A Novel Cascaded PID Controller for Automatic Generation Control Analysis With Renewable Sources

Present day power scenarios demand a high quality uninterrupted power supply and needs environmental issues to be addressed. Both concerns can be dealt with by the introduction of the renewable sources to the existing power system. Thus, automatic generation control(AGC) with diverse renewable sources and a modified-cascaded controller are presented in the ***, a new hybrid scheme of the improved teaching learning based optimization-differential evolution(hITLBO-DE) algorithm is applied for providing optimization of controller parameters. A study of the system with a technique such as TLBO applied to a proportional integral derivative(PID), integral double derivative(IDD) and PIDD is compared to hITLBO-DE tuned cascaded controller with dynamic load *** suggested methodology has been extensively applied to a 2-area system with a diverse source power system with various operation time non-linearities such as dead-band of, generation rate constraint and reheat thermal units. The multi-area system with reheat thermal plants, hydel plants and a unit of a wind-diesel combination is tested with the cascaded controller scheme with a different controller setting for each area. The variation of the load is taken within 1% to 5% of the connected load and robustness analysis is shown by modifying essential factors simultaneously by± 30%. Finally, the proposed scheme of controller and optimization technique is also tested with a 5-equal area thermal system with non-linearities. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed controller and algorithm under a dynamically changing load.

Shear Strength and Morphological Study of Polyurethane- OMMT Clay Nanocomposite Adhesive Derived from Vegetable Oil-Based Constituents

In the current work,we have synthesized vegetable oil-based polyurethane-OMMT clay nanocomposite(PUNC)adhesive with the incorporation of different wt%of organically modified nanoclay(1 to 5 wt%)into the biobased polyurethane(PU)matrix through in-situ polymerization process via ultrasonication *** the initial stage,PU adhesive was prepared using polyol and partially biobased aliphatic isocyanate,wherein polyol was derived from the transesterified castor oil using ethylene *** formation of PU and PUNC adhesive was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy *** tensile strength of PU with different wt%of nanoclay was determined and the analysis showed that the loading of 3 wt%of nanoclay within the PU matrix showed better performance as compared to the ***,shear strength of PU and PUNC(3 wt%nanoclay)adhesives were determined using lap shear test,in which PUNC adhesive showed higher adhesive strength at 70°***,the dispersibility of OMMT nanoclay within the PU matrix along with exfoliation and amorphous structure was confirmed through wide angle X-ray diffractometer(WAXD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)*** phase separation structure was analyzed using dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA).The analysis revealed that with the addition of organically modified nanoclay in the PU matrix,the glass transition temperature(Tg)of the damping curve was shifted towards higher temperature.

Synthesis of the 3D porous carbon-manganese oxide (3D-C@MnO) nanocomposite and its supercapacitor behavior study

A 3D porous carbon-manganese oxide（3D-C@MnO） nanocomposite is successfully synthesized via a thermal plasma deposition *** chemical bonds and compositions,phase structures,surface morphologies,*** as-obtained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite were characterized by the various equipment,such as X-ray diffractometer,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and electron *** electrochemical performances of the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite electrode showed a specific capacitance of 780 Fg;at a current density of 2Ag;and a capacitance retention rate of 99% after 5000 charge-discharge cycles at a high current density of 10Ag;.These excellent capacitive performances may be attributed to the encapsulation of MnO nanoparticles by porous carbon sheets in the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite *** is believed that the carbon-encapsulated MnO nanoparticles can be protected from a volume deformation during the charge adsorption/desorption cycle and can be electrically improved by the encapsulated carbon sheets,resulting in better overall capacitive *** addition,this study also demonstrates the practical applicability by assembling a supercapacitor using the as-obtained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite to glow a light emitting diode.

