Background:At this time of severe budgetary constraints and worldwide nursing shortages,the nursing profession is already facing challenges in keeping its professionals motivated to work during the COVID-19 *** study explores the factors influencing nurses’work motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic in Saudi *** s:A descriptive quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah al-Mukarramah,Saudi Arabia.A convenience sample of 184 nurses participated in the *** electronic self-administrative questionnaire in the English language was used to collect *** comprises two parts:demographic data and the Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale(MWMS)using a 7-point Likert *** of variance(ANOVA)and t-tests were utilized to identify the differences in MWMS scores among participants’***:The study found that the overall mean score for the MWMS scale accounted for M=81.32,SD=18.66,with the highest mean score reported for interjected regulation(M=20.19,SD=5.59).Moreover,the results revealed that 62%of the participants attained an average level on the overall *** addition,the ANOVA and t-test showed a significant overall effect of the duration of nurses’work experience,the unit of care,the number of working hours per week and salary on nurses’work motivation during COVID-19 at P<***:The study’s findings suggest that hospital administrators and nursing managers should pay careful attention to nurses’work motivation and related factors to increase nurses’quality performance,retention and satisfaction.

The Impact of Obesity on the Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction Using Echocardiography

Global left ventricle chamber function in obese patients is assessed, most commonly, by means of the ejection fraction. The preferred noninvasive modality for evaluating regional wall motion and overall ventricular performance is usually color-flow Doppler transthoracic echocardiography. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of left ventricular ejection fraction to body mass index (BMI) measure of obesity in obese patients by using echocardiography. A prospective cohort study was conducted in the period of July 2012 to September 2014 in the ultrasound department of the Sudan Heart Center in Khartoum-Sudan, among a group of 250 obese participants of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) (67.2% males and 32.8% females) and their ages range from 22 to 86 years;mean age of 41 ± 1.2 years. Echocardiography studies were performed using MyLab 50 XVision-Esaote echocardiography machine equipped with 2.5 MHz phased array probe. Standard Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the results. The mean BMI was 28.6 ± 5.4 kg/m2. Significant relationship is found between left ventricle ejection fraction and BMI (P < 0.001). BMI is a useful statistical tool to track the body size trends in a multicentric population in Sudan. Left ventricular ejection fraction allows ventricular function to be assessed without the need for further body size adjustment.

Assessment of nurses’workplace silence behaviour motives:A crosssectional study

Objectives:The motives that lead to nurses’workplace silence behaviour are essential to understand,as the failure to voice their concerns and maintain silence may cause various adverse outcomes,including burnout,turnover,job dissatisfaction,low productivity,and mental and moral *** study aimed to identify the level and influencing motives of the workplace silence behaviour among nurses at the National Guard Hospital in ***:A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted in January and February *** participants completed a questionnaire with two parts:the sociodemographic data form and the Workplace Silence Behavior Nursing Motives *** analysis was performed by descriptive statistics and the chi-square ***:The overall level for all workplace silence behavior motives is moderate(3.29±0.69),with Avoidance Motives dimension receiving the highest scores(3.62±0.75)and Organization-Oriented Motives dimension receiving the lowest(3.15±0.86).Chi-square test showed that Saudi nationality(X^(2)=0.015,P=0.019)and monthly income(X^(2)=0.045,P?0.013)are factors in high-moderate levels of silence ***:The overall level of workplace silence behaviour motives was found to be moderate,nurses have higher monthly salaries and non-Saudi nationals tend to have higher levels of workplace silence behaviour *** study results provide a reference for nursing managers to pay attention to nurses’workplace silence behavior and take corresponding intervention measures.
