Oral administration of metanil yellow (MY) at 3.0% (w/w) dose level to adult male albino rats maintained on low protein (lP) diet for 30 days resulted in a greater decrease in absolute and relative weights of testes than in those rats maintained on a normal protein (NP)diet. A marked decrease in the activities of lactate dehydrogenase and hyaluronidase and content of lactic acid in lP + MY fed animals suggested that low protein diet enhenced the vulnerability of germ cells towards metanil yellow. The lack of significant changes in the cholesterol content of testis, the fructose content of the coagulating glands and the dorsolateral prostate,the activities of aIkaline phosphatase in the seminal vesicle, and acid phosphatase in ventral prostate of the MY treated animals suggested that their androgenic status were not affected.

AIM To determine the clinical and dietary predictors of common carotid artery intima media thickness(CCA IMT) in a cohort of subjects with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. METHODS Participants with type 1(n = 23) and type 2 diabetes(n = 127) had mean and mean maximum CCA IMT measured using B mode ultrasound. Dietary intake was measured using a food frequency questionnaire. Clinical and dietary predictors of mean and mean maximum CCA IMT were determined using linear regression analysis adjusted for potential confounders. RESUlTS The main predictors of mean and mean maximum CCA IMT were age and weight. After multivariate adjustment there were no dietary predictors of CCA IMT. However,in subjects that were not prescribed a lipid lowering medication alcohol consumption was positively associated with CCA IMT after multivariate adjustment. No difference existed in CCA IMT between subjects with type 1 or type 2 diabetes once age was adjusted for. CONClUSION CCA IMT was predominantly predicted by age and weight in these subjects with diabetes. The finding that CCA IMT was not different between people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes warrants further investigation in a larger cohort.

Pancreatitis is inflammation of pancreas and caused by a number of factors including pancreatic duct obstruction, alcoholism, and mutation in the cationic trypsinogen gene. Pancreatitis is represented as acute pancreatitis with acute inflammatory responses and; chronic pan-creatitis characterized by marked stroma formation with a high number of infiltrating granulocytes(such as neutrophils, eosinophils), monocytes, macrophages and pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs). These inflammatory cells are known to play a central role in initiating and promoting inflammation including pancreatic fibrosis, i.e., a major risk factor for pancreatic cancer. A number of inflammatory cytokines are known to involve in pro-moting pancreatic pathogenesis that lead pancreatic fibrosis. Pancreatic fibrosis is a dynamic phenomenon that requires an intricate network of several autocrine and paracrine signaling pathways. In this review, we have provided the details of various cytokines and molecular mechanistic pathways(i.e., Transforming growth factor-β/SMAD, mitogen--activated protein kinases, Rho kinase, Janus kinase/signal transducers and activators, and phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase) that have a critical role in the activation of PSCs to promote chronic pancreatitis and trigger the phenomenon of pancreatic fibrogenesis. In this review of literature, we discuss the involvement of several pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as in interleukin(Il)-1, Il-1β, Il-6, Il--8 Il-10, Il-18, Il--33 and tumor necrosis factor-α, in the pathogenesis of disease. Our review also highlights the significance of several experimental animal models that have an important role in dissecting the mechanistic pathways operating in the development of chronic pancreatitis, including pancreatic fibrosis. Bactrocera oleae is the most economically damaging insect of olive in the Mediterranean. As a reliable alternative to synthetic chemical insecticides, botanical pesticides from plant extracts are also considered natural control methods safe for the environment and human health. In practical applications up to date, studies demonstrating toxically effects of biological control agents on the insect have been carried out in organic farming systems based on some industrial microbial formulations. But much less attention has been given to botanical insecticides against B. oleae. Thus, a certified botanical insecticide issue from various plants and approved per Indian and International organic standards was tested against larvae and pupae of the olive pest Bactrocera oleae in the east of Tunisia under laboratory conditions. The experiments were conducted with 3 normal treatments and 1 control. Two techniques were used for larvae and pupae: direct contact using concentration from 0.5;0.750;1 and 1.5 mg/l and fumigation treatment using 2 mg/l conducted in rectangular boxes (25°C - 27°C, 75% - 85% RH and 14:10 lD photo period). For larval stages, lC50 and lC90 values for Ultra-Act were 0.45 and 1.22 mg/l in direct contact and 1.5 - 2 mg/l with fumigation, respectively. For pupal stage, the ID25 and ID50 values were estimated to be 0.71 mg and 1.26 mg respectively corresponding to the inhibition of emergence of 25% and 50% of B. oleae adults from pupa. Our results indicate that sprayed Ultra-Act product has the potential to control the three olive fly instar larvae. Pupal emergency was decreased significantly with fumigation treatment. In conclusion, Ultra-Act is a promising botanical insecticide against B. oleae that could be used as a successful alternative for chemicals in integrated control methods of this pest in Tunisia.

