Bird fauna checklists are important tools in ecology, biology, and conservation planning for scientists, stakeholders, and decision-makers. Despite its small area, the Gaza Strip (365 km2) has a relatively large variety of resident and migratory bird fauna. Therefore, the current study aimed to provide an updated checklist of all bird fauna living in or inhabiting the Gaza Strip. Direct field observations using binoculars, continuous visits to zoos, pet stores and biology museums, discussion with bird hunters, follow-up of news and social networking sites, review of scientific publications and photography were the main tools to satisfy the purpose of the study. At least 250 bird species collected from different sources occur in the Gaza Strip and are included in the checklist. This list will not be static, but is inevitably subject to additions and changes in the face of times. The current 250 bird species of the Gaza Strip represent 45.4% of the 551 species of birds living in Palestine. The bird species were found to belong to 21 orders and 61 families. The Passeriformes (passerines) represented the largest order with 96 species of birds (38.4%), followed by the Charadriiformes 54 (21.6%), the Accipitriformes 18 (7.2%), Anseriformes 17 (6.8%) and Pelecaniformes 14 (5.6%), while the other orders represented the remaining percentage (20.4%). With regard to families, the Scolopacidae represented the largest family with 22 species of birds (8.8%), followed by the Anatidae and Accipitridae 17 for each (6.8%), the Muscicapidae 16 (6.4%) and Chariidridae and Fringillidae 11 for each (4.4%), while the other families represented the remaining percentage (62.4%). According to the IUCN regional threat categories, 226 species (90.4%) were Least Concern (LC), 12 (4.8%) were Near Threatened (NT), 6 (2.4%) were Vulnerable (VU), 4 (1.6%) were Endangered (EN) and 2 (0.8%) were Critically Endangered (CR). Application of Fuzzy Logic Controller for Development of Control Strategy in PHEV

In this paper, implantation of fuzzy logic controller for parallel hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) is presented. In PHEV the required torque is generated by a combination of internal-combustion engine (ICE) and an electric motor. The controller simulated using the SIMULINK/MATLAB package. The controller is designed based on the desired speed for driving and the state of speed error. In the other hand, performance of PHEV and ICE under different road cycle is given. The hardware setup is done for electric propulsion system; the system contains the induction motor, the three phase IGBT inverter with control circuit using microcontroller. The closed loop control system used a DC permanent generator whose output voltage is related to motor speed. Comparison between simulation and experimental results show accurate matching.

背景血容量替代治疗是肝移植围手术期管理的重要部分。目前尚缺乏羟乙基淀粉（HES）应用于肝移植患者的相关安全性数据。我们评估了新一代羟乙基淀粉130／0．4应用于肝移植围手术期管理的安全性，并着重分析了其对肾功能的影响。方法行活体肝移植的40例患者被预先随机分成两组。ALB组患者（n=20）给予5％人血自蛋白，HES组（n=20）给予第三代羟乙基淀粉（6％HES130／0．4）。胶体总量被限制在50ml·kg^-1·d^-1，容量输注使肺小动脉楔压或中心静脉压维持在5—7mmHg。如需要额外的液体，则用平衡盐溶液替代。麻醉和手术操作过程均被标准化。分别测定麻醉诱导后、手术结束时、手术后前4天的动脉血肌酐和血清半胱氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂C（cystatin C）血浆水平。结果所有40例登记患者完成了研究。两组患者的人口统计学及手术中变量均具有可比性。手术后胶体液输入量分别是HES组6229±1140ml和ALB组4636±1153ml（P=0．003）。与ALB组（1100±900m1）相比，HES组（3047±2000ml）有更大的净累积液体平衡量（P=0．029）。两组血肌酐水平、肌酐清除率、cystafin C血浆水平差异无显著性。每组各有一例患者合并急性肾功能衰竭需行肾脏替代治疗。结论HES130／0．4做为人血白蛋白的替代品对肝移植术后肾功能的影响与后者相似。

益生菌对人体胃肠道有益,乳酸菌(LAB)广泛分布于自然界,并在食品工业中得到了充分利用,是益生菌的侯选细菌。本研究目的从沙特阿拉伯国家的某牧场生产的鲜乳和发酵乳中分离乳酸菌和研究其特征。结果,从13种不同的鲜乳和发酵乳分离得到93株疑似乳酸菌。基于16S rDNA基因序列比较并分析其遗传相关性,鉴定了46株乳酸菌。没有一株乳酸菌表现出对临床相关抗生素的抗性或有任何溶血活性,但它们的益生菌特性表现不一,即对pH的耐受性、对胆汁的抗性和抗菌活性。结果表明,分离得到的干酪乳杆菌MSJ1(Lactobacillus casei),干酪乳杆菌Dwan5,植物乳杆菌EyLan2(Lactobacillus plantarum)和屎肠球菌Gail-BawZir8(Enterococcus faecium)最有可能成为有益生菌潜力的最好菌株。我们推测菌种组合的协同作用可以发挥更有效的益生菌的潜力。来自沙特阿拉伯的生鲜乳和发酵乳产品,特别是由骆驼奶制成的发酵奶制品Laban,富含乳酸菌LAB,具有很好的益生菌潜力。

Place of upper endoscopy before and after bariatric surgery: A multicenter experience with 3219 patients

AIM: To study the preoperative and postoperative role of upper esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD) in morbidly obese patients. METHODS: This is a multicenter retrospective study by reviewing the database of patients who underwent bariatric surgery(laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass, or laparoscopic minigastric bypass) in the period between 2001 June and 2015 August(Jahra Hospital-Kuwait, Hafr Elbatin Hospital and King Saud Medical City-KSA, and Mansoura University Hospital- Egypt). Patients with age 18-65 years, body mass index(BMI) > 40, or > 35 with comorbidities after failure of many dietetic regimen and acceptable levels of surgical risk were included in the study after having an informed signed consent. We retrospectively reviewed the medical charts of all morbidly obese patients. The patients' preoperative data included clinical history including upper digestive symptoms and preoperative full workup including EGD. Only patients whose charts revealed weather they were symptomatic or not were studied. We categorized patients accordingly into two groups; with(group A) or without(group B) upper digestive symptoms. The endoscopic findings were categorized into 4 groups based on predetermined criteria. The medical record of patients who developed stricture, leak or bleeding after bariatric surgery was reviewed. Logestic regression analysis was used to identify preoperative predictors that might be associated with abnormal endoscopic findings. RESULTS: Three thousand, two hundred and nineteen patients in the study period underwent bariatric surgery(75% LSG, 10% LRYDB, and 15% MGB). Mean BMI was 43 ± 13, mean age 37 ± 9 years, 79% were female. Twenty eight percent had presented with upper digestive symptoms(group A). EGD was considered normal in 2414(75%) patients(9% group A vs 66% group B, P = 0.001). The abnormal endoscopic findings were found high in those patients with upper digestive symptoms.
