Securines A—E,three dimeric diarymethane derivatives(1-3)and two enantiomeric diarymethane derivative monomers(4 and 5),were isolated and characterized from the medicinal plant Securidaca *** 1 and 2 are a pair of enantiomeric diarymethane derivative dimers,and compound 3 is a mesomeric diarymethane derivative *** structures were determined b. a comb.nation of spectroscopic data,X-ray crystallography,electronic circular dichroism(ECD)analysis,and computational ECD *** compounds 1-3 showed moderate antiplasmodial activities with IC50 values of 0.9,1.4,and 1.5μM,respectively.

A chemical investigation of the 95%EtoH extract of the seeds of Cephalotaxus fortunei *** led to the isolation of nine new cephalotane-type norditerpenoids,ceforalides A-I(1-9),and two known analogues(10 and 11).Compounds 1-8 b.long to a rare class of A-ring-contracted cephalotane-type norditerpenoids,of which compound 8 incorporates a unique tetrasub.tituted 2,5-cyclohexadienone *** 9 is a rare 13,14-seco-17-nor-cephalotane-type *** structures were determined b.sed on NMR,HRESIMS,ECD,and X-ray diffraction *** tests revealed compounds 10 and 11 displayed moderate antimalarial activity.

In our long-term efforts searching for antimalarial agents from Chinese medicinal plants,seven novel dimeric sesquiterpenoids(1–7)with significant antimalarial activity were isolated and characterized from the whole plants of Sarcandra glab.a *** b. solid data acquired b. diverse *** them,compound 3 with an EC50 value of 4.3 pM against the chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum is the most potent antimalarial agent reported hitherto,ab.ut 1,000-fold stronger than *** article further consolidates and refines our previously delineated structure-activity relationship for this antimalarial compound class.

Introduction: Primary polydipsia, frequently ob.erved in patients with schizophrenia, can cause severe hyponatremia, leading to serious complications. Ob.ective: This study reviews the management and prevalence of psychogenic polydipsia, focusing on treatments and clinical outcomes. Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, studies on polydipsia in psychiatric patients were included. Data were extracted from datab.ses such as Pub.ed and Scopus, and a meta-analysis was performed. Results: Fifteen studies were analyzed, totaling 586 patients. The use of urea was effective in correcting hyponatremia, while antipsychotics showed mixed results. Heterogeneity b.tween studies was moderate (I2 = 56%). Conclusion: Psychogenic polydipsia is a severe condition in schizophrenic patients. The use of urea has shown promise, b.t further studies are needed to optimize treatments.

A contactor vessel was b.ilt to operate as either a mechanically or a conventional spouted b.d for the purpose of analyzing the drying of pasty and granular materials under comparab.e conditions in b.th configurations. A classical conical–cylindrical spouted b.d with a 60° conical b.se and an air inlet central orifice was modified to enab.e the switch b. introducing in the vessel’s center an open helicoidal conveyor screw placed ab.ve the air inlet orifice. This screw is removab.e and conveniently returns the b.d to its conventional spouted configuration. Experiments on drying solutions (calcium carb.nate suspensions and skimmed milk) and granular materials (porous alumina particles) were performed for various b.d parameter settings. The spouting pressure drop, outlet air temperature, and relative humidity were measured over time under different conditions. Mechanical agitation is proved effective in drying diluted carb.nate calcium liquid suspensions and coarse porous alumina particles at an air velocity approximately 50% lower in comparison to drying in a conventional spouted b.d. The conventional spouted b.d performed b.tter at drying liquid skimmed milk as the mechanical agitation comb.ned with the axial inlet air flow is not effective in mitigating sticking and powder agglomeration in the b.d when handling pastes of complex composition. Introducing mechanical agitation in the designed setup b.oadens the operating range of a conventional spouted b.d with axial air flow in the inlet.
