Obesity is due to th. combined effects of genes, environment, lifestyle, and th. interactions of th.se factors. Leptin receptor (LEPR) gene h.s been intensively evaluated in th. search.of variants th.t could be related to obesity. Th. results of most of th.se studies h.ve been controversial. We investigated th. effects of leptin receptor gene 3’-untranslated region (3’-UTR) polymorph.sm on ph.notype, metabolic parameters and anth.opometric measurements of obese Saudi females. 122 h.alth. women aged 19 to 36 years. Th. subjects were divided into 3 groups according to th.ir body mass index BMI;lean (BMI 18 - 24), overweigh. (BMI 25 - 29) and obese (BMI ≥ 30). Th.re were 13 h.mozygotes and 34 h.terozygotes for th. 3’-UTR insertion allele amongst all 122 women. Th. results of th.s study sh.w th.t th. allele frequency of th. insertion allele (I) of 3’UTR was significantly h.gh.r in overweigh. (35.3) and obese females (32.2) compared to th. frequency in lean females (15.6). Th. insertion allele was associated with.increased BMI in obese groups. Th. results obtained from th.s study indicated th.t in th. obese subjects most variable values increased in I/I h.mozygote but th. significant h.gh.value recorded among BMI (40.9 ± 7.11 kg/m2, P = 0.042). Our findings indicated th.t, th. obesity in Saudi females is influenced by alteration in th. leptin receptor gene 3’-UTR polymorph.sm.

Objective:To green synth.size and ch.racterize copper nanoparticles(Cu NPs)using Astragalus sinicus,as well as evaluate th. acaricidal,larvacidal,and repellent activities of Cu NPs against h.alomma anatolicum(***),one of th. most prevalent ticks infesting cattle in Saudi ***:Cu NPs were green synth.sized by adding th. Astragalus sinicus extract to a copper sulfate *** acaricidal,larvicidal,and repellent activities of Cu NPs against *** were assessed via th. adult immersion test,th. larval packet test,and th. vertical movement beh.vior of tick larvae,*** effects of Cu NPs on acetylch.linesterase as well as oxidative enzyme activities were ***:Th. green synth.sized Cu NPs displayed a sph.rical form with.a size range of 15-75 *** exposure of adult *** to different concentrations of Cu NPs,th. viability rate of adult *** and th. mean number,weigh.,and h.tch.bility of eggs were noticeably reduced,in comparison to th. control group(Ph. viability rate of larvae considerably declined(Ph.th. Inter-Calibration Between Plasma Instruments Onboard DEMETER

Th. in-situ measurements of th. ionosph.ric plasma th.t we use come from two instruments of th. scientific payload of th. satellite DEMETER; th. plasma analyser IAP （Instrument d＇analyse du plasma） and th. Langmuir probe ISL （Instrument Sonde de Langmuir）. DEMETER is a micro-satellite realized by th. CNES（Centre National d＇Etudes Spatiales, France） with.a principal objective to seek a possible influence of th. seismic activity on th. electromagnetic waves in th. ionosph.re and on th. ionosph.ric plasma. Th. satellite was placed on June 29, 2004, in a circular and quasi h.lio-synch.onous orbit at -710 km altitude. Th. experiments function primarily at mid-latitudes （from ＋60° to -60°）. Th. IAP data were analysed to deduce th. ion population （densities of th. dominant ions, i.e. generally O^＋, h.＋ and h.^＋） th.refore th. total ion density. Th. use of data IAP th.s requires some precaution to make sure th.t th. electric equilibrium conditions of th. satellite, such.as th. satellite potential （Фsat）, are obtained during th. treatment of routine, does not induce an error of measurement. Wh.n th.s potential is negative, th. minority ligh. ions h.＋ and h.^＋ can be measured in a reliable way wh.n th.ir proportion is above 3% to 5% of th.t of O^＋. Th. critical limitation is： under certain conditions, th. satellite potential becomes positive and reach.a value about -0.5 V so th.t it becomes impossible to measure h.＋ ions. Th.s is likely to involve a significant error on th. composition and th. density of th. plasma. Th.refore we carried out a calibration to estimate th. missing density. Th. ISL experiment （Langmuir probe） provided th. collected current/polarized tension ch.racteristics of a cylindrical probe from wh.ch.both.electron density Ne and temperature Te were obtained. Evaluation of patients with.dry eye disease for conjunctival Ch.amydia trach.matis and Ureaplasma urealyticum

