Compensation of polarization-variance-related artifacts is required to steadily obtain high-quality optical coherence tomography(OCT)images at various experimental *** most OCT systems utilize optical fiber to transfer the light easily and a polarized light source,the polarization state is arbitrarily changed in every different *** this study,we proposed polarization-maintaining-fiber-based polarization-insensitive OCT(PM-PI-OCT)with a simple optical configuration and a simple compensation *** proposed PMPI-OCT is not only theoretically proved by mathematical derivations but also evaluated by quantitative analysis of various fiber twisting ***,the applicability and robustness of the proposed PM-PI-OCT were proved by human retina imaging using the customized handheld *** proposed polarization-insensitive OCT requires no pre-calibration,no post-processing procedure,and no computational load for implementation and is able to be applied to universal fiber-based OCT *** believe that our simple and robust polarization-insensitive OCT system is able to be applied to various existing OCT setups for polarization state variance compensation with high versatility and applicability.

Imaging the intrinsic optical absorption properties of nanomaterials with optical microscopy(OM)is hindered by the optical diffraction limit and intrinsically poor ***,expensive and destructive electron microscopy(EM)has been commonly used to examine the morphologies of ***,while nanoscale fluorescence OM has become crucial for investigating the morphologies and functions of intracellular specimens,this modality is not suitable for imaging optical absorption and requires the use of possibly undesirable exogenous fluorescent molecules for biological *** we demonstrate super-resolution visible photoactivated atomic force microscopy(pAFM),which can sense intrinsic optical absorption with~8 nm ***,the resolution can be improved down to~8 *** system can detect not only the first harmonic response,but also the higher harmonic response using the nonlinear *** thermoelastic effects induced by pulsed laser irradiation allow us to obtain visible pAFM images of single gold nanospheres,various nanowires,and biological cells,all with nanoscale *** expensive EM,the visible pAFM system can be simply implemented by adding an optical excitation sub-system to a commercial atomic force microscope.

Objectives： The study was done to evaluate the efficacy of optical coherence tomography （OCT）, to detect and analyze the microdamage occurring around the microimplant immediately following its placement, and to compare the findings with micro-computed tomography （IJCT） images of the samples to validate the result of the present study. Methods： Microimplants were inserted into bovine bone samples. Images of the samples were obtained using OCT and μCT. Visual comparisons of the images were made to evaluate whether anatomical details and microdamage induced by microimplant insertion were accurately revealed by OCT. Results： The surface of the cortical bone with its anatomical variations is visualized on the OCT images. Microdamage occurring on the surface of the cortical bone around the microimplant can be appreciated in OCT images. The resulting OCT images were compared with the μCT images. A high correlation regarding the visualization of individual microcracks was observed. The depth penetration of OCT is limited when compared to μCT. Conclusions： OCT in the present study was able to generate high-resolution images of the microdamage occurring around the microimplant. Image quality at the surface of the cortical bone is above par when compared with μCT imaging, because of the inherent high contrast and high-resolution quality of OCT systems. Improvements in the imaging depth and development of intraoral sensors are vital for developing a real-time imaging system and integrating the system into orthodontic practice.

BACKGROUND The classification of uterine sarcomas is based on distinctive morphological and immunophenotypic characteristics,increasingly supported by molecular genetic *** on neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase(NTRK)gene fusionpositive uterine sarcoma,potentially aggressive and morphologically similar to fibrosarcoma,are limited due to its recent ***-TRK immunohistochemistry(IHC)analysis serves as an effective screening tool with high sensitivity and specificity for NTRK-fusion *** SUMMARY We report a case of a malignant mesenchymal tumor originating from the uterine cervix,which was pan-TRK IHC-positive but lacked NTRK gene fusions,accompanied by a brief literature review.A 55-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain and distension,exhibiting significant ascites and multiple solid pelvic *** examination revealed a tumor encompassing the uterine cervix,extending to the vagina and uterine corpus.A punch biopsy of the cervix indicated NTRK sarcoma with positive immunochemical pan-TRK ***,subsequent next generation sequencing revealed no NTRK gene fusion,leading to a diagnosis of poorly differentiated,advanced-stage *** The clinical significance of NTRK gene fusion lies in potential treatment with TRK inhibitors for positive *** such rare tumors is crucial due to the potential applicability of tropomyosin receptor kinase inhibitor treatment.

