Transplanting embryonic stem cells onto damaged human corneal endothelium

AIM To investigate whether human embryonic stem cells(hESCs) could be made to attach, grow and differentiate on a human Descemet's membrane(DM).METHODS Spontaneously differentiated hESCs were transferred onto a human corneal button with the endothelial layer removed using ocular sticks. The cells were cultured on a DM for up to 15 d. The genetically engineered hESC line expressed green fluorescent protein, which facilitated identification during the culture experiments, tissue preparation, and analysis. To detect any differentiation into human corneal endothelial-like cells, we analysed the transplanted cells by immunohistochemistry using specific *** We found transplanted cells form a single layer of cells with a hexagonal shape in the periphery of the DM. The majority of the cells were negative for octamer-binding transcription factor 4 but positive for paired box 6 protein, sodium potassium adenosine triphosphatase(NaKATPase), and Zona Occludens protein 1. In four of the 18 trials, the transplanted cells were found to express CK3, which indicates that the stem cells differentiated into corneal epithelial cells in these cases. CONCLUSION It is possible to get cells originating from hESCs to become established on a human DM, where they grow and differentiate into corneal endothelial-like cells in vitro.

In this research,a lucunary Keggin structure,[PMo_2W_9O_（39）]^（7-） was selected as an efficient homogenous catalyst for degradation of an azo dye（direct blue 71） and a simple method was developed for degradation of *** method is based on the oxidation of azo dye in the presence of a lucunary Keggin form of polyoxometalates,K_7[PMo_2W_9O_（39）]？ 19H_2O,as a homogenous catalyst at room *** reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the absorbance of dye atλ=585 *** parameters including concentration of catalyst,concentration of H_2O_2,pH and reaction time were investigated and optimized. Results show that K_7[PMo_2W_9O_（39）]？ 19H_2O is more efficient in the presence of hydrogen *** of dye in the presence of the catalyst and H_2O_2 could lead to the disappearance approximately 65%of dye after 60 *** degradation for the same experiment performed in the absence of catalyst or in the absence of H_2O_2 was 22%or 5%*** 87% azo dyes has been eliminated after 90 min in the presence of catalyst,H_2O_2 and optimize conditions（0.6 g/L of K_7[PMo_（2-） W_9O_（39）H_9H_2O,0.08 mol/L hydrogen peroxide and room temperature）.

Efficacy of Valerian Extract on Sleep Quality after Coronary Artery bypass Graft Surgery: A Triple-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective:To assess the effect of valerian root extract on the sleep quality of patients after coronary artery bypass graft(CABG)***:The patients who participated in this triple-blind clinical trial were selected by permuted block *** participants were assigned to the valerian(n=36)and placebo(n=36)*** valerian group received 530 mg of valerian capsules for 30 nights after CABG surgery,and the placebo group received 530 mg of the placebo capsules containing wheat *** Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),the prothrombin time(PT)and partial thromboplastin time(PTT)were assessed on four occasions,including the baseline,the 3 rd,14 th and 30 th days following ***:The odds ratio of worsened sleep quality significantly varied over time(the interaction of time and group)in the valerian group compared to the placebo group in various dimensions including total sleep quality(P=0.001),sleep latency(P<0.01),sleep duration(P=0.020),sleep efficiency(P=0.001)and daytime dysfunction(P=0.025).No significant difference was observed in the alterations of the odds ratio of PT in the two groups over time.(P=0.371).Conclusion:The consumption of oral valerian root extract over 30 nights could significantly improve the patients'sleep quality safely after CABG surgery.

This paper reports two seronegative cases of parotid swelling following MMR vaccination,which contains Hoshino strain of mumps *** study showed a high,(5%) potential reactogenicity induced by Hoshino strain of current MMR vaccine administered in Iranian *** rate of complication of parotid swelling following national immunization against mumps is more than natural *** on the results of this report, there is the first report of occurrence of parotid swelling 31 days following MMR *** reaction or complication may not be dependent on the vaccine dose,because one of cases presented parotid swelling following taking one fifth of conventional dose of *** must be considered this strain may be with high rate of complication and be the subject of change of mumps strain of this vaccine in national immunization program of Iran.

Prediction of malaria cases in the southeastern Iran using climatic variables:An 18-year SARIMA time series analysis

Objective:To predict future trends in the incidence of malaria cases in the southeast of Iran as the most important area of malaria using Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(SARIMA)model,and to check the effect of meteorological variables on the disease ***:SARIMA method was applied to fit a model on malaria incidence from April 2001 to March 2018 in Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeastern *** variables such as temperature,rainfall,rainy days,humidity,sunny hours and wind speed were also included in the multivariable model as ***,the best fitted model was adopted to predict the number of malaria cases for the next 12 ***:The best-fitted univariate model for the prediction of malaria in the southeast of Iran was SARIMA(1,0,0)(1,1,1)12[Akaike Information Criterion(AIC)=307.4,validation root mean square error(RMSE)=0.43].The occurrence of malaria in a given month was mostly related to the number of cases occurring in the previous 1(p=1)and 12(P=1)*** inverse number of rainy days with 8-month lag(β=0.3292)and temperature with 3-month lag(β=-0.0026)were the best predictors that could improve the predictive performance of the univariate ***,SARIMA(1,0,0)(1,1,1)12 including mean temperature with a 3-month lag(validation RMSE=0.414)was selected as the final multivariable ***:The number of malaria cases in a given month can be predicted by the number of cases in the prior 1 and 12 *** number of rainy days with an 8-month lag and temperature with a 3-month lag can improve the predictive power of the model.

Millimetre-wave(mmWave)technology continues to draw great interest due to its broad applications in wireless communications,radar,and *** to pure electronic solutions,photonic-based mmWave generation provides wide bandwidth,low power dissipation,and remoting through low-loss ***,at high frequencies,two major challenges exist for the photonic system:the power roll-off of the photodiode,and the large signal linewidth derived directly from the ***,we demonstrate a new photonic mmWave platform combining integrated microresonator solitons and high-speed photodiodes to address the challenges in both power and *** solitons,being inherently mode-locked,are measured to provide 5.8 dB additional gain through constructive interference among mmWave beatnotes,and the absolute mmWave power approaches the theoretical limit of conventional heterodyne detection at 100 *** our free-running system,the soliton is capable of reducing the mmWave linewidth by two orders of magnitude from that of the pump *** work leverages microresonator solitons and high-speed modified uni-traveling carrier photodiodes to provide a viable path to chip-scale,high-power,low-noise,high-frequency sources for mmWave applications.

Background:From the begging months of 2020 a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2,also called 2019-nCoV)caused a devastating global *** present,the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019(COVlD-19)is made through a nasopharyngeal swab based on reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)***,some recent studies suggested the possible role of oral fluids and saliva in the detection of *** purpose of this scoping review is evaluating the available evidence regarding the efficacy of saliva as a diagnostic specimen in COVID-19 ***:A systematic literature review of six databases(PubMed,Scopus,The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials[CENTRAL],Science Direct,Web of Science and Google scholar)was carried out without any restrictions on date of publication to identify the reliability of saliva as a diagnostic specimen for detection of SARS-CoV-2 in suspected ***:Nine eligible articles were included in this review based on our described *** the included studies are based on clinical surveys among patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 *** of studies included in this review,reported that there is no statistically significant difference between nasopharyngeal or sputum specimens and saliva samples regarding viral ***:Despite limitations of this study,the findings of this review suggest that the use of self-collected saliva as a non-invasive specimen has proper accuracy and reliability regarding detection of SARS-CoV-2 based on RT-PCR technique.
