In the present paper, a study of the productivity of oocytes in 402 female individuals of the horse mackerel, Trachurus trachurus for an interval of fork length （LF） between 14 cm and 20 cm, in stage IV （pre-spawning） and V （spawning） was performed to estimate the fecundity rate in Oran Bay （Algerian western coast） since October 2008 to April 2009. Total fecundity （absolute and relative） were calculated using fish length, weight and eviscerated weight of gonads. Absolute fecundity by size class oscillates from 33,375 to 56,391 eggs with an average of 48,686 ±11,470. The relative fecundity ranges from 34,802 to 139,636 eggs per 100 g body weight with an average of 96,955 ± 33,814 and it is varying between 15,544 and 46,561 per gram of gonad with an average of 28,595 ±20,251. The distribution of oocytes shows that stages I and II are presented throughout the spawning season and they constitute a stockpile for subsequent clutches.

Sudden hearing loss associated with peginterferon and ribavirin combination therapy during hepatitis C treatment

Adverse effects associated with peginterferon and ribavirin during hepatitis C treatment are well known. Sudden hearing loss has rarely been reported. Possible mechanisms involved include direct ototoxicity of interferon, autoimmunity, and hematological changes. Hearing loss is frequently fully resolved after discontinuation of antiviral therapy. We report a 47-year- old man with chronic hepatitis C, genotype 2 ac who developed sudden hearing loss 22 wk after starting therapy with peginterferon alpha 2a at a dose of 180 ~g per week and ribavirin 800 mg per day. Since symptoms did not worsen, antiviral therapy was continued for 2 wk, according to the patient＇s wish. Hearing loss resolved within 2 wk after the end of treatment. Serum liver alanine aminotransferase remained normal during and after the end of antiviral therapy. HCV RNA was undetectable at the end of therapy and remained negative 24 wk later. Thus, patients should be aware that hearing loss may occur with peginterferon therapy, but the decision whether to continue or to stop the treatment is based on the clinical judgment of the physician and the wishes of the patient.

随着中国经济的快速发展,中国在世界各国,尤其在中亚国家的影响力不断扩大,中国经济的腾飞促使汉语同英语一样,逐渐成为世界上最重要的语言之一,越来越多的外国人开始学习汉语,着迷于中国的文化。在世界各国兴起的这股“汉语热”,推动了中国对外汉语教学事业的迅猛发展。中国与第一大中亚国家哈萨克斯坦近年来致力于推动人文交流和教育合作,哈萨克斯坦在华留学生人数不断增长,“汉语热”已在哈萨克斯坦当地悄然兴起。随着中哈两国经贸、教育、文化等领域的合作,哈萨克斯坦对汉语人才的需求量也不断增加。本文首先对中国和哈萨克斯坦两个国家进行简单介绍,其次对中哈双边关系发展的历程、中国文化在哈萨克斯坦的推广进行了阐述,然后进一步分析哈萨克斯坦汉语人才的现状以及哈萨克斯坦社会对汉语人才的需求,以及中哈旅游合作为汉语人才带来的影响,最后展望中哈经济文化合作的巨大潜力与汉语人才的发展前景。

Diabetes mellitus is a major public health concern. Finding a cure for the disease without its side-effects is the objective of modem medicine. The plant is a raw material for these studies. Zygophyllum gemini is a species widely used in Algeria to treat this disease. Our aim is to investigate the antidiabetic activity of aqueous extract and its fractions in induced diabetic Wistar rats by streptozotoein. The three drugs caused a decrease in blood sugar for 14 days. Butanolic fractions （BF） fraction gives significant results on blood glucose after seven days and significant regulating oral glucose tolerance. This preliminary study shows that Z. geslini is endowed with a remarkable antidiabetic activity and that further studies are needed.

A Huge Metastatic Liver of a Neuroendocrin Tumor Explored by SPECT/CT with ^99mTc-Tektrotyd: A Case Report

Background: Colorectal neuroendocrine tumors are rare and have a heterogeneous clinical representation and variable prognosis. High grade neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are characterized by destructive and aggressive growth, followed by rapid spread. For this purpose, SPECT/CT with 99mTc-Tektrotyd is very useful for imaging and staging of NETs. Case Report: A 50-year-old man with a huge metastatic liver from an unknown neuroendocrine tumor (NET). SPECT/CT with 99mTc-Tektrotyd was performed in this patient, it showed a huge metastatic hepatomegaly compressing neighboring organs with bone metastases, and also revealed the primary colon tumor. Discussion and Conclusion: In recent decades, the incidence and prevalence of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), especially those of the colorectal segments, have been increasing. 99mTc-EDDA/HYNIC-TOC (Tektrotyd?) was introduced into the market and its use has been approved for scintigraphic imaging of patients with NETs and other SSTR-positive tumors. It provides in vivo metabolic data related to the over-expression of Somatostatin Receptors (SSTRs) and also predicts response to peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT).