Foliar fungal diseases(rust and late leaf spot)incur large yield losses,in addition to the deterioration of fodder quality in groundnut *** oleic acid has emerged as a key market trait in groundnut,as it increases the shelf life of the produce/products in addition to providing health benefits to ***-assisted backcrossing(MABC)is the most successful approach to introgressing or pyramiding one or more traits using traitlinked *** used MABC to improve three popular Indian cultivars(GJG 9,GG 20,and GJGHPS 1)for foliar disease resistance(FDR)and high oleic acid content.A total of 22 BC3F4 and 30 BC2F4 introgression lines(Ils)for FDR and 46 BC3F4 and 41 BC2F4 Ils for high oleic acid were *** parent genome analysis using the 58 K Axiom_Arachis array identified several lines showing upto 94%of genome recovery among second and third backcross *** of these Ils revealed FDR scores comparable to the resistant parent,GPBD 4,and Ils with high(~80%)oleic acid in addition to high genome *** Ils provide further opportunities for pyramiding FDR and high oleic acid in all three genetic backgrounds as well as for conducting multi-location yield trials for further evaluation and release for cultivation in target regions of India.

Melanocytes that form stratum basale of skin epidermis express tyrosinase enzyme, which catalyzes initial two rate-limiting steps in the biotransformation of tyrosine into dark pigment called melanin. Even today, Tyrosinase inhibitors are among the promising candidates in cosmetic industry for skin-lightening formulations. Overexpression of tyrosinase causes excess melanin biosynthesis and deposition resulting in dark skin color. Moreover, localized overexpression of tyrosinase cause variety of hyperpigmentation disorders like melanoma, melasma, chloasma, dark patches, liver patches, etc. There has been a renewed interest in the natural products as main ingredients in the formulation of safe products for skin-whitening and treatment options for hyperpigmentation disorders. In the present communication, the results of our investigations on tyrosinase inhibition, modulation of intracellular tyrosinase and melanin levels in cultured B16F10 melanoma cells by Bacopa monnieri (l.) methanol extract (BME) are presented and discussed as safe option for skin lightening and to treat hyperpigmentation disorders. BME showed 11%, 29%, 54% and 80% inhibition of mushroom tyrosinase activity at an initial 100, 200, 400 and 600 μg of extract. Treatment of α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) stimulated cultured murine melanoma B16F10 cells with 100 μg/ml of the extract showed a decrease in the levels of cellular melanin and cellular tyrosinase content by 22% and 46% respectively. The cytotoxicity studies by MTT assay revealed that the lC50 of the BME is ≥1000 μg/ml in cultured mouse melanoma B16F10 and HEK293 cells.

The present study reports the reaction of 4-bromomethylcoumarins with salicylidineaniline in acetone with two equivalents of potassium carbonate resulted in the formation of title compounds at room temperature via intramolecular aldolization. The obtained compound is thermodynamically and kinetically stable with highly stereoselective and excellent yield.

The Review summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 3,283 new measurements from 899 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as heavy neutrinos, supersymmetric and technicolor particles, axions, dark photons, etc. All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions, Particle Detectors, Probability, and Statistics. Among the 112 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on： Dark Energy, Higgs Boson Physics, Electroweak Model, Neutrino Cross Section Measurements, Monte Carlo Neutrino Generators, Top Quark, Dark Matter, Dynamical Electroweak Symmetry Breaking, Accelerator Physics of Colliders, High-Energy Collider Parameters, Big Bang Nucleosynthesis, Astrophysical Constants and Cosmological Parameters. A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review.
