Background:Even though the use of nerve monitoring during parotid gland surgery is not the gold standard to prevent damage to the nerve,it surely offers some advantages over the traditional *** from thyroid surgery,where a series of steps in intraoperative nerve monitoring have been described to confirm not only the integrity but—most importantly—the function of the recurrent laryngeal nerve,in parotid gland surgery,a formal guideline to follow while dissecting the facial nerve has yet to be ***:A five‐year retrospective study was done reviewing the intraoperative records of patients who underwent parotid gland surgery under neural *** operative findings regarding the neuromonitoring process,particularly in regard to the amplitude of two main branches,were revised.A literature search was done to search for guidelines to follow when a facial nerve loss of signal is ***:fifty‐five patients were operated on using the Nim 3 Nerve Monitoring System(Medtronic);31 were female patients,and 47 patients had benign *** changes were observed in the amplitude records after a comparison was made between the first and the last *** were only three articles discussing the term loss of signal during parotid gland ***:Today,no sufficient attention has been given to the facial nerve monitoring process during *** study proposes a formal guideline to follow during this procedure as well as an instruction to consider when a loss of signal is observed to develop a uniform technique of facial nerve stimulation.

Evaluation of Mandibular Deprogramming Using TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) in Patients at the Specialty Clinic of the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco from 2022 to 2024

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) negatively affect quality of life, causing pain and restricted jaw movements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on TMD patients before orthodontic treatment at the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco. A quantitative, quasi-experimental study was conducted with 30 patients who met the inclusion criteria: aged 18 to 65 years, with TMJ pain symptoms, diagnosed with temporomandibular disorders using the Helkimo index, and who had provided informed consent for the study. The range of mandibular movement and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) were measured to record values before therapy. The electrodes of the TENS therapy were positioned on both sides of the jaw in the preauricular area and the masseter muscle, the therapy was administered for 40 minutes, utilizing a frequency of 2 - 4 Hz and a pulse duration of 300 microseconds. following this, the range of mandibular movement and the VAS were reassessed to evaluate the outcomes., significantly improved maximum mouth opening (37.7 ± 6.4 mm to 44.6 ± 5.88 mm), right laterality (3.86 ± 1.57 mm to 5.43 ± 1.21 mm), left laterality (3.13 ± 1.63 mm to 4.53 ± 1.61 mm), protrusion (4.01 ± 1.7 mm to 5.36 ± 1.32 mm), and pain perception (4.56 ± 2.045 to 2.03 ± 1.5) (P for TMD.

Quantifying the relative importance of direct and indirect effects influencing bird nestling growth

Nestling growth parameters are integral components of avian life-history strategies as they are crucial determinants of individual *** many factors impact on nestling growth,the relative contribution of each one is still debated in the *** studies rely on the assumption that each factor directly affects nestling growth,but indirect effects mediated by other factors are usually the rule in *** this study,we present a comprehensive view of both direct and indirect factors affecting nestling growth using the Red-crested Cardinal(Paroaria coronata)as model *** evaluated the relative importance of different habitat(forest structure),biotic interactions(botfly larvae ectoparasitism,number of siblings,hatching order),and temporal factors(time of breeding)on nestling growth parameters in 278 nestlings of 128 nests by using piecewise structural equation *** found that botfly ectoparasitism had the strongest direct effect on nestling growth and,in turn,forest structure increased the probability of botfly ***,the interaction between the number of siblings and hatching order influenced nestling growth,indicating that the first and second nestlings had disproportionately higher growth rates in large than in small *** of breeding also showed a strong positive indirect effect on botfly occurrence,as well as a weak direct positive effect on nestling *** results demonstrate that,under natural conditions,nestling growth is driven by different factors acting not only directly,but also indirectly on this essential life history trait,and that these factors weave a complex web of interrelated variables.

