Background and Objectives: Mitigation of antibiotic resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae has become a priority due to considerable health and economical disabilities it generates. In order to tackle the emergence of resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae, this study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of penicillinase type β-lactamase-producing Neisseria gonorrheae among patients consulting for genital infectious disorders in two health-facilities in Yaounde, cameroon. Materials and Method: A cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study was conducted over a 3-month period, from July 2nd to October 2nd, 2022. Vaginal and urethral secretions were collected. Biochemical identification tests were performed on colonies grown on chocolate agar + polyvitex using the Api NH gallery. The detection of penicillinases was equally performed using the API NH gallery and confirmed using the antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The Minimum Inhibitory concentrations of some antibiotics were determined using the E-Test. Results: The results showed that out of the 198 patients sampled, 16 (8.08%) were positive for Neisseria gonorrhoeae, among which 13/16 (81.25%) were penicillinase-type β-lactamase producers. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing results showed high co-resistances to antibiotics, mainly ciprofloxacin (100%), nalidixic acid (92.31%) and azithromycin (84.62%). Moreover, high Minimum Inhibitory concentrations of ceftriaxone (ranging from 6 to 24 mg/L) was observed toward Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates. The risk factors of the carriage of penicillinase-type β-lactamase producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae identified were: a history of Sexually Transmitted infections (p = 0.01) and unprotected sexual intercourse (p = 0.01). conclusion: The emergence of penicillinase-type β-lactamase producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae is increasing and the situation is becoming worrisome. Background:ceiba pentandra is a medicinal plant used as alternative therapy to control parasitic nematodes in livestock.Objective:This study aims to investigate anti-parasitic effect of aqueous stem back extract of ceiba pentandra(L.)Gaertn through the evaluation of its anthelmintic,anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities.Methods:In vitro,the efficacy of aqueous extract(75 to 2400μg·mL−1)diluted in phosphate buffered saline(PBS)was tested against three stages of the life cycle of Haemonchus contortus through larval migration inhibition assay(LMIA),egg hatch assay(EHA),and adult worms motility inhibition assay(AMIA).In vivo,anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties of the aqueous extract(150 and 300 mg·kg−1)was evaluated on rodent using phlogistic and algic chemicals.Results:Significant inhibition activity(Pcally(Pcompared to PBS.The highest inhibition rate was 53.33%at 1200μg·mL−1.Adding of polyvinylpolyrrolidone(PVPP)to the extract significantly(Pced at 38.6%the activity of the plant extract on larval migration compared to extract without PVPP.The ceiba pentandra extract reduced(Pcompared to control.In vitro,aqueous extract significantly(Pced by carragenine,with a significant(Pction of the number of abdominal contortions induced by acetic acid to 41.11%at 300 mg·kg−1 and the paw licking time induced by formaline in both phases to 57.22%and 63.59%at 300 mg·kg−1 likened to control.conclusions:In vitro results suggest that,this plant possess anti-parasitic properties.Antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of c.pentandra can contribute to its anti-parasitic property.

Research for bioactive molecules and not resistant to infectious agents remains topical for science. The total polyphenols (TPP) and total flavonoids (TFv) of the hydroethanolic extracts and fractions obtained were quantified according to the spectrophotometric method described in the literature using the Folin-ciocalteu reagent and the colorless solutions of sodium nitrite 2.5% and aluminum chloride 10% respectively. The characterization of chemical compounds was made by coupling liquid chromatography (Lc) and mass spectroscopy (MS). Thus, 15 chemical compounds were characterized, seven from Gnetum africanum (EBa) and eight from Gnetum buchholzianum (EBb). The majority of which were stilbens, such as Gnetupendin D, Dimethoxygnetulin, Methoxyparvifolol D, Isorhaponcitin from Eba and Gnetuhaidin P, Gnetupendin D, Gnetuhainin c, phenols (Alcohol Homovanillyl, Alcohol Erythro guaiacylglycerol-β-O-4'-coniferyl, and Alcohol Homovanillyl from EBb. The minority were flavonoids such as Dimethoxydihydropyraneriodictyol, Dimethoxyeriodictyol (EBa) and Dimethoxydihydropyraneriodictyol, Trimethoxyluteolin (EBb). The levels of total polyphenolics and total flavonoids content were respectively 14.520 ± 0.557 mg EAA/g Extract and 29.870 ± 2.485 mg EQ/g Extract for EBa. The levels of total polyphenolics and total flavonoids content for EBb were respectively 4.560 ± 0.010 mg EAA/g Extract and 2.233 ± 0.251 mg EQ/g Extract. The high levels of flavonoids content respectively 220.200 ± 35.500 and 335.300 ± 57.810 mg EQ/g Extract were shown in Dichlorometan fraction from EBa and EBb. These bioactive compounds identified and total phenolics compounds quantified can be exploited in pharmacological and pharmacokinetical activities to fight against multi-resistant infectious agents and as well as oxidative stress and antiinflammatory diseases.

