This study evaluated the expression of defense compounds from the secondary metabolism of Eucalyptus globulus plants, subjected to direct and indirect stimuli by the insect Ctenarytaina eucalypti (blue gum Psyllid). Results showed that defense responses were activated in plants in all tested cases. Were detected and identified thirty-two compounds in the leaves of treated plants, of which five compounds differed with the control, and all are part of the chemical defenses from the plants, three of them were oxygenated monoterpenes (borneol, exo-2-hydroxy cineole and thymol), a aromatic carboxylic acid (benzoic acid) and a quinone (6-acethyl-flaviolin). The plants induced by volatile compounds and by indirect entomological manner, showed its capability to synthesize defensive compounds without a wound that promotes these responses. Were also found some constitutive secondary metabolites over expressed in the different inductions compared with the control.

AIM To investigate the survival impact of clinicopathological factors, including pathological complete response(p CR) and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(s TIL) levels according to subtypes, in breast cancer(BC) patients who received neo-adjuvant chemotherapy(NAC).METHODS We evaluated 435 BC patients who presented and received NAC at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas from 2003 to 2014. s TIL was analyzed as the proportion of tumor stroma occupied by lymphocytes, and was prospectively evaluated on hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections of the preN AC core biopsy. p CR was considered in the absence of infiltrating cancer cells in primary tumor and axillary lymph nodes. Analysis of statistical association between clinical pathological features, s TIL, p CR and survival were carried out using *** Median age was 49 years(range 24-84 years) and the most frequent clinical stage was ⅢB(58.3%). Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-enriched and(triple-negative) TN phenotype was found in 24.6%, 37.9%, 17.7% and 19.8%, respectively. p CR was observed in 11% and median percentage of s TIL was 40%(2%-95%) in the whole population. p CR was associated to Ct1-2(P = 0.045) and to high s TIL(P = 0.029) in the whole population. There was a slight trend towards significance for s TIL(P = 0.054) in Luminal A. s TIL was associated with grade Ⅲ(P < 0.001), no-Luminal A subtype(P < 0.001), RE-negative(P < 0.001), PgR-negative(P < 0.001), HER2-positive(P = 0.002) and p CR(P = 0.029) in the whole population. Longer disease-free survival was associated with grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ(P = 0.006), cN 0(P < 0.001), clinical stage Ⅱ(P = 0.004), ER-positive(P < 0.001), Pg R-positive(P < 0.001), luminal A(P < 0.001) and p CR(P = 0.002). Objective. This work studied the influencing factors of age, level of education, family planning awareness, relationship with partner, the age at which sexual relationships were initiated, parity, the method of contraceptive previously used, the type of contraceptive pill used and the duration of oral hormonal contraception (OC) use in relation to the modification of sexual desire in OC users. Materials and Methods. Prospective study of 760 OC users at the Family Planning Center “Marina Alta” in Alicante (Spain). A logistical regression analysis was carried out to study the relative risk of reduction in libido, taking other risk factors into account. Results. In the simple analysis, women who initiated sexual relationships between 18 and 25 years of age had a lower sexual desire in comparison with women who were sexually active before the age of 18 (OR = 2.11;CI: 1.15 - 3.91). Nulliparous women had a reduced sexual desire compared with those women that had given birth (OR = 2.32;CI: 1.41 - 3.82). An OC use of between 6 months and 1 year reduced sexual desire in comparison with a use of less than 6 months (OR = 0.24;CI: 0.09 - 0.64). In the multivariate analysis, age (OR = 1.12;CI: 1.01 - 1.21) and the use of OC within an initial 6 month to a year period (OR = 0.24;CI: 0.09 - 0.64) presented a statistically significant relationship with the modification of sexual desire. The level of education, family planning awareness, relationship with partner, the method of contraception previously used and the type of contraceptive pill prescribed showed no statistical significance with the modification of sexual desire in OC users. Conclusions. Sexual desire in OC users decreases as a woman’s age increases and in an early stage of use in the first six months after beginning OC treatment.

AIM:To evaluates the effectiveness and safety of the first generation,NS3/4A protease inhibitors(PIs) in clinical practice against chronic C virus,especially in patients with advanced fibrosis. METHODS:Prospective study and non-experimental analysis of a multicentre cohort of 38 Spanish hospitals that includes patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1,treatment-na?ve(TN) or treatment-experienced(TE),who underwent triple therapy with the first generation NS3/4A protease inhibitors,boceprevir(BOC) and telaprevir(TVR),in combination with pegylated interferon and ribavirin. The patients were treatment in routine practice settings. Data on the study population and on adverse clinical and virologic effects were compiled during the treatment period and during follow ***:One thousand and fifty seven patients were included,405(38%) were treated with BOC and 652(62%) with TVR. Of this total,30%(n = 319) were TN and the remaining were TE:28%(n = 298) relapsers,12%(n = 123) partial responders(PR),25%(n = 260) null-responders(NR) and for 5%(n = 57) with prior response unknown. The rate of sustained virologic response(SVR) by intention-to-treatment(ITT) was greater in those treated with TVR(65%) than in those treated with BOC(52%)(P < 0.0001),whereas by modified intention-to-treatment(m ITT) no were found significant differences. By degree of fibrosis,56% of patients were F4 and the highest SVR rates were recorded in the non-F4 patients,both TN and TE. In the analysis by groups,the TN patients treated with TVR by ITT showed a higher SVR(P = 0.005). However,by m ITT there were no significant differences between BOC and TVR. In the multivariate analysis by m ITT,the significant SVR factors were relapsers,IL28 B CC and non-F4; the type of treatment(BOC or TVR) was not significant. Limitations imposed by Four-Wave Mixing (FWM), Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE), dispersion and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) on a multi-spam DWDM system are theoretically studied. In this work, expression for the linear dispersion parameter D has been defined as a function of number of channels in order to separate FWM and SRS effects and calculates both maximum fibre length and optimum power. Additionally, our simulation results consider the effect of ASE noise from Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifiers (EDFAs). This theoretical analysis yields a set of design criteria from optimized multi-span DWDM systems.