QoS aware routing and wavelength allocation in optical burst switching networks using differential evolution optimization

The issue of burst losses imposes a constraint on the development of Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks. Heavy burst losses strongly affect the Quality of Service (QoS) intended by end users. This article presents a QoS aware Routing and Wavelength Allocation (RWA) technique for burst switching in OBS networks. The RWA problem is modeled as a bi-objective Integer Linear Programming (ILP) problem, where objective functions are based on minimizing the number of wavelengths used and the number of hops traversed to fulfill the burst transmission requests for a given set of node pairs. The ILP model is solved using a novel approach based on a Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Analytical results show that the DE algorithm provides a better performance compared to shortest path routing, which is a widely accepted routing strategy for OBS networks.

Inversion of radiative transfer model for retrieval of wheat biophysical parameters from broadband reflectance measurements

This study describes the retrieval of wheat biophysical variables of leaf chlorophyll(Cab),leaf area index(LAI),canopy chlorophyll(CCC),and leaf wetness(Cw)from broadband reflectance data corresponding to IRS LISS-3(Linear Imaging Self Scanner)sensor by inversion of PROSAIL5B canopy radiative transfer *** data of wheat crop,grown under different treatments,were measured by hand-held spectroradiometer and later integrated to LISS-3 reflectance using its band-wise relative spectral response *** inversion techniques were used and their performance was compared using different statistical parameters and target *** inversion techniques tried were:a look up table with best solution(LUT-I),a look up table with mean of best 10%solutions(LUT-II)and an artificial neural network(ANN).All the techniques could estimate the biophysical variables by capturing variability in their observed values,though accuracy of estimation varied among the three *** diagram clearly depicted the superiority of LUT-II over the other two approaches indicating that a mean of best 10%solutions is a better strategy while ANN was worst performer showing highest bias for all the *** all the three inversion techniques,the general order of retrieval accuracy was LAI>Cab>CCC>*** range of Cw was very narrow and none of the techniques could estimate variations in *** most of the cases,the parameters were underestimated by model *** best identified LUT-II technique was then applied to retrieve wheat LAI from IRS LISS-3 satellite image of 5-Feb-2012 in Sheopur *** comparison with ground observations showed that the RMSE of LAI retrieval was about 0.56,similar to that observed in ground *** findings of this study may help in refining the protocol for generating operational crop biophysical products from IRS LISS-3 or similar sensors.

Evaluation of soil loss estimation using the RUSLE model and SCS-CN method in hillslope mining areas

Mining operations result in the generation of barren land and spoil heaps which are subject to high erosion rate during the rainy season. The present study uses the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) and SCS-CN (Soil Conservation Service - Curve Number) process to estimate in kiruburu and Meghahatuburu mining sites areas. The geospatial model of annual average soil loss rate was determined by integrating environmental variables parameters in a raster pixels-based GIS framework. GIS layers with, rainfall passivity and runoff erosivity (R), soil erodibility (k), slope length and steepness (LS), cover management(C) and conservation practice (P) factors were calculated to determine their effects on annual soil erosion in the study area. The coefficient of determination (r2) was 0.834, which indicates a strong correlation of soil loss with runoff and rainfall. Sub -watersheds 5,9,10 and 2 experienced high level of highly runoff. Average annual soil loss was calculated (30*30 m raster grid cell) to determine the critical soil loss areas (Sub-watershed 9 and 5). Total soil erosion area was classified into five class, slight (10,025 ha), moderate (3125 ha), high (973 ha), very high (260 ha) and severe (53 ha). The resulting map shows greatest soil erosion of >40 t h-1 y-1 (severe) through connection to grassland, degraded and open forestry on the erect mining side-escutcheon. The Landsat pan sharpening image and DGPS survey field data were used in the verification of soil erosion results.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is an aggressive tumor with poor long-term *** pancreatitis(CP)is considered a risk factor for the development of pancreatic cancer(PC).Persistent pancreatic inflammation and activation of pancreatic stellate cells play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of CPrelated PC by activating the oncogene *** genetic mutations increase the possibility of recurrent and persistent pancreatic inflammation,they are not directly associated with the development of *** studies suggest that early surgical intervention for CP might have a protective role in the development of CP-related ***,the physician faces the clinical question of whether early surgical intervention should be recommended in patients with CP to prevent the development of ***,the varying relative risk of PC in different subsets of CP underlines the complex gene-environment interactions in the disease ***,it is essential to stratify the risk of PC in each individual *** review focuses on the complex relationship between CP and PC and the impact of surgical intervention on PC *** proposed risk stratification based on the genetic and environmental factors could guide future research and select patients for prophylactic surgery.