Modeling Bat Species Richness and Spatial Distribution in Burkina Faso

The spatial distribution of bats in Burkina Faso is little-known. Previous studies have only described the bat species’ richness in Burkina Faso. This study was conducted to highlight bat species’ richness distribution within Burkina Faso and environmental variables that influence this distribution with the aim to give support for protection and further sampling for biodiversity. The Species Distribution Models (SDMs) were used to perform this study. To do that, species occurrences were collected throughout literature and field sampling and correlated to environmental variables through the Maxent software (Maximum Entropy). Our modeling variables included climate, vegetation cover, topography and hydrography data. The Jackknife test was performed to determine the importance of environmental variables that influence the species distribution model. The results showed that bats are present in all areas of vegetation in Burkina Faso. Species richness varies across the country. The species richness for major families increases from North to South. The total annual precipitation and topography are the main variables that positively influence bats distribution in Burkina Faso but the bare ground cover and standard deviation of the maximum temperature negatively influence this distribution. This modeling approach of bat species richness is important for policies makers and represents an invaluable tool in ecological management, particularly in the current context of climate change.

Interest of SPECT/CT in Detection of Sentinel Lymph Node in Breast Cancer

Aim: Assess the role of hybrid modality SPECT/CT versus planar scintigraphy in sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification in patients with breast cancer. Methods: Planar scintigraphy and hybrid modality SPECT/CT were performed in 23 women with breast cancer (mean age 59.5 years with range 25 - 82 years) with invasive breast cancer (T0, T1 and T2), without clinical evidence of axillary lymph node metastases (N0) and no remote metastases (M0), radiocolloid was injected in four subareolar sites. Planar and SPECT/CT images were separately interpreted. Results: SLNs were detected on lymphoscintigraphy in all patients (100%), taking into consideration both techniques (planar and SPECT-CT images). Planar images identified 45 SLNs in 23 women, with a mean of 1.95 per patient, whereas 56 SLNs were detected on SPECT/CT, increasing this mean to 2.43 per patient. Drainage to internal mammary lymph nodes was seen in 4 patients (17.39%). However, two foci of uptake were identified on planar image as hot SLN in two patients (8.69%);while they have been found as a false positive non-nodal site of uptake on SPECT/CT. Conclusion: SPECT/CT is more focused than planar scintigraphy in the detection of SLN in patients with breast cancer. It detects some lymph nodes not visible on planar images, excludes false positive uptake and exactly locates axillary and non-axillary SLNs.

Effects of crude thymus gland extract on some physiological and biochemical parameters in local rabbits

In the present study,36 local rabbits of different ages were divided into two groups:18 infants and 18 adult rabbits of both sexes were *** group of rabbits were subdivided randomly into two subgroups(control and treated).Treated groups,received intraperitoneally calf thymus extract obtained from abattoir and homogenized with 0.15M NaCl,centrifuged and the supernatant was Millipore filtrated and stored at-20ºC and used in a dose of 0.25 mL/kg body weight daily for two *** groups received similar doses of normal saline *** obtained from each treated group were compared to those of the control *** days after the last injection,animals were anesthetized and blood samples were collected for biochemical,hematological *** treated with crude thymus extract showed significant decreases in RBC,Hb and *** indices(MCV and MCHC)also showed significant decreases in treated *** count and the percentage of lymphocytes showed highly significant decrease in both treated groups,crude extract seems to induce immunosup-pressive action through anti proliferative *** parameters showed high significant decrease of serum albumin level in the treated adult group but no changes were observed in the infant group,while total protein markedly decreased only in treated adult,which could be explained on the base of decreased negative acute protein and increased catabolism of proteins in the *** in the lipid profile showed significant increase in triglyceride,VLDL,and LDL level,while HDL level was decreased in both treated *** in the HDL composition which is expected and decrease of antioxidant lead to increase in free radicals which induced LDL and VLDL oxidation and initiation of *** all treated groups highly significant increase of AST,ALT and ALP activation were obvious as a result of liver cell damages.
