background:Pain associated with cancer is one of the greatest causes of reduced quality of life in *** is one of the treatments used to address this issue,with the great advantage of having little or no side effects,especially when compared with pharmacological ***:The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the current evidence regarding the efficacy of acupuncture for cancer *** strategy:Six electronic databases(Pubmed,EbSCO,Cochrane Library,Scielo,b-On and Scopus)were searched for relevant articles about pain relief in cancer patients from their beginning until 2022using meSH terms such as“acupuncture,”“electroacupuncture,”“ear acupuncture,”“acupuncture analgesia,”“oncological pain,”and“cancer pain.”Inclusion criteria:Studies included were randomized controlled trials(RCTs)where acupuncture was compared with no treatment,placebo acupuncture or usual *** extraction and analysis:Three independent reviewers participated in data extraction and evaluation of risk of bias,and a meta-analysis was *** primary outcome was pain intensity,measured with the visual analog scale,numeric rating scale,or brief pain *** outcomes also assessed were quality of life,functionality,xerostomia,pain interference,and analgesic *** were expressed as standardized mean difference(SmD)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:Sixteen RCTs with a total of 1124 participants were included in the meta-analysis,with the majority of the studies presenting a low or unclear risk of *** was more effective in reducing pain than no treatment(SmD=–0.90,95%CI[–1.68,–0.12]),sham acupuncture(SmD=–1.10,95%CI[–1.59,–0.61])or usual care(SmD=–1.16,95%CI[–1.38,–0.93]).Conclusion:The results of this study suggest that acupuncture may be an effective intervention to reduce pain associated with *** some limitations due to the low quality and small sample size of some included st

The European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus is an exotic herbivorous mammal undergoing an active phase of geographical expansion in the arid ecosystems of *** Adaptive Flexibility Hypothesis states that populations at the range edge(new populations)will exhibit greater fexibility in the use of resources compared with populations located in the range core(older populations).The objective of this work was to compare the rabbit’s use of spatial and trophic resources in relation to the establishment time of their *** sampling was carried out for 2 years(2017 and 2018)in sites with different establishment times for rabbit *** sampling stratifed by type of habitat was applied using 115 fxed strip transects of 1,000 m2 laid out across the study *** rabbit signs were recorded in each transect,and environmental and anthropic variables were *** results show that the individuals from the range edge are more selective in the use of habitat than those from the range *** the microhabitat level,we observed a pattern in the particular components of habitat use by rabbits mainly linked to food availability and proximity to *** a trophic perspective,rabbits could show fexible adjustment to novel conditions and environments in the range *** variability in resource use by the European rabbit confrms its ecological fexibility,pivotal for their advance toward new environments in Argentina.

metastasis is the leading cause of cancer-related *** growth factor beta(TGF-β)signaling drives metastasis and is strongly enhanced during cancer ***,the use of on-target TGF-βsignaling inhibitors in the treatment of cancer patients remains unsuccessful,highlighting a gap in the understanding of TGF-βbiology that limits the establishment of efficient anti-metastatic ***,we show that TGF-βsignaling hyperactivation in breast cancer cells is required for metastasis and relies on increased small extracellular vesicle(sEV)*** sEV’s unique role,TGF-βsignaling levels induced by sEVs exceed the activity of matching concentrations of soluble ligand TGF-β.Further,genetic disruption of sEV secretion in highlymetastatic breast cancer cells impairs cancer cell aggressiveness by reducing TGF-βsignaling to nearly-normal ***,TGF-βsignaling activity in non-invasive breast cancer cells is inherently low,but can be amplified by sEVs,enabling invasion and metastasis of poorly-metastatic breast cancer *** the translational potential of inhibiting sEV trafficking in advanced breast cancers,treatment with dimethyl amiloride(DmA)decreases sEV secretion,TGF-βsignaling activity,and breast cancer progression in *** both the sEV trafficking and TGF-βsignaling by combining DmA and Sb431542 at suboptimal doses potentiated this effect,normalizing the TGF-βsignaling in primary tumors to potently reduce circulating tumor cells,metastasis,and tumor ***,this study establishes sEVs as critical elements in TGF-βbiology,demonstrating the feasibility of inhibiting sEV trafficking as a new therapeutic approach to impair metastasis by normalizing TGF-βsignaling levels in breast cancer cells.

With the increased interest of plants in space, gravity cannot be ignored when studying soil-plant-water relations. Therefore, it is important to understand the water relations of soils under zero gravity in space or under reduced gravity on the moon or mars. This paper outlines the problems of moving water in soils under zero gravity or microgravity, as well as growing plants in these soils. It is suggested that microgravity experiments could be done on Earth using both soils and plants. Results from such experiments could be used to grow plants when mankind establishes bases on the moon and mars.

We apply stochastic seismic inversion and bayesian facies classification for porosity modeling and igneous rock identification in the presalt interval of the Santos basin. This integration of seismic and well-derived information enhances reservoir characterization. Stochastic inversion and bayesian classification are powerful tools because they permit addressing the uncertainties in the model. We used the ES-mDA algorithm to achieve the realizations equivalent to the percentiles P10, P50, and P90 of acoustic impedance, a novel method for acoustic inversion in presalt. The facies were divided into five: reservoir 1,reservoir 2, tight carbonates, clayey rocks, and igneous rocks. To deal with the overlaps in acoustic impedance values of facies, we included geological information using a priori probability, indicating that structural highs are reservoir-dominated. To illustrate our approach, we conducted porosity modeling using facies-related rock-physics models for rock-physics inversion in an area with a well drilled in a coquina bank and evaluated the thickness and extension of an igneous intrusion near the carbonate-salt interface. The modeled porosity and the classified seismic facies are in good agreement with the ones observed in the wells. Notably, the coquinas bank presents an improvement in the porosity towards the top. The a priori probability model was crucial for limiting the clayey rocks to the structural lows. In Well b, the hit rate of the igneous rock in the three scenarios is higher than 60%, showing an excellent thickness-prediction capability.