Antioxidant Protection Mechanisms Reveal Significant Response in Drought-Induced Oxidative Stress in Some Traditional Rice of Assam, India

Drought tolerance levels and antioxidant protection mechanisms were evaluated for 21 traditional rice varieties of Assam, India, along with Sahbhagi Dhan （drought tolerant） and IR64 （drought sensitive） as controls. Drought was imposed in hydroponic culture with polyethylene glycol 6000 （PEG6000） that was initially standardized with different concentrations. All the rice varieties showed apparent decreases in growth characteristics under drought stress （initially at 15% for 7 d followed by 20% PEG6000 for 7 d in Yoshida medium）. On the basis of standard evaluation score （SES）, eight rice varieties showed high drought tolerance which were carried forward for further biochemical analyses. Based on different morpho- physiological parameters, SN03 （Bora）, SN04 （Prosad Bhog）, SN05 （kola Joha）, SN06 （Helash Bora）, SN08 （Salihoi Bao）, SN12 （kola Amona）, SN20 （Ronga Bora） and SN21 （Sok-Bonglong） were identified as promising drought tolerant varieties. The non-enzymatic antioxidants activities viz., glutathione, ascorbate and enzymatic antioxidant activities such as superoxide dismutase （SOD）, catalase （CAT）, guaiacol peroxidase （GPX）, ascorbate peroxidase （APX）, glutathione reductase （GR） in shoots and roots of all the selected varieties revealed significant level of protection mechanisms as compared with controls. Enhancement in activities of the overall antioxidant enzymes including SOD, GPX, CAT, GR and APX under drought stress reflects their role in the adaptation process under water stress.

Ionic liquids(ILs)have been used effectively in many applications for reducing problems related to friction and *** this work,the potential of ILs as an anti-wear and extreme pressure lubricant additive for high load-carrying gearbox applications such as helicopter transmissions has been *** halide-free ILs:P_(8881)(BuO)_(2)PO_(2)^(-)(1)and P_(8881)(MeO)_(2)PO_(2)^(-)(2),which are blended at 5 wt%each into a standard non-additivated FVA2 base oil(BO)are *** solid-liquid interface,friction and load-carrying capacity,and wear(scuffing)behavior are studied on the nano-,lab-,and component-scale,respectively,at a different range of temperature and loading conditions by using the atomic force microscopy(AFM),Schwing-Reib-Verschleiβ(SRV)friction tests,and Brugger tests,as well as forschungsstelle für zahnrader und getriebebau(FZG)back-to-back gear test *** AFM analysis shows nearly no change of adhesion over the full range of studied temperature for the IL blends compared to the ***,IL blends demonstrate a very stable coefficient of friction(COF)of around 0.16,which even decreases with increasing test temperatures ranging from 40 to 120℃.A clear reduction in COF up to 25%is achieved by adding only 5 wt%of the investigated Ils in the BO,and the Brugger tests also show a pronounced enhancement of load-carrying ***,on the component-scale,a significant improvement in gear scuffing performance has been observed for both used IL blends.A detailed characterization of the wear tracks from the SRV friction tests via the transmission electron microscopy(TEM)revealed the formation of a phosphate(P-O)-based amorphous tribo-chemical layer of about 20 nm ***,this work may present an approach for Ils to be used as an additive in conventional lubricants due to their ability to enhance the lubrication properties,making them an alternative lubricant solution for high load-carrying gearbox applications.