Acute decompensated heart failure(Hf)is the most common cause of hospital ad-mission in patients older than 65 *** length of hospital stay is about 5-6 days and with a frequent number of hospital readmission rates of 25%to 50%at 30 days and 6-12 months,respect-ively.[1]Treatment options are vast and depend on certain patient characteristics,including hemody-namics,which drive the acute management.A pop-ular modality to assess hemodynamics in acute Hf is the right heart catheterization(RHC).While in-vasive,the use of RHC gives providers the oppor-tunity to evaluate values that directly contribute to the management of the *** numbers can calculate the cardiac output as well as help establish the underlying etiology of the patient’s symptoms and guide therapy.

The Catalogue of Life,created by Species 2000 and the Integrated Taxonomic Information System,has the ambitious aim of creating a uniform and validated index of the world’s known species for use as a practical tool in inventorying and monitoring biodiversity *** is achieved by accessing an array of taxonomic databases created and made available by individual,project and institutional custodians through taxonomic and biodiversity initiatives.A standard data set is delivered for every known species,drawn from Species 2000 contributing *** are provided to the Species 2000 Philippine office,compiled annually and published in CD-ROM *** 2000 also includes the Species Locator Service,which gives a responsible opinion as to the actual species currently recognized by taxonomists and their accepted names,and the Name Service that assists users in checking the spelling and original publication details for a wider range of names,including species not yet incorporated in the Species Locator *** Species Locator Service is available as the Dynamic Checklist,which is used to search for the scientific name of an organism online,and the Annual Checklist,which is a stable index produced once a year and is available on CD-ROM and *** of Life currently covers more than 272000 species and 32000 infraspecies,with 181000 *** has 217000 common names,87000 references and 20 contributing databases that encompass all known animals,plants,fungi and microorganisms.

Linking the hierarchical decision- making process of fruit choice and the phenotypic selection strength on fruit traits by birds

Globally,tourism has been growing annually despite more threats of terrorist *** the same way,educational tourism and schools that teach Spanish as a foreign language,which belong to this type of tourism,have benefited to this global phenomenon,at least this trend is noticeable in the Spanish schools that are in ***,there is no academic or governmental study to know if the same has happened with the Spanish schools located in Ecuador,a developing country situated in South America,whose particularity has a dollarized ***,the present study aims to analyze the situation of Spanish schools in that ***:The study selected was the exploratory due to the lack of information on this *** addition,the approach adopted is the qualitative,to be able to have a better understanding of the phenomenon studied,using interviews with semi-structured questions to the eight institutions that make up the Ecuadorian Association of Teaching Spanish *** and conclusions:Spanish schools in Ecuador have not grown as other countries,because they have several ***,they have an unfair competition,especially by hostels which provide this service ***,it is due to the higher costs compared to neighboring countries,because Ecuador adopted a strong currency for its ***,idiomatic schools are in the middle of education and tourism,so they have complications in getting licenses and aids granted by the *** these difficulties,they have innovated by offering more services,both educational and touristic,though,it is not a great profitable ***,they have been able to maintain their business and earn a market share internationally.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)for forest monitoring has grown significantly in recent years,providing information with high spatial resolution and temporal *** with multispectral sensors allow the use of indexes such as the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),which determines the vigor,physiological stress and photo synthetic activity of *** study aimed to analyze the spectral responses and variations of NDVI in tree crowns,as well as their correlation with climatic factors over the course of one *** study area encompassed a 1.6-ha site in Durango,Mexico,where Pinus cembroides,Pinus engelmannii,and Quercus grisea *** images were acquired with UAV and information on meteorological variables was obtained from NASA/POWER *** ANOVA explored possible differences in NDVI among the three *** correlation was performed to identify the linear relationship between NDVI and meteorological *** differences in NDVI values were found at the genus level(Pinus and Quercus),possibly related to the physiological features of the species and their *** grisea had the lowest NDVI values throughout the year which may be attributed to its sensitivity to relative humidity and *** the use of UAV with a multispectral sensor for NDVI monitoring allowed genera differentiation,in more complex forest analyses hyperspectral and LiDAR sensors should be integrated,as well other vegetation indexes be considered.
