Linking sedimentary provenance,climate and tectonics in the Neoproterozoic SeridóBelt,Borborema Province(NE Brazil)

The SeridóBelt,at the extreme northeast of Brazil,is one of the several Neoproterozoic mobile belts related to the Brasiliano/Pan-African Orogeny in Western *** lithostratigraphy of the SeridóBelt comprises basal quartzites and metaconglomerates(Equador Formation)overlain by hornblende-bearing paragneisses,calc-silicate rocks and marbles(Jucurutu Formation)and biotiteschists(SeridóFormation).We investigated the sedimentary provenance of these rocks based on an integration of compiled whole-rock geochemistry,Sm-Nd isotopes,U-Pb detrital zircon ages and a new set of whole-rock trace elements *** Formation quartzites have major and trace elements patterns that resemble cratonic sandstones,with a typical felsic provenance consistent with the isotopic composition of plutonic Archean to Paleoproterozoic basement *** proxies suggest that these rocks were deposited in fresh waters under anoxic conditions and moderate to intense weathering conditions(cIA=58–79).A shift in provenance led to an increase in intermediate-mafic sources during the deposition of the Jucurutu and Seridó*** elements from rock types in these units are nearly identical,yet they differ on the contents of some high field-strength elements(e.g.,Sc,V and Ni),which are higher in the SeridóFormation than average *** proxies show similar depositional environments,with brackish to marine conditions for the Jucurutu and Seridóformations under anoxic to euxinic *** conditions are consistently lower in the Jucurutu Formation(cIA=58–66)in comparison with the SeridóFormation(cIA=60–88).compiled U-Pb data suggest maximum depositional ages of 633±11 Ma and 633±6 Ma for Jucurutu and Seridóformations,respectively,suggesting deposition following the ca.645–635 Ma Marinoan *** compared the geochemistry of the SeridóFormation schists with currently exposed basement rocks and showed a strong affinity with Neoproterozoic arc-related

Arroyo Verde epithermal deposit,in the North Patagonia region of Argentina,is located within the Lower chon Aike volcanism and is developed between 192.6±2.5 Ma(mineralization host rock)and 189.5±2.6 Ma(overlying lava).Marifil volcanic complex is the host rock for these veins,veinlets and *** particular small deposit has developed low to intermediate sulphidation characteristics,with gangue mineral textures associated with several ore *** probe microanalysis determines electrum,silver minerals such as acanthite,and tetrahedrite,related Ag-cu minerals like jalpaite,mckinstryite,stromeyerite,and base metals like chalcopyrite,sphalerite,galena and *** inclusions in quartz of two out of five events indicate that these Low Jurassic veins were formed due to subtle boiling and dilution mechanisms and by low-salinity(3.4 wt.%to 6.7 wt.%Nacl Eq)magmatic-hydrothermal fluid at 225 to 310℃.The fluid inclusion measurements that indicate boiling(Event 3)were plotted,and based on this data,we interpret that the Arroyo Verde deposit has been eroded between 550 and 700 *** particular character has not been previously recorded for other sectors of the eastern north Patagonian region.

Mandibular advancement devices(MADs)are widely used treatments for obstructive sleep *** function by advancing the lower jaw to open the upper *** increase patient comfort,most patients allow the mouth to be ***,not all systems maintain the lower jaw in a forward position during mouth opening,which results in the production of a retrusion that favors the collapse of the upper ***,the kinematic behavior of the mechanism formed by the mandible-device assembly depends on jaw *** means that,during mouth opening,some devices cause lower jaw protrusion in some patients,but cause its retraction in *** this study,we report the behavior of well-known devices currently on *** do so,we developed a kinematic model of the lower jawdevice *** validated for all devices analyzed using a high-resolution camera *** results show that some of the devices analyzed here did not produce the correct behavior during patient mouth opening.

Plant-available water capacity of soils at a regional scale:Analysis of fixed and dynamic field capacities

Estimation of the plant-available water capacity(PAWc)of soils at a regional scale helps in adopting better land use planning,developing suitable irrigation schedules for crops,and optimizing the use of scarce water *** the current study,72 soil profiles were sampled from the Barossa region of South Australia to estimate pedo-transfer functions deduced from easily estimated soil *** functions were then used to estimate the fixed(10 and 33 kPa)and dynamic pressure head(h_(fc))water contents at field capacity(Fc)for minimum drainage flux(0.01 and 0.001 cm d^(-1)),which serves as the upper boundary for plant-available water in *** estimated residual water content was corrected for subsoil constraints,especially the exchangeable sodium percentage(ESP).The results showed that the mean values of h_(fc)in sand-dominated light and medium textured soils(i.e.,sand,loamy sand,sandy loam,and loam)varied in a narrow range(15.8-18.2 kPa),whereas those in the clay-dominated heavy textured soils(i.e.,clay loam)showed a wide range(11.3-49.3 kPa).There were large differences in PAWc for dynamic Fc(PAWc_(fc))and fixed Fc at 10 kPa(PAWc10),33 kPa(PAWc33),and a mix of 10and 33 kPa(PAWc_(10,33))pressure heads depending on soil ***,the difference between PAWc at 10 kPa and h_(fc)(ΔPAWc_(10))was positive,whereas that between 33 kPa and h_(fc)(ΔPAWc_(33))was negative across all ***,the estimation of PAWc assuming a fixed Fc at 10 and 33 kPa pressures(i.e.,PAWc_(10,33))for sandy,clay,and silty soils reduced the difference between fixed and dynamic pressure PAWcs tocross the *** estimation of PAWc was improved by incorporating the impact of subsoil constraints,such as high ESP,which was more pronounced for clay and silty *** findings demonstrate the inherent inconsistencies between static pressure and flux-based dynamic Fc estimations in *** heterogeneity,intra-texture variability,subsoil constraints,and swell