Lumen-apposing metal stents for benign gastrointestinal tract strictures: An international multicenter experience

AIM To investigate technical feasibility, outcomes and adverse events of the lumen-apposing metal stent(LAMS) for benign gastrointestinal(GI) tract *** Between July 2015 and January 2017, patients undergoing treatment by LAMS for benign GI strictures at three tertiary referral centers were included in this study. Primary outcomes included technical success, shortterm clinical success, long-term clinical success, and adverse events. Short-term clinical success was defined as symptom resolution at 30 d after stent placement. Longterm clinical success was defined by symptom resolution at 60 d in patients who continued to have indwelling stent, or continued symptom resolution at 30 d after elective stent *** A total of 21 patients(mean age 62.6 years, 47.6% males) underwent placement of LAMS for benign GI strictures. A 15 mm × 10 mm LAMS was placed in 16 patients, a 10 mm × 10 mm LAMS was placed in 2 patients, and a 16 mm × 30 mm LAMS was placed in 3 patients. Technical success was obtained in all cases. Short-term clinical success was achieved in 19 out of 21 cases(90.5%), and long-term clinical success was achieved in 12 out of 18(66.7%). Mean(range) stent indwell time was 107.2(28-370) d. After a mean(range) dwell time of 104.3(28-306) d, 9 LAMSs were removed due to the following complications: ulceration at stent site(n = 1), angulation(n = 2), migration(n = 4) and stricture overgrowth(n = 2). Migration occurred in 4 cases(19.0%), and it was associated with stricture resolution in one case. Median(range) follow-up period was 119(31-422) d. CONCLUSION Utilization of LAMS for benign strictures has shown to be technically feasible and safe, but adverse events highlight the need for further study of its indications.

Purpose: Prospective study to evaluate the anti-inflammatory efficacy of isotonic seawater solution on metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) levels in the tears of patients with dry eye disease (DED). Methods: A total of 50 patients were included, with the following dry eye criteria in both eyes: InflammaDry? test initially positive, ocular surface disease index (OSDI) score ≥ 12 and Results: The InflammaDry test was positive in 100% of the patients (n = 50) and in 100% (n = 100) of the eyes before treatment. In 14 (28%) patients the test became negative in both eyes, and in 15 (30%) it was negative in one of the eyes. In 43% (n = 43) of the positive eyes, MMP-9 became undetectable in the tear fluid following treatment with isotonic seawater. This change was statistically significant (p Conclusions: The washes with ophthalmic isotonic seawater solution have a significant impact on inflammation of the ocular surface in dry eye disease, with an ability to make MMP-9 levels negative in 43% of cases.

Purpose: The present work examines the associations of dietary habits， sedentarism， physical activity (PA) levels and sleep habits， with thyroid function in young euthyroid adults. Methods: A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional study. Thyroid function was determined in fasting conditions (> 6 h). Dietary habits were measured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls， and different dietary intake and patterns were then estimated. The time spent in sedentary， PA levels and sleep habits were objectively measured using a wrist-worn accelerometer. Results: Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) (β = 0.222; R2= 0.102; P = 0.022 and β = 0.425; R2= 0.129; P = 0.007， respectively) whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH (β = -0.428; R2= 0.137; P = 0.004). Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine (β = 0.277; R2= 0.137; P = 0.004). Further， adherence to the Mediterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine (FT4) (β = -0.221; R2= 0.113; P = 0.020 and β = -0.268; R2= 0.071; P = 0.007， respectively). Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4 (β = -0.227; R2= 0.052; P = 0.022 and β = -0.204; R2= 0.042; P = 0.041， respectively). In contrast， no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid function. Conclusions: Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seems to be related to thyroid function in young euthyroid adults.

Morelos is the fourth in area cultivated and production volume of avocado. Of the 13 municipalities where it is farmed, Ocuituco represents 43.51% and Tetela del Volain 27.53%. Despite being one of the main fruit species in Morelos, no information related to the fertility of the soil where it is grown, the quality of water available for irrigation and nutritional status of this important fruit for the state. The study was conducted in the municipality of Ocuituco which identified three agro-habitats taking into account climate, landform, soil type and altitude. In each agro-habitat were carried out soil sampling to determine the physical and chemical characteristics based on the Mexican Official Standard NOM-021-SEMARNAT-2000, the chemical quality of water for irrigation as described by Richards （1954） and crop nutrient status of avocado ＂Hass＂ according to the methodology described by Maldonado （2002）. The soils had different physical and chemical characteristics, as well as the nutritional status of avocado trees in the three agro-habitats. The trees had excessive concentration of CI, Cu and Zn. Indices of optimal percentage deviation expressed different nutritional requirements. The water used for irrigation was of low salinity and sodium content, so it can be used without restrictions.
