Background and Aims:The role of miR-34a in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is controversial and several unresolved issues remain,including its expression pattern and relevance to tumor etiology,tumor stage and prognosis,and finally,its impact on apoptosis.Methods:miR-34a expression was assessed in hepatitis C virus (HCV)-induced non-metastatic HCC tissues by RT-Q-PCR.Huh-7 cells were transfected with miR-34a mimics and the impact of miR-34a was examined on 84 pro-apoptotic/anti-apoptotic genes using PCR array;its net effect was tested on cell viability via MTTassay.Results:miR-34a expression was up-regulated in HCC tissues.Moreover,miR-34a induced a large set of pro-apoptotic/anti-apoptotic genes,with a net result of triggering apoptosis and repressing cell viability.Conclusions:HCC-related differential expression of miR-34a could be etiology-based or stage-specific,and low expression of miR-34a may predict poor prognosis.This study's findings also emphasize the role of miR-34a in apoptosis.

This paper construct a comparison between two main software’s used in programming applications that are Java and C++, the comparison operation includes the time needed to perform some algorithm i.e. speed of operation, flexibility to adjusting some code, and efficiency. The same code is used to compare between the two software to determine which one is better. It is found that C++ needs less time to execute the same code comparing with Java. Java needs about 10% excess time to execute the same code segment comparing to C++.

Objective: To carry out a 3D vector reconstruction of the muscles of the ventral region of the neck from anatomical sections of the “Korean Visible Human” for educational purposes. Materials and Methods: The anatomical subject was a 33-year-old Korean man who died of leukemia. He was 164 cm tall and weighed 55 kgs. The anatomical sections were made in 2010 after an MRI and a CT scan. A special saw (cryomacrotome) made it possible to make cuts 0.2 mm thick on the frozen body, i.e. 5960 cuts. Sections numbered 1500 to 2000 (or 500 cuts covering the neck) were used for our study. A segmentation by manual contouring of each anatomical element of the anterior neck region was done using Winsurf version 3.5 software on a laptop PC running Windows 7 equipped with an 8 gigabyte RAM. In the present work, the corrosion behavior of base and welded API5L X-52 carbon steel coupons in synthetic ground water solution NS-4 was studied. Subsequently, the morphology and composition of the corrosion product deposits were determined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Based on weight loss as well as Tafel’s measurements, increasing the sulfide ions content above 0.4 mM, had an inhibition effect on the corrosion behavior of carbon steel. According to EDAX analyses, increasing of sulfide concentration from 0.4 to 4 mM Na2S, the Fe/S ratio decreased from 12.02 at 0.4 mM to 2.6 at 4 mM Na2S.

E-mail hackers use many methods in their work, in this article, most of such efficient methods are demonstrated and compared. Different methods and stages of such methods are listed here, in order to reveal such methods and to take care of them but the most common discussed method in this paper is SQL method. SQL injection is a type of security exploit in which the attacker adds SQL statements through a web application's input fields or hidden parameters to gain access to resources or make changes to data. It is found that the SQL is an efficient way in preventing E-mail hacking and its efficiency reaches about 80%. The method of SQL injection can be considered as an efficient way comparing with other methods.

Background:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of limited-resource hospitals in managing mild and moderate hospitalized cases of COVID-19 with comorbidities and in preventing their progression to severe illness.Methods:Data were obtained from 88 moderate COVID-19 patients with comorbidities who were admitted to limitedresource hospitals.The data were classified into several parts:comorbidities,chronic medication before hospital admission,symptoms of COVID-19 before and during hospitalization,clinical features,laboratory findings on hospital admission,complications during hospitalization,as well as worst laboratory values during hospitalization,hospital stay,and outcomes.The clinical features,laboratory results,type of oxygen therapy used,and the final treatment outcome were all evaluated to assess for any potential relationship.Results:All patients were alive upon discharge.Before admission,the majority of patients(60.2%)received COVID-19 treatment,and the average hospital stay was 12 days.The most common symptoms were fever(88.7%),cough(95.5%),shortness of breath(90.9%),myalgia(84.1%),confusion(63.6%),headache(62.5%),sore throat(88.7%),rhinorrhea(17%),chest pain(58%),diarrhea(19.3%),nausea and vomiting(38.6%),anosmia(62.5%),as well as dysgeusia(64.8%).Based on chest radiograph or computed tomography(CT)scan,9.1%of the patients had unilateral pneumonia,90.9% had bilateral pneumonia,and 96.6% had multiple mottling and ground-glass opacity.Age was found associated with a significant increase in headache(p=0.005),rhinorrhea(p=0.013),chest pain(p=0.007),and the need for positive airway pressure(p=0.008).Between pre-and post-hospital admissions,there was a significant increase in lactate dehydrogenase and ferritin but a decrease in platelet,D-dimer,hemoglobin,lymphocytes,neutrophils,and total leucocyte count(p<0.001).There was a significant association between hospital stay and D-dimer level(p=0.05).Conclusion:Limited-resource hospitals in Egypt were efficient in managing mild and moderate hosp

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess school indoor exposure to microbial products and prevalence of asthma and allergies in rural and urban children.Methods: This study was carried on a rural and an urban school.Environmental endotoxin level was measured in multiple samples of the ambient indoor air dust collected on special aseptic filter papers from the two schools.For two hundred children history taking,clinical examination,allergen skin prick test and basic pulmonary function test were preformed.Results: Environmental endotoxin levels showed significantly higher mean values(P<0.01) in rural school(3 EU/mg) as compared to the urban school(0.1 EU/mg) with(OR=5.163;95% CI: 0.95-28).History of allergic symptoms was significantly more in urban than rural students(P=0.01).Mean values of pulmonary function parameters were significantly lower values in urban students compared to rural students.Skin prick test results showed significant reactions to all tested allergens in urban children compared to rural children(P<0.05).Conclusion: There is an inverse association between environmental exposure to endotoxins and susceptibility for allergic manifestations in school children.

Performance Evaluation of Edge Detection Using Sobel, Homogeneity and Prewitt Algorithms

Edge detection considered as very important and fundamental tool in image processing. An image edge is a very sensitive place where the image information and details mostly placed on it. Different filters were used to detect and enhance these edges to improve the sharpness and raising the image clarity. The significance of this paper comes from the study, compare and evaluate the effects of three well-known edge detection techniques in a spatial domain, where this evaluation was performed using both subjective and objective manner to find out the best edge detection algorithm. The Sobel, Homogeneity and Prewitt algorithms were used on 2D gray-scale synthesis and real images in Jordan using C# programming language. According to the comparative results obtained using the three techniques, it was clearly found that Prewitt and Homogeneity algorithms performance were better than Sobel algorithm. Therefore, Prewitt and Homogeneity algorithms can be recommended as useful detection tools in edge detection.
