Background:The administration of certain cannabinoids provides neuroprotection in models of neurodegenerative diseases by acting through various cellular and molecular *** cannabinoid actions in the nervous system are mediated by CB1 receptors,which can elicit psychotropic effects,but other targets devoid of psychotropic activity,including CB2 and nuclear PPARγreceptors,can also be the target of specific ***:We investigated the pro-neurogenic potential of the synthetic cannabigerol derivative,VCE-003.2,in striatal neurodegeneration by using adeno-associated viral expression of mutant huntingtin in vivo and mouse embryonic stem cell differentiation in ***:Oral administration of VCE-003.2 protected striatal medium spiny neurons from mutant huntingtin-induced damage,attenuated neuroinflammation and improved motor ***-003.2 bioavailability was characterized and the potential undesired side effects were evaluated by analyzing hepatotoxicity after chronic ***-003.2 promoted subventricular zone progenitor mobilization,increased doublecortin-positive migrating neuroblasts towards the injured area,and enhanced effective ***,we demonstrated the proneurogenic activity of VCE-003.2 in embryonic stem ***-003.2 was able to increase neuroblast formation and striatal-like CTIP2-mediated ***:The cannabigerol derivative VCE-003.2 improves subventricular zone-derived neurogenesis in response to mutant huntingtin-induced neurodegeneration,and is neuroprotective by oral administration.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of Beauveria bassiana(Bb 1205)on controlling Fusarium oxysporum ***(Fol 17108)in tomato plants in greenhouse *** of Bb 1205 was the most promising among the agronomic variables and expression of the activity of the enzymesβ-1,3-glucanases and *** of Bb 1205 occurred at a concentration of 1×108 conidia·mL−1,which was administered onto the leaves,directly into the soil and via *** with Fol 17108 occurred with 1×106 spores·mL−1,which were added directly to the *** was used for measuring agronomic parameters,namely activity of chitinases andβ-1,3-glucanases in foliage and *** Bb 1205 was added to the soil,the chlorophyll index and aerial part length showed significant *** addition,it was determined that root length,fresh weight of foliage,flower,and fruit count increased 82 days after inoculation(dai).Chitinase activity induced by Bb 1205 in leaves and roots of tomato plants infected with Fol 17108 was observed when injected into the stem at 32 dai(41.8 and 11.6-fold,respectively).Inoculation on the foliage showed a 10-fold increase ofβ-1,3-glucanases in the roots after 82 *** for leaves,a 3.8-fold increase was found when the stem was *** the different in vivo applications,Bb 1205 activated its defenses by expressing the chitinase enzymes andβ-1,3-glucanase,thus reducing the damage caused by Fol 17108,demonstrating increase plant growth thereafter.

This study quantifies seismic amplifications in near-shore arising from seaquakes. Within the Boundary Element Method, boundary elements are used to irradiate waves and force densities obtained for each element. Huygens′ Principle is implemented since the diffracted waves are constructed at the boundary from which they are radiated, which is equivalent to Somigliana′s theorem. Application of boundary conditions leads to a system of integral equations of the Fredholm type of second kind and zero order. Several numerical configurations are analyzed： The first is used to verify the present formulation with ideal sea floor configurations to estimate seismic amplifications. With the formulation verified, simple slope configurations are studied to estimate spectra of seismic motions. It is found that P-waves can produce seismic amplifications from 1.2 to 3.9 times the amplitude of the incident wave. SV-waves can generate seismic amplifications up to 4.5 times the incident wave. Another relevant finding is that the highest amplifications are at the shore compared to the ones at the sea floor.

Lizards have been reported as important pollinators on several oceanic *** we evaluate the potential role of Galápagos lava lizards(Microlophus spp.)as pollinators across their *** 3 years,we sampled pollen transport by 9 lava lizard species on the 10 islands where they are present,including 7 single-island ***,only 25 of 296 individuals sampled(8.4%)transported pollen of 10 plant species,the most common being Prosopis juliflora,Exodeconus miersii,Sesuvium *** Cordia *** least 8 of these plant species were native,and none were confirmed as introduced to the *** the low overall proportion of individuals carrying pollen,this was observed in 7 of the nine lizard species,and on 8 of the ten main islands(Española,Fernandina,Floreana,Isabela,Marchena,Pinta,Santa Cruz and Santiago),suggesting that this is a widespread *** results reported here support the potential role of lava lizards as pollinators across their radiation,although they may represent a relatively modest contribution when compared with birds and ***,we cannot discard that lizards may be ecologically significant for particular plant species and ecosystems given the specific climatic condition and functional diversity of each island.

