Biliary complications are signifi cant causes of morbidity and mortality after orthotopic liver transplantation (oLT). The estimated incidence of biliary complications after oLT ranges between 10%-25%,however,these numbers continue to decline due to improvement in surgical techniques. The most common biliary complications are strictures (both anastomotic and non-anastomotic) and bile leaks. Most of these problems can be appropriately managed with endoscopic retrograde colangiography (ERC). other complications such as bile duct stones,bile casts,sphincter of oddi dysfunction,and hemobilia,are less frequent and also can be managed with ERC. This article will review the risk factors,diagnosis,and endoscopic management of the most common biliary complications after oLT.

端粒在基因组稳定、细胞核结构以及减数分裂中染色体配对中发挥关键作用。细胞每分裂一次,端粒会缩短,缩短的端粒可能再延长或不延长,这取决于细胞内是否存在一种专用酶-端粒酶。由于人体的多数体细胞并不表达端粒酶,因此发育和衰老过程中端粒必然缩短。在生理条件下,端粒缩短与延长的细胞增殖相矛盾,因此端粒长度决定了细胞的增殖潜能,并作为细胞无限生长的预防机制。相反,在细胞增殖检查点受破坏的细胞中,缩短的端粒可导致染色体融合并启动断裂-融合-桥周期,这极大地促发了基因组不稳定。在体外研究中,转化细胞中由于端粒严重缩短造成的基因组高度不稳定,在这种细胞种蓄积了有害的遗传改变,从而导致细胞最终死亡(危象)。同时,随机的遗传或拟遗传学改变可使细胞获得端粒维持机制(以及其它肿瘤表型),从而成为永生细胞。在体内研究中,尽管在早期肿瘤细胞中发现端粒缩短和其它形式的端粒功能障碍可能使基因组不稳定,但端粒功能障碍对于人类肿瘤表型的直接作用有待进一步研究。

This work focuses on the changes of raw hydroxyapatite obtained from porcine bones during heat treatment with heating rates of 2.5 and 5.0 °C/min between 600 °C and 1100 °C. High-Resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM) images showed that raw hydroxyapatite was formed by high-ordered nanometric platelet crystals with a length of around 18 nm and width around 7 nm. High-Resolution scanning electron microscopy(HR-SEM) images evidenced the coalescence phenomena during heating giving. It was found that the growth of the crystals and the transition from nano to a micro-size occurred at around 700 °C. And the changes in the full width at half maximum(FWHM) for the characteristic(002) plane of the X-ray diffraction patterns and the FWHM of the characteristic Raman band at 960 cm-1 for ν1 Po43-exhibited the transition from nano to a micro size, that was confirmed by HR-SEM images and the thermogravimetric(TG) analysis. The porosity of the BIoHAp changes from intra nanometric to intercrystalline.

Biogenic hydroxyapatites from mammalian bones naturally contain traces of ions, like Mg, which play a vital role in the bone remodeling process. In this way, synthetic hydroxyapatites should include this kind of mineral. In this work, hydroxyapatite added with Mg was synthesized by wet precipitation using（NH;）H;Po;, Ca（No;）;.4 H;o,and Mg（No;）;.6 H;o（0, 0.032, 0.061, and 0.123 M）. Inductively coupled plasma and X-ray diffraction evidenced the Mg inclusion in the hydroxyapatite lattice in the same levels reported for natural hydroxyapatites. The calcination at 600℃ was performed to remove the reaction by-products, but it also gave rise to physicochemical changes as the coalescence and crystals recrystallization. It produced, in turn, an improvement in the crystalline quality, according to Raman analysis. Despite those physicochemical changes, all the samples remained nanometric according to scanning electron microscopy imaging.

Background:Even though the use of nerve monitoring during parotid gland surgery is not the gold standard to prevent damage to the nerve,it surely offers some advantages over the traditional *** from thyroid surgery,where a series of steps in intraoperative nerve monitoring have been described to confirm not only the integrity but—most importantly—the function of the recurrent laryngeal nerve,in parotid gland surgery,a formal guideline to follow while dissecting the facial nerve has yet to be ***:A five‐year retrospective study was done reviewing the intraoperative records of patients who underwent parotid gland surgery under neural *** operative findings regarding the neuromonitoring process,particularly in regard to the amplitude of two main branches,were revised.A literature search was done to search for guidelines to follow when a facial nerve loss of signal is ***:Fifty‐five patients were operated on using the Nim 3 Nerve Monitoring System(Medtronic);31 were female patients,and 47 patients had benign *** changes were observed in the amplitude records after a comparison was made between the first and the last *** were only three articles discussing the term loss of signal during parotid gland ***:Today,no sufficient attention has been given to the facial nerve monitoring process during *** study proposes a formal guideline to follow during this procedure as well as an instruction to consider when a loss of signal is observed to develop a uniform technique of facial nerve stimulation.

Use of Mexican Propolis for the Topical Treatment of Dermatomycosis in Horses

Five horses with lesions compatible with dermatomycosis were selected and skin scrapings were taken from all affected areas. Samples were then treated with 10% KoH and observed by direct microscopic examination;fungal cultures using Mycobiotic Agar and Borelli Agar were also preformed;Trichophyton mentagrophytes was identified in two cases, whereas Candida albicans was identified in the other three. Skin lesions in cases 1 and 2 were treated topically with ketoconazol ointment, while in the remaining cases a weekly bath with propolis-based shampoo and application of propolis-based ointment on the lesions 2 to 3 times a week were implemented. Treatment in all cases lasted 4 weeks. Pictures were taken before and after treatment and, making use of the Image Pro-Express® software, therapy efficacy was determined by measurement of lesion area diameter and a significant reduction in lesion size was observed by the end of the 4 weeks of treatment with ketoconazole and propolis-based products. Thus proving the effectiveness of such propolis-based products, making them a natural therapeutic alternative for the treatment of cutaneous mycoses in horses, and carrying none of the toxic side effects of conventional pharmaceuticals.

Dissolved gas analysis is the most widely used diagnostic test in power transformers. The aim of this paper is to introduce the dissolved gas analysis (DGA) methods able to diagnose the transformer conditions. The faults cause the transformer oil, pressboard, and other insulating materials to decompose and generate gases, some of which dissolve in the oil. The results of DGA must be accurate if faults are to be diagnosed reliably. There are different established methods used in industry for interpreting DGA results. We will compare the result of IEEE Key Gas Methods and Rogers’ Ratios. The transformer conditions are evaluated by the Key Gas Method with total combustible gas method (TCGM) and then verified by the Rogers’ Ratios. As result, the aging pattern and trend of the power transformer deterioration can be determined. The 30 sample data from IEEE with known faults and dissolved gas concentrations were used as the basis of comparison.