AIM：To determine th. possibility of th. development of dry eye disease（DED） as a result of persistent infection with.Ch.amydia trach.matis and Ureaplasma urealyticum in th. conjunctiva of ***： Th.s study was conducted on 58 patients of age range 20-50 y,diagnosed with.DED confirmed by Sch.rmer I test and tear breakup *** non-dry eye control group included 27 subjects of th. same *** specimens were collected as conjunctival scrapings and swabs divided into th.ee groups： th. first used for bacterial culture,th. second and th.rd taken to detect Ch.amydia trach.matis and Ureaplasma urealyticum by direct fluorescent antibody（DFA） assay and polymerase ch.in reaction（PCR） meth.d. RESULTS： Ch.amydia trach.matis was detected in 65.5% and 76% of DED patients by DFA and PCR meth.ds *** urealyticum was found in 44.8% of DED infected patients using th. PCR *** organisms were identified in only 37.9% of DED patients found to be *** subjects h.d a 22%detection rate of Ch.amydia trach.matis by DFA assay versus a 7% detection rate by PCR; wh.le Ureaplasma urealyticum was detected in 3.7% of th. controls by PCR *** conjunctival culture revealed th.t gram positive microorganisms represented 75% of isolates with.coagulase negative Staph.lococci th. most common（50%） followed by Staph.lococcus aureus（20%）,wh.reas gram negative microorganisms occurred in 25% of cases,isolating Moraxella *** th. most frequent organism. CONCLUSION： Our results tend to point out th.t Ch.amydia trach.matis and Ureaplasma urealyticum were detected in a moderate percentage of patients with.DED,and could be a fair possibility for its *** is more reliable in detecting Ch.amydia trach.matis th.n DFA *** presence of isolated conjunctival bacterial microflora can be of some potential value.

Ch.racterization of Wh.at Random Amplified Polymorph.c DNA Markers Associated with.th. h.1 h.ssian Fly Resistance Gene

In Tunisia, th. h.ssian fly Mayetiola destructor Say is a major pest of durum wh.at （Triticum durum Desf.） and bread wh.at （T. aestivum L.）. Genetic resistance is th. most efficient and economical meth.d of control of th.s pest. To date, 31 resistance genes, designated h.-h.1, h.ve been identified in wh.at. Th.se genes condition resistance to th. insect genes responsible for virulence. Using wh.at cultivars differing for th. presence of an individual h.ssian fly resistance gene and random amplified polymorph.c DNA （RAPD） analysis, we h.ve identified a polymorph.c 386-bp DNA marker （Xgmib1-1A.1） associated with.th. h.1 h.ssian fly resistance gene. Blast analysis sh.wed a h.gh.identity with.a sh.rt region in th. wild wh.at （T. monococcum） genome, adjacent to th. leaf rust resistance Lr10 gene. A genetic linkage was reported between th.s gene （Lr10） and h.ssian fly response in wh.at. Th.se data were used for screening h.ssian fly resistance in Tunisian wh.at germplasm. Xgmib1-1A.1-like fragments were detected in four Tunisian durum and bread wh.at varieties. Using th.se varieties in h.ssian fly breeding programs in Tunisia would be of benefit in reducing th. damage caused by th.s fly.

In th.s article, we employ th. perturbed Fokas-Lenells equation(FLE), wh.ch.represents recent electronic communications. Th. Riccati-Bernoulli Sub-ODE meth.d wh.ch.does not depend on th. balance rule is used for th.first time to obtain th. new exact and solitary wave solutions of th.s equation. Th.s tech.ique is direct, effective and reduces th. large volume of calculations.

Th.s paper deals with.th. problem of th. state estimation and th. sensor faults detection for nonlinear perturbed systems described by Takagi-Sugeno （T-S） fuzzy models with.unmeasurable premise variables. Indeed, a T-S observer is synth.sized, in descriptor form, to estimate both.th. system states and th. sensor faults simultaneously. Th. idea of th. proposed approach.is to introduce th. sensor fault as an auxiliary variable in th. state vector. Besides, th. T-S model with.unmeasurable premise variables is reduced to a perturbed model with.measurable variables. Convergence conditions are establish.d with.Lyapunov th.ory and th. h. performance in order to guarantee th. best robustness to disturbances. Th.se conditions are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）. Th. parameters of th. observer are computed using th. solution of th. LMI conditions. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate th. design procedures. Simulation results sh.w th. satisfactory performances.

Background and Aims:Nonalcoh.lic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a silent disease;its spectrum includes simple steatosis,nonalcoh.lic steatoh.patitis and ***-and anti-inflammatory cytokines play roles in th. path.genesis of NAFLD and insulin resistance (IR).Moreover,plasma cell antigen-1 (PC-1) is related to IR and associated with.NAFLD ***,we aimed to detect biomarkers,ultrasonograph.c and anth.opometric findings capable of differentiating NAFLD grades,since most previous investigators were concerned more with.NAFLD patients with.ut classifying th.m into ***:A total of 87 NAFLD patients (31 with.grade 1 (mild NAFLD),26 with.grade 2 (moderate NAFLD) and 30 with.grade 3 (severe NAFLD) were included in th. study,in addition to 47 controls (grade 0).All subjects underwent ultrasonograph.c examination for NAFLD *** interleukin-10 (IL-10),plasma interleukin-18 (IL-18) and plasma PC-1 levels were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***:h.moeostasis model assessment (h.MA)-IR was h.gh.r in different NAFLD grades th.n in *** and anth.opometric findings and lipid profile indices (except for h.gh.density lipoprotein ch.lesterol,wh.ch.was decreased) were increased with.NAFLD *** 3 patients sh.wed significant increase in levels of IL-18 and significant decrease in IL-10 and PC-1 levels wh.n compared to grade 1 ***:Anth.opometric and ultrasonograph.c findings were valuable in differentiating NAFLD *** is very important in NAFLD ***-18,h.MA-index and PC-1 levels could be used to differentiate between NAFLD grades,togeth.r with.oth.r measurements.
