Impact of microbial self-induced anaerobiosis fermentation(SIAF)on coffee quality

The fermentation of natural(NC)and pulped coffee(PC)was performed with a conventional method(platform)and under self-induced anaerobic fermentation(SIAF).Of the 12 samples analyzed during the fermentation process,the highest temperature was obtained by the SIAF method(30.5℃ for NC and 29.67℃ for PC)with 87 h of *** compounds(36 samples)were evaluated by high-performance liquid *** in the SIAF method contributed to the maximum amount of citric acid(2.534 mg/g)in pulped coffee and acetic acid(6.04 mg/g)and lactic acid(2.533 mg/g)in *** was the primary chemical class detected,followed by ketones and *** coffees(12 samples)were evaluated five times and classified as specialty coffees(>80 points)following Specialty Coffee Association(SCA)*** pulped coffee processed by the SIAF method showed a 2.83-point increase in the sensory score compared to the conventional ***,the SIAF method is accessible to producers,contributes to coffees with differentiated sensory profiles,and increases beverage quality.

Background The estimated prevalence of esophageal atresia(EA)is 1 in 2500–4500 live births(LBs).Researchers have already identified risk factors,but the mechanisms are still *** aim of this study is to identify EA prevalence trends and its risk factors in the São Paulo State(SPS)population *** We conducted a population-based study using all EA cases identified by the Live Births Information System across 14 years(2005–2018)to estimate EA prevalence trends in recent years,stratified by maternal age and SPS geographical *** calculated the prevalence trends,regression coefficient(β),annual percent change(APC),and 95%confidence interval(CI).Results We found 820 EA cases among 8,536,101 LBs with a prevalence of 1.0/10,000 LBs in SPS,*** was no significant difference in distribution by *** all the cases,the majority(65%)were Caucasian;51.8%were born at term;43%had weight of≥2500 g;95.4%were singleton;and 73.4%of births were by cesarean *** 2005 to 2018,there was an increasing trend of EA prevalence(APC=6.5%)with the highest APC of 12.2%.The highest EA prevalence rate(1.7/10,000 LB)was found in the group with maternal age of≥35 *** significant seasonal variation was found based on the conception month(p=0.061).Conclusions EA had an increasing prevalence trend in SPS,Brazil,in recent years,with the highest prevalence rate in the group with maternal age of≥35 *** seasonality was *** population-based study is the first to summarize the current epidemiology of EA in SPS LB.

Individual tree models(ITMs)are classified as growth and production models for projecting current and future forest *** are more complex than other growth and production models,show a higher level of detail and,consequently,produce a better modeling ***,the accuracy and efficiency of ITMs have not been properly assessed to *** this study,we estimated the growth in height,diameter,and individual tree volume of a Eucalyptus urophylla plantation by applying an *** used a continuing forest inventory dataset in which 1554 individual trees within 29 permanent plots were measured in the field over a 6-year period(24 to 72 months).Each individual tree volume was estimated for future tree *** achieve this,we adjusted the model to predict the height and diameter growth,and the probability of mortality as a function of the competition *** ITM accuracy was assessed based on the analysis of variance results and,subsequently,the multiple mean comparison test at the 5%significance *** tree volumes predicted by the ITM for the forest stand aged 72 months,beginning at ages 24,36,48,and 60 months,were compared to the field measured tree volume acquired from the 72-month forest inventory that was used as the reference *** and observed tree volumes were similar when the estimation was based on the 48-month forest *** results might help to reduce financial costs of forest inventory because the ITM produces accurate future predictions of forest stand *** estimated ITM for Eucalyptus plantations using measurement intervals up to 2 years is recommended because it significantly reduced the projected volume discrepancy compared to the field measurements.

BACKGROUND Despite the advent of biological drugs, conventional therapy continues to be used in moderate to severe inflammatory bowel disease(MS-IBD). This study hypothesized that as a standard of treatment and the primary alternative to biologics, conventional therapy should present robust effectiveness results in IBD *** To investigate the effectiveness of conventional therapy for *** A systematic review with no time limit was conducted in July 2017 through the Cochrane Collaboration, MEDLINE, and LILACS databases. The inclusion criteria encompassed meta-analyses, systematic reviews, randomized clinical trials, observational and case-control studies concerning conventional therapy in adult patients with MS-IBD, including Crohn's disease(CD) and ulcerative colitis(UC). Corticosteroids(prednisone, hydrocortisone, budesonide, prednisolone,dexamethasone), 5-aminosalicylic acid(5-ASA) derivatives(mesalazine and sulfasalazine) and immunosuppressants [azathioprine(AZA), methotrexate(MTX), mycophenolate, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, 6-mercaptopurine(6-MP)] were considered conventional therapy. The exclusion criteria were sample size below50; narrative reviews; specific subpopulations(e.g., pregnant women,comorbidities); studies on postoperative IBD; and languages other than English,Spanish, French or Portuguese. The primary outcome measures were clinical remission(induction or maintenance), clinical response and mucosal healing. As secondary outcomes, fecal calprotectin, hospitalization, death, and surgeries were analyzed. The mechanical properties of Ti−Cu alloys processed via thixoforming were ***−Cu(25,27,and 29 wt.%Cu)ingots were produced via arc melting,homogenization at 950℃ for 24 h,and hot-forging at 900℃,followed by thixoforming at a speed of 8 mm/s after isothermal heat treatment at 1035℃ for 300 *** thixoformed alloys exhibited good mechanical strength,limited plasticity under tensile loading,and reasonable plasticity under compressive *** mechanical strength and plasticity decreased as the Cu content increased as a result of the increasing volume fraction of the peritectic Ti_(2)Cu phase(transformed liquid),which exhibited a lower strength and plasticity than theα+Ti_(2)Cu regions(transformed solid).These findings indicated that the trade-off between the mechanical properties and semisolid processability is largely governed by the Cu content.

Factors That Influence the Choice of Dialysis Modality in the Elderly

This study aimed to identify the influencing factors on choice of dialysis modality in patients aged 60 years or more and the barriers and/or facilitators in the decision-making process. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted involving patients undergoing renal replacement therapy for at least three months. Of the 55 patients included, 35 (64%) were under medical care before starting dialysis. The majority of patients, 55% (30), reported being consulted regarding the type of dialysis they would like. The most chosen therapy was hemodialysis with physician indication being the most influencing factor on the choice of dialysis modality. Visual and mobility problems were those principally reported by the elderly participants. This study suggests the need for greater pre-dialysis participation by the multidisciplinary team and emphasizes the importance of patient involvement in the decision-making process.