Water pollution caused by heavy metals ions has been gaining attention in recent years,increasing the interest in the development of methodologies for their efficient removal focusing on the adsorption process for these purposes.The current challenge faced by adsorption processes is the adequate adsorbent immobilization for removal and reuse.Thus,the present work aimed at producing a faujasite zeolite nanocomposite decorated with cobalt ferrite nanoparticles for Pb^2+ions adsorption in an aqueous medium improving magnetic removal and reuse.As a result,a high surface area(434.4 m^2·g^-1)for the nanocomposite and an 18.93 emu·g^-1 saturation magnetization value were obtained,indicating magnetic removal in a promising material for adsorption process.The nanocomposite regeneration capacity evaluated by magnetic recovery after 24 h suspension presented a high Pb^2+ion adsorptive capacity(98.4%)in the first cycle.Around 98%of the Pb^2+ions were adsorbed in the second cycle.In this way,the synthesized faujasite:cobalt ferrite nanocomposite reveals itself as a promising alternative in adsorption processes,aiming at a synergic effect of FAU zeolite high adsorptive activity and the cobalt ferrite nanoparticles magnetic activity,allowing for adsorbent recovery from the aqueous medium via magnetic force and successive adsorptive cycles.

Shrinkage of magnetosphere observed by Tc-1 satellite during the high-speed solar wind stream

During the interval 06:14―07:30 UT on August 24, 2005, since the Earth’s magneto- pause was suddenly compressed by the persistent high-speed solar wind stream with the southward component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), the magnetopause moved inward for about 3.1 RE. Meanwhile, Tc-1 satellite shifted from northern plasma sheet to the northern lobe/mantle region, although it kept inward flying during the interval 06:00―07:30UT. The shift of Tc-1 from the plasma sheet to the lobe/mantle is caused by the simultaneous inward displacements of the plasma sheet and near-Earth lobe/mantle region, and their inward movement velocity is larger than the inward motion velocity of Tc-1. The joint inward dis-placements of the magnetopause, the lobe/mantle region and the plasma sheet indicate that the whole magnetosphere shrinks inward due to the magnetospheric compression by the high-speed solar wind stream, and the magnetospheric ions are attached to the magnetic field lines (i.e. ‘frozen’ in magnetic field) and move inward in the shrinking process of magnetosphere. The large shrinkage of magne-tosphere indicates that the near-Earth magnetotail compression caused by the strong solar wind dynamic pressure is much larger than its thickening caused by the southward component of the IMF, and the locations of magnetospheric regions with different plasmas vary remarkably with the variation of the solar wind dynamic pressure.

评估4766名老年男女同型半胱氨酸及其相关因子作为髋骨骨折的风险因子。高同型半胱氨酸水平和低叶酸水平可预测骨折,而维生素B12及其基因型与骨折风险没有关系。高同型半胱氨酸水平可能是髋骨骨折的一个可变风险因子。血浆总同型半胱氨酸(tHcy)升高和叶酸及维生素B12缺乏与骨质疏松及骨折风险有关。我们研究血浆tHcy水平、叶酸、维生素B12和亚甲基四氢叶酸还原酶(MTHFR)677c→T和1298c→T多态性是否可预测骨折。材料和方法这是一项2639名女性和2127名男性的人群前瞻性研究,选择了1992年-1993年年龄在65岁-67岁的男女性。骨折信息来自从进入研究期至2005年11月30日期间该地区所有住院治疗公开诊断的计算机记录。按血浆tHcy水平、叶酸、和维生素B12及其不同基因型等变量,应用cox比例风险回归估计骨折风险。结果在12.6年的随访期中,记录了184名女性(7.0%)和90名男性(4.2%)髋骨骨折患者。tHcy高水平(≥15μmol)相对于低水平(cI)女性是2.42(1.43～4.09)、男性是1.37(0.63～2.98)。剂量-反应分析表明,男女性血浆tHcy与骨折风险间存在正相关,而仅女性血浆叶酸与骨折风险存在负相关。调整混杂因素后,血浆维生素B12水平或MTHFR基因型与骨折风险没有显著性关联。经调整血浆维生素B12和叶酸水平,tHcy与髋骨骨折间的关联仅轻微减弱。结论老年男女性tHcy可能是髋骨骨折的预测因子。叶酸仅是女性的预测因子,而维生素B12和MTHFR基因型不能预测髋骨骨折。我们的资料确证了同型半胱氨酸在骨质疏松性骨折发病机制中可能起作用的假设。
