perovskite LaCoO_(3) is being increasingly explored as an effective low-cost electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Sr doping in LaCoO_(3)(La1-xSrxCoO_(3))has been found to substantially increase its catalytic *** this work,we report a detailed study on the evolution of the electronic structure of La1-xSrxCoO_(3) with 0≤x≤1 and its correlation with electrocatalytic activity for the OER.A combination of X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS)and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)was used to unravel the electronic density of states(DOS)near the Fermi level(EF),which provide insights into the key electronic structure features for the enhanced OER catalytic *** analysis on the Co L-edge XAS suggest that LaCoO_(3) has a low spin state with t_(2g)^(6) e_(g)^(0) configuration at room *** implies that the high OER catalytic activity of LaCoO_(3) should not be rationalized by the occupancy of eg=1 *** Sr^(2+) for La^(3+) in LaCoO_(3) induces Co4+oxidation states and effectively dopes hole states into the top of valence band.A semiconductor-to-metal transition is observed for x>0.2,due to the holeinduced electronic DOS at the EF and increased hybridization between Co 3 d and O 2 *** an electronic modulation enhances the surface adsorption of the*OH intermediate and reduces the energy barrier for interfacial charge transfer,thus improving the OER catalytic activity in La_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3).In addition,we found that the La_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3) surface undergoes amorphization after certain period of OER measurement,leading to a partial deactivation of the *** Sr doping levels accelerated the amorphization process.

Colonoscopy is a crucial diagnostic instrument for colorectal cancer screening and an adequate bowel preparation is definitely decisive for the success of the procedure. Especially in elderly patients, bowel cleansing is considered a big issue, because it is often poorly tolerated for many reasons(like inability to swallow large volume of liquids or unlikable taste); this can cause a suboptimal preparation that may lead to miss a neoplastic lesion. There is relatively little data about how to improve preparation tolerability. The purpose of our pilot study was to analyze the effect of prucalopride(Resolor~?), a highly selective serotonin 5HT4 receptor agonist used for chronic constipation for its ability to stimulate gastrointestinal peristalsis, undertaken the day before colonoscopy, followed by half volume of polyethylene glycol solution. We found that this can be a good and safe method to achieve an adequate and better-tolerated colon cleansing.

Objective: To evaluate the antioxidant activity of the essential oil obtained from Rosmarinus officinalis(R. officinalis) in ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model in ***: The antioxidant properties of the essential oil obtained from R. officinalis were evaluated against gastric injury induced by absolute ethanol. Gastric tissues were prepared to enzymatic assays. The levels of glutathione, lipid peroxides, and the activities of glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and myeloperoxidase were ***: Ethanol produced severe hemorrhagic lesions in the stomach with ulcerative lesion of(140.2 ± 37.2) mm2. In animals pretreated with essential oil of R. officinalis(50 mg/kg, p.o.), a significant inhibition of mucosal injury of(21.2 ± 7.1) mm2(84%inhibition) was observed. The essential oil of R. officinalis protected the gastric mucosa probably by modulating the activities of the enzymes(superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase) and increasing or maintaining the levels of glutathione. In addition,lipid peroxides levels were reduced. The essential oil of R. officinalis was analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometer and the main constituents were cineole(28.5%),camphor(27.7%) and alpha-pinene(21.3%).Conclusions: We suggest that the monoterpenes present in the essential oil obtained from R. officinalis may be among the active principles responsible for the antioxidant activity shown by essential oil of R. officinalis.

Opioids are the most effective painkillers,but their benefit-risk balance often hinder their therapeutic ***-73502 is a dual,bispecific compound that binds sigma-1(S1R)and mu-opioid(MOR)***-73502 is an antagonist at the *** behaved as a partial MOR agonist at the G-protein pathway and produced no/unsignificantβ-arrestin-2 recruitment,thus demonstrating low intrinsic efficacy on MOR at both signalling *** its partial MOR agonism,WLB-73502exerted full antinociceptive efficacy,with potency superior to morphine and similar to oxycodone against nociceptive,inflammatory and osteoarthritis pain,and superior to both morphine and oxycodone against neuropathic ***-73502 crosses the blood-brain barrier and binds brain S1R and MOR to an extent consistent with its antinociceptive *** to morphine and oxycodone,tolerance to its antinociceptive effect did not develop after repeated 4-week ***,contrary to opioid comparators,WLB-73502 did not inhibit gastrointestinal transit or respiratory function in rats at doses inducing full efficacy,and it was devoid of proemetic effect(retching and vomiting)in ferrets at potentially effective ***-73502 benefits from its bivalent S1R antagonist and partial MOR agonist nature to provide an improved antinociceptive and safety profile respect to strong opioid therapy.

The identifying of the preferred breeding sites of sand fly immature forms is quite important to the understanding of the vector’s biology and the development of more effective control strategies for leishmaniasis. In the present study, it was analyzed experimentally;the potential of dog feces of serving as breeding substrate to Lutzomyia longipalpis. Two situations were tested: 1) the life cycle of the insects from larvae to adults, 2) the whole cycle from adults to adults. Our results demonstrated for the first time that: 1) L. longipalpis can be easily bred in dog feces, suggesting that it could represent a potential raising substrate to immature forms for this species;2) L. longipalpis larvae are able to make galleries on a substrate, literally burying themselves in this to function also as a shelter;3) from the previous information that dogs infected with Ancylostoma caninum can present dodecanoic acid in their feces, we suggested that this substrate may be particularly more attractive to L. longipalpis females seen that this molecule is the same component of their oviposition pheromone, which is produced by the accessory glands and secreted onto the eggs;4) after the copulation the males may landing on the substrate and continued beating the wings intermittently until the death in a similar behavior also noticed in other situations associated to kairomones response or pheromone production. Therefore, we suggested that it is very likely that dog excrements could serve as an important breeding substrate for L. longipalpis in endemic areas of visceral leishmaniasis in the New World.
