Systematic review and meta-analysis of outcomes of anatomic repair in congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries

BACKgROUND Treatment of congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries(cc-TgA)with anatomic repair strategy has been considered superior due to restoration of the morphologic left ventricle in the systemic ***,data on long term outcomes are limited to single center reports and include small sample *** To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis for observational studies reporting outcomes on anatomic repair for *** MEDLINE and Scopus databases were queried using predefined criteria for reports published till December 31,*** reporting anatomic repair of minimum 5 cc-TgA patients with at least a 2 year follow up were *** was performed using Comprehensive meta-analysis v3.0 *** Eight hundred and ninety-five patients underwent anatomic repair with a pooled follow-up of 5457.2 patient-years(PY).Pooled estimate for operative mortality was 8.3%[95%confidence interval(CI):6.0%-11.4%].0.2%(CI:0.1%-0.4%)patients required mechanical circulatory support postoperatively and 1.7%(CI:1.1%-2.4%)developed post-operative atrioventricular block requiring a *** surviving initial surgery had a transplant free survival of 92.5%(CI:89.5%-95.4%)per 100 PY and a low rate of need for pacemaker(0.3/100 PY;CI:0.1-0.4).84.7%patients(CI:79.6%-89.9%)were found to be in New York Heart Association(NYHA)functional class I or II after 100 PY follow *** re-intervention rate was 5.3 per 100 PY(CI:3.8-6.8).CONCLUSION Operative mortality with anatomic repair strategy for cc-TgA is *** that,transplant free survival after anatomic repair for cc-TgA patients is highly *** of patients maintain NYHA I/II functional ***,monitoring for burden of re-interventions specific for operation type is very essential.

In steel continuous casting(CC),the choice of the appropriate speed at which the slab is cast can be influenced by many different factors and *** the slab thickness seems to have the biggest impact,other features like the slab width have been consistently *** fact,the slab width practically limits the casting speed via the mass flow constraint which governs the input and output balance at the ***,we present a case study that aims at analyzing steel production data from the perspective of casting speed *** studying the speed fluctuations of an industrial CC machine,we identify a strategic regime change toward a stricter consideration of the mass flow *** regime change manifests itself in a significant increase in the correlation between the actual casting speed and the maximal speed associated with the mass flow *** the surface,taking greater account of the input and output balance at the tundish has reduced the productivity of the continuous caster;however,one can argue that the lessened yield is compensated by a diminished risk of eventual slab *** the perspective of this trade-off,we establish a visualization technique that enables us to pinpoint the boundary beyond which one strategic regime becomes economically more advantageous than the other.

We introduce CURDIS,a template for algorithms to discretize arcs of regular curves by incrementally producing a list of support pixels covering the *** this template,algorithms proceed by finding the tangent quadrant at each point of the arc and determining which side the curve exits the pixel according to a tailored *** two elements can be adapted for any type of curve,leading to algorithms dedicated to the shape of specific *** the calculation of the tangent quadrant for various curves,such as lines,conics,or cubics,is simple,it is more complex to analyze how pixels are traversed by the *** the case of conic arcs,we found a criterion for determining the pixel exit *** leads us to present a new algorithm,called CURDIS-C,specific to the discretization of conics,for which we provide all the ***,the criterion for conics requires between one and three sign tests and four additions per pixel,making the algorithm efficient for resource-constrained systems and feasible for fixed-point or integer arithmetic *** algorithm also perfectly handles the pathological cases in which the conic intersects a pixel twice or changes quadrants multiple times within this pixel,achieving this generality at the cost of potentially computing up to two square roots per *** illustrate the use of CURDIS for the discretization of different curves,such as ellipses,hyperbolas,and parabolas,even when they degenerate into lines or corners.

A zoned embankment dam is founded on clay underlain by a sand *** seepage phenomena were noticed in the foundation downstream from the dam where the vertical seepage forces in the sand layer were expected to exceed the downward forces due to the overlying *** technologies were applied to delineate critical zones to help design optimal rehabilitation measures.A global electromagnetic survey was carried out to detect and map the main sources,pathways and exits of *** on these global findings,a more detailed analysis was then conducted to identify zones where thickness of the foundation clay is minimal,pore pressures in sand are higher and thus where the factor of safety against uplift is lower and internal erosion is more likely to *** thickness evaluation required the determination of land surface as well as clay-sand contact elevations.A laser airborne survey was performed to model the land surface *** concerning the clay-sand contact elevation came from the interpreted stratigraphy based on a series of boreholes and cone penetration *** data was combined in a geostatistical model along with the measured piezometric levels in the *** resulted in a contour map showing factors of safety against uplift over the entire downstream *** use of modern technologies,namely electromagnetic and laser surveys as well as geostatistical tools,was instrumental in defining the limits of an otherwise spread-out problem and to provide an optimal solution,in terms of costs and effectiveness,for the long-term stabilization of the foundation.

PDZ domain proteins in metazoans function in diverse roles, and in conjunction with PDZ domain-binding proteins form macromolecular complexes for signaling at synapses and cell junctions. Bioinformatics approaches using the SMART tool indicate there are only a modest number of Arabidopsis PDZ proteins. However, there are hundreds of proteins predicted to possess PDZ domain-binding motifs, suggesting that there are many PDZ domain proteins not detectable by conventional bioinformatic approaches. Our Scansite analysis of PDZ domain-binding proteins indicates that PDZ domain proteins may play key roles in cytoskeletal organization including actin microfilaments, microtubules, and nuclear cytoskeletal proteins, and in the organization of macromolecular complexes involved in cell-to-cell signaling, transport, and cell wall formation.
