Objectives:We aim to describe the efficacy,safety,and characteristics of the Amplatzer Vascular Plug(AVP)II and IV“off-label”use for multiple cardiovascular occlusions in children under 10 ***:Observational retrospective multicenter(2007–2020,6 centers)review of paediatric procedures using AVP II or ***:A total of 125 children(49.6%aged≤1 year,147 lesions)underwent 136 successive procedures(success rate:98.5%)using 169 devices(109 AVP IV,60 AVP II).The mean device diameter was 7.7±3.2 mm(4–20 mm).The median AVP size to vessel diameter ratio was 1.3(0–2).The median age and weight at implantation were 1.0 year(0.01–9.98)and 8.4 kg(1–69).Procedures were heterogeneous(55 patent ductus arteriosus(PDA),28 collaterals,18 sequestrations,22 arteriovenous/veinovenous/coronary fistulas,6 vertical veins,6 conduits,5 ventricular septal defects,7 miscellaneous).Day 1 and 6-month occlusion rates were respectively 94.8%and 98.5%.major adverse events(mAE)occurred in 5.2%of cases(no procedure-related deaths),and more frequently in weight≤5 kg(p=0.01),younger patients(p=0.03)during PDA closure(p=0.02)of tubular types(p=0.02)using larger devices(p=0.03)and AVP II(p=0.003).Independent predictor of mAE risk was a higher AVP diameter to patient weight ratio(Odds-ratio:2.33,95%confidence interval 1.31–4.13,p=0.004,optimal cut off:1.45).Conclusions:Both AVPs are safe and effective for percutaneous occlusions in children under *** devices represent an alternative“off label”use for well selected paediatric patients.

In this paper, we utilized the Jaulent-miodek equation which is one of important models in particle physics and engineering. The exact traveling wave solutions for this equation “involving parameters” according to two different techniques are constructed. When these parameters are taken as special values, the solitary wave solutions are derived from it. A comparison between the obtained results using these two different methods with that obtained by previous authors is demonstrated.

AIm To directly visualize Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) by the highly sensitive and specific technique of immunohistochemical staining in colonic tissue from patients newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis(UC).mETHODS Colonoscopic biopsies from thirty patients with newly diagnosed UC and thirty controls were stained with Giemsa stain and immunohistochemical stain for detection of H. pylori in the colonic tissue. Results were confirmed by testing H. pylori Ag in the stool then infected patients were randomized to receive either anti H. pylori treatment or *** Twelve/30(40%) of the UC patients were positive for H. pylori by Giemsa, and 17/30(56.6%) by immunohistochemistry stain. Among the control group 4/30(13.3%) and 6/30(20 %) were positive for H. pylori by Giemsa and immunohistochemistry staining respectively. H. pylori was significantly higher in UC than in controls(P = 0.04 and 0.007). All Giemsa positive patients and controls were positive by immunohistochemical stain. Four cases of the control group positive for H. pylori also showed microscopic features consistent with early *** H. pylori can be detected in colonic mucosa of patients with UC and patients with histological superficial ulcerations and mild infiltration consistent with early UC. There seems to be an association between UC and presence of H. pylori in the colonic tissue. Whether this is a causal relationship or not remains to be discovered.

Sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta(PLCζ)initiates intracellular calcium(Ca2+)transients which drive a series of concurrent events collectively termed oocyte *** investigations have linked abrogation and absence/reduction of PLCζwith forms of male infertility in humans where oocyte activation ***,very few studies have examined potential relationships between PLCζand advancing male age,both of which are increasingly considered to be major effectors of male *** efforts in humans may be hindered by inherent PLCζvariability within the human population,alongside a lack of sufficient controllable ***,utilizing immunoblotting,immunofluorescence,and quantitative reverse transcription PCR(qRT-PCR)we examined for the first time PLCζprotein levels and localization patterns in sperm,and PLCζmRNA levels within testes,from mice at 8 weeks,12 weeks,24 weeks,and 36 weeks of age,from two separate strains of mice,C57BL/6(B6;inbred)and CD1(outbred).Collectively,advancing male age generally diminished levels and variability of PLCζprotein and mRNA in sperm and testes,respectively,when both strains were ***,advancing male age altered the predominant pattern of PLCζlocalization in mouse sperm,with younger mice exhibiting predominantly post-acrosomal,and older mice exhibiting both post-acrosomal and acrosomal populations of PLCζ.However,the specific pattern of such decline in levels of protein and mRNA was ***,our results demonstrate a negative relationship between advancing male age and PLCζlevels and localization patterns,indicating that aging male mice from different strains may serve as useful models to investigate PLCζin cases of male infertility and subfertility in humans.

Efficacy and Compliance of Oral Iron Poly-maltose Complex versus Oral Ferrous Sulfate in the Treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia in Pregnant Women

Objective: To compare the efficacy and compliance of the conventional therapy of iron deficiency anemia (ferrous sulfate) with the new forms of therapy chewable iron tablets: (iron polymaltose complex) in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women. methods: This Randomized Control Trial study included 290 pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia, and they were randomly allocated to a control group who received ferrous sulfate capsules for two months and study group who received iron polymaltose complex chewable tablets for two months. Complete Blood Picture (hemoglobin level and hematocrit level) and Serum ferritin level were done after four and eight weeks to determine the efficacy. In addition, any complains or side effects had been reported to assess the tolerability of the drugs. Two-factor repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the change in hemoglobin and serum ferritin levels in both groups. Results: There was no statistical significant difference between the two research groups as regards baseline hemoglobin, and at week 4 from onset of treatment (p values = 0.990, 0.112, consecutively). However, there was statistical significant difference on week 8 of continuous drug intake in both groups in which the iron poly maltose complex research group had significantly higher hemoglobin levels (p value = 0.006). Conclusion: The results of the study showed oral iron polymaltose complex increases Hemoglobin and serum ferritin levels more than oral ferrous sulfate and produces less adverse effects than ferrous sulfate.

Relation between the Actual and Estimated maximum Ground Level Concentration of Air Pollutant and Its Downwind Locations

In this work we used the Gaussian plume model to calculate the actual maximum ground level concentration (mGLC) of air pollutant and its downwind location by using different systems of dispersion parameters and for different stack heights. An approximate formula for the prediction of downwind position that produces the mGLC of a pollutant based on the Gaussian formula was derived for different diffusion parameters. The derived formula was used to calculate the approximate mGLC. The actual and estimated values are presented in tables. The comparison between the actual and estimated values was investigated through the calculation of the relative errors. The values of the relative errors between the actual and estimated mGLC lie in the range from: 0 to 70.2 and 0 to 1.6 for Pasquill Gifford system and Klug system respectively. The errors between the actual and estimated location of the mGLC lies in the range from: 0.2 to 227 and 0.7 to 9.4 for Pasquill Gifford system and Klug system respectively.

AIm To elucidate how high diet-induced endoplasmic reticulum-stress upregulates thioredoxin interacting protein expression in müller cells leading to retinal inflammation. mETHODS male C57Bl/J mice were fed either normal diet or 60% high fat diet for 4-8 wk. During the 4 wk study, mice received phenyl-butyric acid(PBA); endoplasmic reticulum-stress inhibitor; for 2 wk. Insulin resistance was assessed by oral glucose tolerance. Effects of palmitate-bovine serum albumin(BSA)(400 μmol/L) were examined in retinal müller glial cell line and primary müller cells isolated from wild type and thioredoxin interacting protein knock-out mice. Expression of thioredoxin interacting protein, endoplasmic reticulum-stress markers, mi R-17-5p m RNA, as well as nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein(NLRP3) and IL1β protein was *** High fat diet for 8 wk induced obesity and insulin resistance evident by increases in body weight and impaired glucose tolerance.
