anged.over 24 h of Ang II exposure. Ang II ind.c.d.an inc.ease of α1d./sub>-AR at short times, and.BMY-7378 protec.ed.α1d./sub>-AR from d.sensitization.

In rec.nt years, ad.anc.s in mic.ofabric.tion tec.nology and.tissue engineering have propelled.the d.velopment of a novel d.ug sc.eening and.d.sease mod.lling platform known as organoid.on-a-c.ip. This platform integrates organoid. and.organ-on-a-c.ip tec.nologies, emerging as a promising approac. for in vitro mod.lling of human organ physiology. Urban Heat Island.Effec.s are measurable phenomenon that are being experienc.d.by the world.s most urbanized.areas, inc.ud.ng inc.eased.summer high temperatures and.lower evapotranspiration from having impervious surfac.s instead.of vegetation and.trees. Tree c.nopy c.ver is our natural mitigation tool that absorbs sunlight for photosynthesis, protec.s humans from inc.ming rad.ation, and.releases c.oling moisture into the air. Unfortunately, urban areas typic.lly have low levels of vegetation. Vulnerable urban c.mmunities are lower-inc.me areas of inner c.ties with less ac.ess to heat protec.ion like air c.nd.tioners. This stud. uses mean evapotranspiration levels to assess the variability of urban heat island.effec.s ac.oss the state of Tennessee. Results show that inc.eased.d.veloped.land.surfac. c.ver in Tennessee c.eates measurable c.anges in atmospheric.evapotranspiration. As a result, the mean evapotranspiration levels in areas with less tree vegetation are signific.ntly lower than the surround.ng forested.areas. c.ntral areas of urban c.ties in Tennessee had.lower mean evapotranspiration rec.rd.ngs than surround.ng areas with less d.velopment. This work d.monstrates the need.for inc.eased.tree c.nopy c.verage.

This work explored.possibilities of biod.grad.ble magnesium alloy Mg-3Y preparation by two mod.rn powd.r metallurgy tec.niques–spark plasma sintering(SPS)and.selec.ive laser melting(SlM).The powd.r material was c.nsolid.ted.by both method. utilising optimised.parameters,whic. led.to very low porosity(∼0.3%)in the SlM material and.unmeasurably low porosity in the SPS *** main aim of the stud. was the thorough mic.ostruc.ure c.arac.erisation and.interrelation between the mic.ostruc.ure and.the func.ional properties,suc. as mec.anic.l strength,d.formability,and.c.rrosion *** materials showed.c.mparable strength of∼110 MPa in tension and.c.mpression and.relatively good.d.formability of∼9%and.21%for the SlM and.SPS materials,*** c.rrosion resistanc. of the SPS material in 0.1 M Nac. solution was superior to the SlM one and.c.mparable to the c.nventional extrud.d.*** d.gital image c.rrelation d.ring load.ng and.the c.oss-sec.ion analysis of the c.rrosion layers revealed.that the resid.al porosity and.large strained.grains have the d.minant negative effec. on the func.ional properties of the SlM *** the other hand.one of the primary outc.mes of this stud. is that the SPS c.nsolid.tion method.is very effec.ive in the preparation of the W3 biod.grad.ble alloy,resulting in material with c.nvenient mec.anic.l and.d.grad.tion properties that might find.prac.ic.l applic.tions.

Global and.national polic. frameworks emphasize the importanc. of people's partic.pation and.volunteers' role in d.saster risk red.c.ion. While researc. has extensively foc.sed.on volunteers in d.saster response and.rec.very, less attention has been paid.on how organizations involved.in d.saster risk management c.n support volunteers in lead.ng and.c.ord.nating c.mmunitybased.d.saster risk red.c.ion. In 2019, the New Zealand.Red.c.oss piloted.the Good.and.Read. initiative in Auc.land.Aotearoa New Zealand. with the objec.ive to empower loc.l people in resilienc. build.ng with a foc.s on volunteers and.c.mmunity partic.pation. This researc. examined.the positive and.negative outc.mes of Good.and.Read. and.investigated.volunteers' experienc.s in the d.saster resilienc. initiative. It involved.the c.d.sign of a questionnaire-based.survey using partic.patory method. with Good.and.Read. volunteers, the d.ssemination of the survey to gather volunteers' viewpoints, and.a foc.s group d.sc.ssion with partic.patory ac.ivities with Red.c.oss volunteers. The find.ngs highlight that a key c.allenge lies in find.ng a balanc. between a program that provid.s flexibility to ad.ress c.ntextual issues and.fosters c.mmunities' ownership, versus a presc.iptive and.stand.rd.zed.approac. that leaves little room for c.eativity and.self-initiative.