The present study introduces the carbonatite in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula for the first *** exploration and development of the phosphorus-bearing carbonate rocks in the area have accumulated new geological data which gave us an opportunity to study origin of the carbonate *** conducted geological survey,geochemical analyses of trace elements and rare earth elements,and carbon and oxygen isotope analyses for the carbonatites from Ssangryong,Pungnyon,Yongyu and Puhung districts of the northern part of the Korean *** research confirms that the phosphorus-bearing carbonate rocks are carbonatite originating from the *** studied carbonatites are distributed at the junctions of ring and linear structures or around their margins and contain a greater amount of REEs,Y,and Sr than carbonate *** carbonatites in Yongyu and Puhung area show evidence that they were formed from mantle plume generated at the lower mantle and display similar fractionation characteristics to carbonatites in Barrado Itapirapua in Brazil and Kalkfeld and Ondurakorume in *** patterns of the carbonatites are typical of carbonatites and the carbon and oxygen isotope analyses demonstrate that the carbonatites were originated from *** carbonatites from the northern part of the Korean Peninsula have a great potential for sources of REE,Y,PGE(platinum group elements),copper,and gold.

The reconstruction of paleofloods in the Holocene has become one research highlight for the present global change *** core sediments from one newly-emerged bar in the lower Changjiang River(Yangtze River)mainstream were collected for grain size and organic elemental measurements,with aim to reconstruct the flood events over the past 150 *** grain size parameters such as mean grain size,probability cumulative curve and C-M diagram of the core sediments clearly indicate the flood event ***,the TOC/TN ratios in the sediments can indicate flood events considering that during the flash floods,strong surface erosion in the upper and lower reaches of the Changjiang River can transport a large amount of undecomposed plant debris and organic components with relatively low C/N ratios into the lower *** on 210Pb dating and sedimentary geochemical results,the research profile recorded several large floods happened from 1850 to 1954,which agrees well with the historical documents and hydrological *** to note that the flood events since the 1960s cannot be distinctly recognized on the basis of sediment grain size and organic elemental compositions of the profile,which mainly reflects the intensive human activities over the last fifty years,especially condense dam construction,have significantly changed the characters of suspended sediment into the lower mainstream.

The pull-out capacities for soil nailing systems comprising of one single 29 mm diameter(type A) and four 16 mm diameter(type B) rebars with grouted cement were examined.A field test and numerical analysis for the type A and type B systems were carried out to investigate the pull-out capacities and the slope stability reinforcement efficiency in soil and rock *** results of the pull-out tests show the mobilized shear force and load transfer characteristics with respect to soil *** load-displacement relationship was examined for both type A and type B *** stability analyses were carried out to study the relationships between soil and nail reinforcement and bending stiffness as well as combined axial tension and shear *** of safety were calculated in relation to the number of nails and their outside *** soil and rock slopes were included in this evaluation.

The field tests were carried out to examine the reinforcement effect of a geogrid on various conditions of embankment height,the number of passages of vibratory roller,the number of reinforced layer of geogrid,and soil *** test results of the dynamic earth pressure indicate that the soil reinforced by geogrid is very effective to increase the stiffness of soil,especially in soft *** dynamic earth pressure ratio,which is defined as the ratio of dynamic earth pressure to self weight of soils,exponentially decreases as the embankment height *** dynamic earth pressure ratio increases up to 80% for soft soils reinforced by both one layer of geogrid in place of no reinforced soils and two layers in place of a single layer of geogrid.

Damage Pattern Recognition of Spatially Distributed Slope Damages and Rainfall Using Optimal GIS Mesh Dimensions

Damage assessment for slopes using geographical information system(GIS) has been actively carried out by researchers working on several government organizations and research institutes in Korea. In this study, 596 slope damages were examined to identify the types of damage associated with dip angles, dip directions, and heavy rainfall resulting from typhoons in South Korea. Heavy rainfall of 100 mm to 300 mm resulted in 80% at the investigated slope damages. A GIS database was developed for highways, rainfall, soil or rock geometry, and types of damage. A grid of rainfall intensity was generated from the records of maximum daily rainfall. Contours for slope damages and heavy rainfall using optimal GIS mesh dimensions were generated to visualize damage patterns and show substantially strong correlation of rainfall with slope damages. The combination of remote sensing with the GIS pattern recognition process described in this work are being expanded for a new generation of emergency response and rapid decision support systems.