Advancements in autoimmune hepatitis management:Perspectives for future guidelines

The first-line treatment for autoimmune hepatitis involves the use of prednisone or prednisolone either as monotherapy or in combination with azathioprine(AZA).Budesonide has shown promise in inducing a complete biochemical response(cBR)with fewer adverse effects and is considered an optional first-line treatment,particularly for patients without cirrhosis;however,it is worth noting that the design of that study favored budesonide.A recent real-life study revealed higher cBR rates with prednisone when equivalent initial doses were *** guidelines recommend mycophenolate mofetil(MMF)for patients who are intolerant to *** is important to mention that the evidence supporting this recommendation is weak,primarily consisting of case ***,MMF has demonstrated superiority to AZA in the context of renal *** comparative studies have shown higher cBR rates,lower therapeutic failure rates,and reduced intolerance in the MMF *** findings may influence future guidelines,potentially leading to a significant modification in the first-line treatment of autoimmune *** recently,the only alternative to corticosteroids was lifelong maintenance treatment with AZA,which comes with notable risks,such as skin cancer and *** trials are essential for a more comprehensive assessment of treatment suspension strategies,whether relying on histological criteria,strict biochemical criteria,or a combination of ***-center studies using chloroquine diphosphate have shown promising results in significantly reducing relapse rates compared to ***,these interesting findings have yet to be replicated by other research ***,second-line drugs,such as tacrolimus,rituximab,and infliximab,should be subjected to controlled trials for further evaluation.

complexed amino acid minerals vs. bis-glycinate chelated minerals:Impact on the performance of old laying hens

The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace minerals(Zn, Mn, and cu) from complexed amino acid minerals(ZMcAA) and bis-glycinate chelated minerals(ZMcGly) in laying hen diets on performance,internal and external egg quality, yolk mineral deposition, intestinal morphometry, and bone characteristics. From 78 to 98 weeks of age, 400 White LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a randomized design with 4 treatments with 10 replicates per treatment. Treatments were distributed in a 2 ×2 factorial arrangement using either Zn, Mn, and cu of ZMcAA or ZMcGly source at 2 levels: low(20, 20,and 3.5 mg/kg of Zn, Mn, and cu, respectively) or high(40, 40, and 7 mg/kg of Zn, Mn, and cu,respectively). The analysis of variance was performed, and in cases where differences were observed, the means were compared using Tukey?s test(P ce and level of trace mineral supplementation had a significant impact on the performance of laying hens. Hens fed ZMcAA had higher egg production(P = 0.01), egg weight(P = 0.02), egg mass(P = 0.01), and lower feed conversion ratio(P =0.05) compared to those fed ZMcGly. The ZMcAA supplementation showed higher albumen height(P =0.01), albumen weight(P = 0.01), and eggshell thickness(P cu(P ceived ZMcAA. Tibia weight(P = 0.04)and bone densitometry(P cAA supplementation. In the small intestine, ZMcAA resulted in longer villi(P = 0.02) and shorter crypt depth(P = 0.01) in the *** and ileum measurements were influenced by the level and source of trace minerals(P cAA exhibited superior performance, egg quality, deposition of trace minerals in the egg yolk, and bone density compared to hens fed ZMcGly. In this study, older laying hens supplemented with ZMcAA at lower levels demonstrated adequate levels of supplementation.

Black soils, characterized by their thick, dark horizons enriched with organic matter, epitomize highly fertile soils. However, their fertility precipitates intense land use, engendering challenges such as soil erosion, nutrient depletion, pollution, compaction, salinization, and acidification. Notably, these soils are significant contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions, primarily due to substantial losses in soil organic carbon. Despite these challenges, black soils are pivotal for global food production. This paper delineates the implementation of digital soil mapping for the global cartography of black soils and human interference on these soils. Predominantly distributed in Eastern Europe, central and Eastern Asia, and North and South America, black soils cover an approximate area of 725 Mha, with the Russian Federation,Kazakhstan, and china collectively have over half of this area. Agriculturally,these soils underpin significant proportions of global crop yields, producing 66% of sunflower, 30% of wheat, and 26% of potato outputs. The organic carbon content in the upper 30 cm of these soils is estimated at 56 *** management of black soils is imperative for ensuring food security and addressing climate change on a global scale.