Selection and Analysis of Polymorphisms in Somaclonal Variants of Agave americana Resistant to Fusarium oxysporum via an Ethyl Methanesulphonate Treatment

Agave americana *** were exposed to different concentrations of ethyl methanesulphonate(EMS)0,15,30,45 and 60 mM and to different times of exposure(2 and 4 h).The viability and capacity of shoot formation were shown to be affected when the callus were exposed to high concentrations(30–60 mM).Only the callus exposed to 15 mM EMS presented shoot formation;the exposure time of two hours produced the largest quantity of shoots regenerated per callus(21 shoots/callus).In order to generate somaclonal variants resistant to Fusarium oxysporum,a selection pressure was applied through of a culture filtrate(CF)of 100 ppm of the *** was made in callus obtained in the treatment with 15 mM EMS during 2 h of *** CF caused oxidation and necrosis in 71.25%of the callus;however,they were capable of generating shoots(3.5 shoots/callus).Molecular markers type RAPD,ISSR and DAMD were used to evaluate the genetic variation arising from the mutations caused by EMS on control plants and 16-month-old somaclonal *** polymorphic information content(PIC)for each one of the initiating groups was:0.28(DAMD),0.09(ISSR)and 0.14(RAPD).DAMD revealed a greater percentage of polymorphism than RAPD and *** bands were detected in the somaclonal *** indicated that the EMS caused genetic variation in the regenerated plants conferring resistance to them against Fusarium oxysporum.

Objective: Juvenile nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JnA) is a benign neoplasm with a high vascularity component, greater craniofacial involvement in adolescent patients, and aggressive local behaviour. In unresectable patients, radiotherapy is a therapeutic option for local control. Our aim in this study was to analyze the clinical benefit and local control provided by two modalities of radiotherapy: the Three-Dimensional Conformal (3DC) technique and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), applied to pediatric patients with JnA considered unresectable and non-recurrent. Methods: In retrospective study, the information was recorded from pediatric patients with a diagnosis of non-recurrent and unresectable JnA treated with radiotherapy at the Oncology Hospital of the national Medical Center SXXI of Mexico City, from March 2010 to March 2021. Radiotherapy management and its association with clinical outcomes of tumour control, and symptoms were assessed. In addition, an evaluation of acute and chronic toxicity was performed. Results: It was found that the median age was 14 years. 9 patients (37.5%) underwent 3DC and 15 (62.5%) VMAT. In terms of local control, and progression-free survival, we did not find significant difference between radiotherapy modalities (p ≤ 0.57). Acute toxicity for both modalities presented statistical differences for radio epithelitis (p = 0.03). Only Grade I and II radiation-induced acute toxicity was observed. Regarding chronic toxicity, statistical significance was observed for craniofacial hypoplasia, in relation to its absence in the VMAT group (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The VMAT presents improvements in dosimetry parameters that improve patient toxicity. In both techniques adequate tumour control was observed, however, the rarity of the disease is a limitation to establish the most appropriate therapeutic technique.

Photoluminescence Response of HfO<sub>2</sub>:Eu<sup>3+</sup>Obtained by Hydrothermal Route

In this work, the synthesis and photoluminescence response of HfO2 doped with Eu3+ (HfO2:Eu3+) are reported. The synthesis was carried out by the hydrothermal route of HfCl4 and EuCl3?.6H2O with nH4OH dissolved in deionized water. To perform the hydrolysis, the precursors were subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 120°C, under autogenously pressure at reaction times of 24, 40, 52 and 72 hours. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by mean of X- ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Samples excited with 395 nm radiation show photoluminescence emission lines corresponding to the electronic transitions 5D0 → 7FJ (J = 0 → 4), characteristics of the Eu3+ ion. The photoluminescence emission intensity increases with the increasing of the reaction time, reaching a maximum at 72 hours. The excitation band peaked at 395 nm, makes this material an excellent candidate for applications in solid state white lamps.

Stimulation of the Protective Response to Actinomycetoma by nocardia brasiliensis in Mice Treated with Candida albicans Antigens

Actinomycetoma is a chronic subcutaneous lesion caused by the pathogenic bacterium nocardia (n.) brasiliensis. Yeast antigens of Candida (C.) albicans increase the interferon (IFn)-γ and TCD4+ cells levels that enhance the phagocytic killing of n. brasiliensis, able to survive inside phagocytes and to grow in clustered colonies that form grains. The aim of this work was to test the effect of a crude protein extract of C. albicans on the levels of IFn-γ producing TCD4+ cells and on the outcome of actinomycetoma lesion. Five BALB/c mice with n. brasiliensis infection at left hind footpad were treated four times every other day with C. albicans crude protein extract (CPE). Five uninfected mice treated with CPE or infected mice treated with sterile phosphate-saline buffer were included as positive and negative control groups, respectively. Footpad thickness was recorded in all groups. Once the treatments were finished, single cell suspensions from blood and spleen were prepared for assessing the amount (%) of IFn-γ producing TCD4+ cells by cytofluorometry;presence of TCD4+ and IFn-γ in footpad sections was detected by immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry, respectively. By comparison with the negative control group, infected mice treated with CPE had lower footpad thickness, higher percentage of blood and spleen IFn-γ producing TCD4+ cells as well as in situ presence of IFn-γ and TCD4+ cells. These findings showed that CPE from C. albicans displayed an immunoadjuvant activity that enhanced the presence of IFn-γ producing TCD4+ cells and IFn-γ for the resolution of n. brasiliensis actinomycetoma in mice.
