AIM:To investigate the effect of diazoxide administration on liver ischemia/reperfusion ***:Wistar male rats underwent partial liver ischemia performed by clamping the pedicle from the medium and left anterior lateral segments for 1 h under mechanical *** were divided into 3 groups:Control Group,rats submitted to liver manipulation,Saline Group,rats received saline,and Diazoxide Group,rats received intravenous injection diazoxide(3.5 mg/kg) 15 min before liver reperfusion.4 h and 24 h after reperfusion,blood was collected for determination of aspartate transaminase(AST),alanine transaminase(ALT),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-10(IL-10),nitrite/nitrate,creatinine and tumor growth factor-β1(TGF-β1).Liver tissues were assembled for mitochondrial oxidation and phosphorylation,malondialdehyde(MDA) content,and histologic *** vascular permeability and myeloperoxidase(MPO) were also ***:Four hours after reperfusion the diazoxide group presented with significant reduction of AST(2009 ± 257 U/L vs 3523 ± 424 U/L,P = 0.005); ALT(1794 ± 295 U/L vs 3316 ± 413 U/L,P = 0.005); TNF-α(17 ± 9 pg/mL vs 152 ± 43 pg/mL,P = 0.013; IL-6(62 ± 18 pg/mL vs 281 ± 92 pg/mL); IL-10(40 ± 9 pg/mL vs 78 ± 10 pg/mL P = 0.03),and nitrite/nitrate(3.8 ± 0.9 μmol/L vs 10.2 ± 2.4 μmol/L,P = 0.025) when compared to the saline group.A significant reduction in liver mitochondrial dysfunction was observed in the diazoxide group compared to the saline group(P < 0.05).No differences in liver MDA content,serum creatinine,pulmonary vascular permeability and MPO activity were observed between *** four hours after reperfusion the diazoxide group showed a reduction of AST(495 ± 78 U/L vs 978 ± 192 U/L,P = 0.032); ALT(335 ± 59 U/L vs 742 ± 182 U/L,P = 0.048),and TGF-β1(11 ± 1 ng/mL vs 17 ± 0.5 ng/mL,P = 0.004) serum levels when compared to the saline *** control group did not present alterations when compared to the

This research investigates the soil conditioning effect of sugar cane fields with biochar produced from sugarcane *** influence on the physicochemical and microbiological conditions of the soil and the agronomic performance of sugarcane seedlings was *** this end,the biochar from sugarcane bagasse was produced by pyrolysis in a double drum oven and mixed with soil at rates of 0,1%,3%,and 5%(in weight).The experiment was installed in a greenhouse with two evaluation periods(30 days and 60 days)and five *** pot received a pre-sprouted cane seedling,and the analysis of colony-forming units(bacteria and fungi),physicochemical characteristics of the soil,and growth and development of sugarcane were performed per *** biochar showed a high fixed carbon content(72%)and a specific surface area estimated by the adsorption of methylene blue of 50 m2 g−***,its structure is porous and contains important nutrients(e.g.,CaO,K2O,and P2O5).In the periods evaluated,the applications of the 3%and 5%(in weight)rates of biochar reduced most of the soil fertility ***,the chemical analyses indicated that the sugarcane field soil collected already possessed high *** microbiota was influenced,but only the application of the 3%(in weight)rate at 60 days after planting showed a significant positive effect on the number of bacteria forming units,with an increase of approximately 385%.On the other hand,no significant positive effect on sugarcane development was ***,biochar application in high-fertility sugarcane plantation soil did not result in gains for sugarcane development in the periods evaluated.

Fibromyalgia(FM) is a complex pathology described as persistent hyperalgesia including somatic and mood dysfunctions, depression and anxiety. Although the etiology of FM is still unknown, a significant decrease in biogenic amines is a common characteristic in its pathogenesis. Here, our main objective was to investigate the role of dopamine D3/D2 receptor during the reserpine-induced pain in mice. Our results showed that pramipexole(PPX) – a dopaminergic D3/D2 receptor agonist – inhibited mechanical allodynia and thermal sensitivity induced by reserpine. Relevantly, PPX treatment decreased immobility time and increased the number of grooming in the forced swimming test and splash test, respectively. Animals that received PPX remained longer in the open arms than the reserpine group using elevated plusmaze apparatus. The repeated PPX administration, given daily for 4 days, significantly blocked the mechanical and thermal allodynia during FM model, similarly to pregabalin, although it failed to affect the reserpine-induced thermal nociception. Reserpine administration induced significant downregulation of dopamine concentration in the central nervous system, and repeated treatment with PPX restored dopamine levels in the frontal cortex and spinal cord tissues. Moreover, PPX treatment inhibited oxidants production such as DCFH(2′,7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein) and nitrite, also decreased oxidative damage(carbonyl), and upregulated the activity of superoxide dismutase in the spinal cord. Together, our findings demonstrated the ability of dopamine D3/D2 receptor-preferring agonist in reducing pain and mood dysfunction allied to FM in mice. All experimental protocols were approved by the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina(UFSC) Ethics Committee(approval No. 2572210218) on May 10, 2018.

AIM:To evaluate the long-term results of liver resection for the treatment of primary intrahepatic *** factors,especially the impact of bilioenteric anastomosis on recurrence of symptoms were ***:Forty one patients with intrahepatic stones and parenchyma fibrosis/atrophy and/or biliary stenosis were submitted to liver *** was associated with a Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy in all patients with bilateral stones and in those with unilateral disease and dilation of the extrahepatic biliary duct(>2 cm).Late results and risk factors for recurrence of symptoms or stones were ***:There was no operative *** a mean follow-up of 50.3 mo,good late results were observed in 82.9% of patients;all patients submitted to liver resection alone and 58.8% of those submitted to liver resection and hepaticojejunostomy were free of symptoms(P=0.0006).Patients with unilateral and bilateral disease showed good late results in 94.1% and 28.6%,respectively(P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Recurrence of symptoms in patients with hepaticojejunostomy showed that this may not be the ideal *** studies are needed to establish the best treatment for patients with bilateral stones or unilateral disease and a dilated extrahepatic duct.

Sugarcane mosaic virus(SCMV)is the main etiological agent of sugarcane mosaic disease,which affects sugarcane and other grass *** the extensive characterization of quantitative trait loci controlling resistance to SCMV in maize,the genetic basis of this trait in sugarcane is largely ***,a genome-wide association study was performed and machine learning coupled with feature selection was used for genomic prediction of resistance to SCMV in a diverse sugarcane *** single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)explained up to 29.9%of the observed phenotypic variance and a 73-SNP set predicted resistance with high accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 scores(the harmonic mean of precision and recall).Both marker sets were validated in additional sugarcane genotypes,in which the SNPs explained up to 23.6%of the phenotypic variation and predicted resistance with a maximum accuracy of 69.1%.Synteny analyses suggested that the gene responsible for the majority of SCMV resistance in maize is absent in sugarcane,explaining why this major resistance source has not been identified in this ***,using sugarcane RNA-Seq data,markers associated with resistance to SCMV were annotated,and a gene coexpression network was constructed to identify the predicted biological processes involved in *** network allowed the identification of candidate resistance genes and confirmed the involvement of stress responses,photosynthesis,and the regulation of transcription and translation in resistance to *** results provide a practical marker-assisted breeding approach for sugarcane and identify target genes for future studies of SCMV resistance.
